  1. LOL Jonny-good eye! it does look like Mickey, of course i havent seen what he looks like in 35 years----I don't know how he's aged--but it is certainly a match for the old Mickey
  2. This is about the closest that I will get to a TWI offshoot, Ive been to a few of them---well several of them ----and it was always the same old bad movie, going to the same old place- with a few minor twists and turns. Someone has some special insight into "the truth" shows superficial concern for you, has products for sale and wants you to GIVE- Thats not to say that most people aren't nice or smart or decent folks--its that they almost always have an agenda and a sense of self importance that was a way staple (at least this is my experience) personally Im not interested--Its the same old same old--- If i get the bug to explore christianity further i am not going to cover the same ground again but Im going to go in some completely different direction
  3. some more things you dont want to know about me: 1.)I was getting tired of seeing "Thong Underwear and Wedgies" on the sidepanel every time I logged in...its really the only reason I posted this- to get it off the side panel Why? i couldn't tell ya, i really have nothing against thong underwear although I dont like wedgies. 2.) I go through some periods where I write long posts then delete them before i post them---
  4. Jees Louise --Its halfway...and its awful quiet in here..... any observations? comments? snide remarks? predictions? favorites? pleasant surprises? rants?
  5. Yea its like Fenway-people come from all over the world to see Fenway regardless of who is playing-they have for years--this year because of the championship you have to rob Fort Knox to even get near a game-every game has been sold out for a few years. Fenway itselfis an attraction much like an old cathedral. There is something contained in the atmosphere that is unmistakable and very personal...I am glad that the new RedSox owners understand this, have taken it into account and although there is more advertising than there used to be, the overall feel (****ty cramped seats and all)still ties remarkably well into the history. There was a movement about 5 -10 years ago to build a 'new' Fenway Park that thankfully died when the new owners bought in--they were smart enough to realize what they have. It was interesting to me that the day Steinbrenner announced his new stadium, the Red Sox also announced they planned to be playing at Fenway for 'generations to come', which again pointed out (to me at least) the difference between the Yankee/RedSox mindsets. Old stadiums and owners who understand fans subtler concerns are very good for the game imo--unfortunately there is just not quite enough of them right now---hopefully that may change .... ...thanks for reminding me of the monuments--when i was a kid I used to think people were actually buried way out there (about a mile and a half into centerfield)...its little things like that are absolutely irreplaceable in tying baseball and place into memory...
  6. Maybe---Even though it is not really Yankee Stadium anymore and hasnt been since the 70's, there is an aura inside old ballparks that I suppose could be counted as a curse, but to many (me included) it adds in some immeasurable but real way to the enjoyment of the game. I cant explain it or put my finger on it, maybe it is history or 'ghosts' or the collective experiences and memories that have accumulated in a place--- I don't know ---but no matter how good the games have been in the slicker and steriler new ball parks they have have never captured quite the overall feel for me that you get in old parks. but then again I am historic preservationist so I am biased toward things that already contain some history.... wish I could have seen Ebbets
  7. Shouldn't they rename that place "The Oven at Arlington"?, any team goes in there it seems it takes them a week to get back to normal...
  8. Im not a lawyer but that sounds ridiculous to me. Reasonable? Necessary? for what? They are a pretty sad outfit, to deny people access to a cemetary and even more so to pay a lawyer to keep people away. Pathetic.
  9. Katherine Harris is back in the news...This story was too bizarre to pass up---politicians just never cease to amaze me.
  10. The Way has the publishing rights ? Where is the correct placement of also in this sentence? Wierwille not only stole Bullingers ideas but made money off of his works also or Wierwille not only stole Bullingers ideas but also made money off of his works. either way my 'theology' is not going to change, the truth is till the same Some people not only strain at the gnat, they also swallow the camel
  11. Im with these guys, I'll read any book for enjoyment or to learn something new now, its very refreshing not to have to spiritually discern every little thing anymore...its refreshing When I needed it years ago I read most of those books you mentioned, the one I liked the best and helped me the most was Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan
  12. Hi StrangeOne--i was wondering what the buzz would be in Texas, from afar I really like the way the Rangers play and wished I got to see them much more often (damn schedulemakers), they look like a really exciting young team...They look like the type of team that would be a ball to watch if they can 'pull together' instead of 'imploding'. That seems to me to be be one of the mystical but important qualities of baseball that is unpredictable but necessary.Last year I saw it with the Sox --it was the management, the owners, the media, the fans and the players that all got over some sort of hump together somehow, pulled together and that made it all happen. I don't really buy the idea of 'creative tension', its too stressful, players need to be loose to perform to their abilities... .plus I don't know how they play in that heat everyday. Anyway its officially half way-- Please send relief pitching.
  13. I think that I'd kick it if I had to spend 22 days with Geer too
  14. Tis on the front page- right HERE before you read it you may want to purchase one of these
  15. Can't we just donate directly to the college fund without defiling our houses with that stuff??? ;)--> Seriously--leave a link I couldn't find it--maybe I'll bid on something and in the fall we can also have a Bonfire For Kristopher.
  16. From his baseball card: "Thanks Doc, you were good"
  17. The fighting Irish of Notre Dame have been looking conspicuously non Irish to my eyes lately too

    BTK Killer

I havent seen it, it doesnt sound like OReilly added much. Sounds like he'll probably be the subject of a mountain of books and maybe somewhere in there a criminal psychologist or someone may pick up some insights. 'Evil' is too easy and simplistic for me although apt, the mans hardwiring has to be totally different. I havent got a passion for these things but it would be interesting to study and understand..
  19. only those aided by steroids I actually thought it was that way until the time I was 9 or so,--if it ever goes that way my money will be on the Dominican team---- although a game between actual Brewers and actual Pirates could be entertaining...
  20. Enjoy yourself groucho-- i think one of the best things i ever did was when i had to move back to my hometown about 15 years ago to watch over my dad who had heart surgery. I rekindled relationships with people I grew up with, went to grade school with, played little league with, got drunk and stoned with and had forged lifetime bonds with....I was coming off a cult experience, others were coming out of other difficulties of life --bad marriages, deaths, assorted tragedies--but it was a very good and a centering thing because in spite of it all we knew who each other really was and care for each others for who we are not for the momentary images we may project.... Congratulations on remaking contact---latch onto your friends with hoops of steel-they make it all the twiat, turns and BS worthwhile

  22. If Marvin is still in the traveling mode come autumn, he is welcome to accompany me to the Cathedrals of France and the Lascaux caves, if he cant wait that long he is welcome to visit me in Massachusetts for adventures at anytime. And just so you know---I have always liked Marvin--if you ever happen to find yourself at Washington Cathedral in DC, another Marvin has been watching over the place from his perch in the Altar rose window about 70 feet above the floor for about 15 years now, you may be able to spot our Marvins cousin and his Q238 space modulator with some high powered binocs if you are so inclined.
  23. Mike let me put it this way, if it works for you fine, but why can't you understand that I and many people here are not interested? I have found the way that works for me and am 'heeding my call', its not yours its mine and there is no way i would reject mine to heed yours... If your product is so great why are you wasting time here with people who have over and over in word and action told you they dont want it? There are 6 Billion people in the world who have never heard of vpw or pfal to talk to and convert
  24. Mike --Maybe you didn't get it and still dont-- I got it -I took it 35 times-believe me I got it...I think most of the people here got it. Once we latched onto to what Wierwille was really saying we all left because it is completely lacking in any substance. Get it? Why is that so hard to get through?
