Why wouldn't I believe it? I live in this country and see its dysfunctions also --they are no secret---religious blinders and ofttimes skewed and selective perceptions keep many from not only not recognizing and admitting problems (denial) but also can severely hinder dealing with problems in an effective manner due to the denial combined with the separated and many time superior attitudes regarding the rest of society I would be interesting to see the study methods and a fuller set of results if you (or someone) has it.

I'll agree it can seem priceless to those that are in the dark

"I'd give the Big Easy a few months and then head on down. The Quarter didn't get hurt anyway, and they'll be back to eatin' good and drinking more than they should in no time..." I love New Orleans and the food--- but after watching what was getting pumped back into the waters around there it will be quite awhile before I have any Jambalaya, crawdads, shrimp or seafood while i am down there...although I do bet the next Mardi Gras will be aparty to remember. and although I am not a city type of guy---Boston is one of the great ones if you do a little looking and asking around and stay away from the touristy areas, I'll take it anyday over NYC.... Ive been preferring smaller cities lately--St.Augustine was an interesting city. Im goin to the old south next --- Charleston and Savannah...Ive always heard good things about them.

I ran into Mormon missionaries my WowVet year and made if not a close friendship at least a respectful one with them. I really wasn't interested in buying in to being a Mormon (although I read the stuff they gave me , because I said I would) or selling them on Way doctrine. They were good kids a long way from home doing their best to move 'the word' as they saw it which I could relate to at the time having just got off the WOW field. After 1 or 2 more formal type visits, I let them come over just to hang out, be themselves and be comfortable and do things they shouldn't like watch a football game or drink a coke or two. They were good cleancut kids, I liked them alot and even as an official TWI twig coordinator™ at the time I felt no urge to disrupt thier mission or sell them on TWI and they were at the same place with me. We ended up being pretty good friends that year Not everything is a sales job, sometimes unconditional is unconditional.

Im guessing the last three games of the year at Fenway will decide the AL East (something people have been predicting since the schedules came out ) as well as the MVP... I know ARod has all the numbers, but I have never seen anyone like Ortiz who consistently puts 'em up when the game is on the line, the guy has more late inning homers and RBI's in clutch situations than anyone I can ever remember

Well I just made it home in one piece from the sunny south, having made a new friend of the Head Honcho Episcopalian of Georgia, as well as at a few other churches--I miss that hot weather and the beach at St. Augustine already---no games while I was gone---but i am back just in time for the last two weeks which look exciting --1/2 game separates the Sox and Yanks and they finish with 3 at Fenway, never mind all the wildcard maneuvering....Ortiz looks like he has been hot as hades (But not as hot as that girl at the beach...)

I go to Dans Church ;)--> Dans post reminded me of a poem someone gave me once: i am a little church(no great cathedral) far from the splendor and squalor of hurrying cities -i do not worry if briefer days grow briefest, i am not sorry when sun and rain make april my life is the life of the reaper and the sower; my prayers are prayers of earth's own clumsily striving (finding and losing and laughing and crying)children whose any sadness or joy is my grief or my gladness around me surges a miracle of unceasing birth and glory and death and resurrection: over my sleeping self float flaming symbols of hope, and i wake to a perfect patience of mountains i am a little church(far from the frantic world with its rapture and anguish)at peace with nature -i do not worry if longer nights grow longest; i am not sorry when silence becomes singing winter by spring,i lift my diminutive spire to merciful Him Whose only now is forever: standing erect in the deathless truth of His presence (welcoming humbly His light and proudly His darkness) ee cummings

It was gonna be both a nice two jobs and some free time tacked in between and onto the end for good measure--a few vacation days----and then I got inundated with phone calls to stop here there and everywhere on business so i'll be running around the south trying to stay in gas, and trying to keep all those jobs straight in my head for a few weeks (not easy at my advanced age!). Popularity ain't all its cracked up to be.... I did get out of going to Lafayette, LA, I think they may have higher priorities right about now than restoring their church windows...... i will be in Atlanta for a few maybe i will pick up a Braves game there if they are home...

It was rough going for awhile, I got to the poinet where I was wondering why games werent suspended like they had been after 9/11-Maybe I was watching too much coverage, but it hit me hard--I couldn't even watch a game until the last few innings last night....I'll be off on a two week road trip in a few days ( Im hoping I go 9-0 ;)-->)and Im busy as hell so hold the thread together for me---I'll be watching from hotel rooms and I'll be back in plenty of time for the playoffs!

Once they get everyone safe, I hope that they take the time to do it absolutely right. The future is a long time and recurring and/or secondary problems that could evolve or can be foreseen should all be taken into account while rebuilding. Pump it and rebuild it right. I will be watching, especially if the governor or mayor start complaining-they have already proved themselves somewhat inept and not good decision makers. on a sidenote My apologies if I came on too strong earlier during the heat of the moment against the feds-- Im not exactly well versed in the legal power transfers from state/local/federal authorities, but I abhor watching any people suffer.. I was aware that the locals were also inept although I may have never stated that.... I will be watching... Im not sure if there are any shrimp off my coast or not--but i'd sure like to bring some of those now out of work Chefs up here and start a Louisiana style restaurant----mmmmm

I hope they are thinking along those lines--- I'll be skipping my jambalaya for a while..

I dont know how you two get along, but can you handle 3 hours of 'faciliated interplay' with Satori? ;)-->

thanks Pirate-- Any Georgians around?--I'll be all over that state in about a week
-
Well I suppose you are right let me see ....would I rather physically die in the streets from neglect.........or go to the Way International and get my soul and spirit murdered? hmm.. tough call ..on closer examination it is a pretty close isn't it?

Smart move by that store-could be worth moving to cleveland soon..... The local paper had an editorial cartoon yesterday ( I can't find it online) that had a cartoon of a gas station offering a Free SUV with a fillup, after spending $80.00 to fill the other day it doesn't seem all that far away

yea -- God forbid they should ever DO the word, (that would be the day) better just to make up a bunch of bs that makes no sense to anybody and live in an illusion
