Thanks for posting that it was a great way to start the day- the inspirational words of a genuine spiritual leader--- The local radio station in my little town played 3 or 4 of his speeches in their entirety today. It was one of the most uplifting and hope giving things that I have heard in years.

So what would you do if you were the probably the best General Manager in baseball, were 30 years old and not with a team right now? panicking and hustling up work? Heck no ----go on tour and rock the house down Heres what former Sox GM Theo Epstein is up to: Gotta love this kid

I went to a banjo contest once -first prize was an ice pick and ten fiddle lessons
-
Love the Jerry Garcia one What did the banjo player get on his IQ test? Drool What do you say to a banjo player in a suit? Will the defendant please rise "There's nothing I like better than the sound of a banjo, unless it's the sound of a chicken caught in a vacuum cleaner…"

Thats exactly what I was thinking LittleHawk--- Im sure you could get alittle money for the books on EBay or somewhere but wouldn't a burning ceremony be much more satisfying? Mark- It would be for another thread but I gotta disagree I am of the opinion that many of the problems largely stemmed from the Doctrinally erratic positions propounded in the books

Well I was thinking of Florida---I have atrip to make to Atlanta toward the end of February-and since I am in the neighborhood I'll probably pop down and make a go of it....The Southwest sure sounds interesting tho----Its been awhile since I have been out that way--let me mull that one over for awhile

Im not very good on the words end of things, but am generally inclined during special events to try to give something that could serve as a reminder of the day and the import of the event years from now. Usually something symbolic, If no ring then maybe a family heirloom or something significant that she can have forever that will serve as a reminder after memory has faded the words

That was Dennis Moore-he robbed from the rich and gave to the poor

Didn't the prophets spend alot of time in the mountains? If there is an atrocity here its the people who keep their houses like cookie cutter hotel rooms and squeeze any possible life and spirit out of it. Id love to see what these nutcases would do if they came into my organized chaos---

Music - - Who've you seen/heard lately?

Well I thought this was good news: Robert Johnson to get Lifetime Achievement Grammy About 70 years too late -but better late than never.. BTW- have any of you listened to Blind Willie Johnson? I dont know how i missed him but a friend lent me a CD about a year ago and he has to be the best slide player that I have ever heard. I admit I didn't quite get it at first but by about the third time through I was mesmerized. It is amazing to me what came out of the deep south in the early part of the last century... I read his story, and although bluesmen are supposed to suffer, the amount of suffering in Willies life was bordering on ridiculous. In the 70's when Voyager was launched by NASA it included records and sounds of earthly existence in case one day it is found by creatures of a distant world. It had music on it-Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and... Blind Willie Johnson. It just left the solar system in the middle of last year. Of all the things in history that could represent humanity I think that it was forward thinking of NASA to choose Blind Willie -
This is all that I am getting

Tough question--Maybe it is the way that it is set up that is faulty--I think that the vows should be taken very very seriously but I dont think that marriage should be a jail or torture sentence either. IMO too many take the vows way too lightly and change their minds the way they would change their fashions --which to me is just a mockery of the institution. Others cling on who should never have married in the first place. Some work through hard times and make it work, others can't. I don't know for everybody -I really don't--- These days it almost seems the practical thing in alot of circles would be to treat it like sports --take an X year contract with options to renew

Great to see those statues of Willie and Juan Marichal in the classic poses as I remeber them-- Who is that cutie next to Juan? Well 38 days until spring training Pitchers and catchers report Feb 17 I don't know when ( or if) shortstops, centerfielders and leadoff hitters will be reporting for my guys--Still a heck of alot of holes up the middle Anyone up for a spring training meet?

Thanks I love the history of tunes that have been around for centuries and how they develop and change in the folk process--- Its an interesting study. I be interested in knowing what the name of the tune was before 1815 and what Irish battle it originally commemorated--and it probably derives from something before that....

I love The Meaning of Life too, it doesn't get the justice it deserves Every scene is memorable, too many to mention I like the hymn scene O Lord, please don't burn us. Don't grill or toast Your flock. Don't put us on the barbecue Or simmer us in stock. Don't braise or bake or boil us Or stir-fry us in a wok. Oh, please don't lightly poach us Or baste us with hot fat. Don't fricassee or roast us Or boil us in a vat, And please don't stick Thy servants, Lord, In a Rotissomat.

Thanks for the headsup-- I just forwarded the story to all my dog owning friends

Some of it got funny at times_ I knew one leader who would about have a nervous breakdown if all the fibers on his carpet weren't all pointed the same way... I used to enjoy going a little early to his house in big lug sole boots and tromping through every room-back and forth and back and forth...while he was readying-then watch his face start to twitch when he noticed it-The twitch would start in an eye and slowly work down the side of his face. It would really screw him up and he'd be all flustered until he could get out his vacuum cleaner and realign them. I don't think Mr.OCD ever figured out that I went out of my way just to watch his reactions

gawd am I glad that I am out----- Your visuals remind me of a MacDonalds or any other cheap cheezy national brand of anything where everything always looks alike no matter where you go. No Thanks--give me a messy house with some life in it anyday It still amazes me years later that people will sell out any personality or soul that they may have and buy into the cheeseball formulas of the TWI lifestyle

Its been along time but it happened quite a bit when I first got out. I admit it really pained me at first, now years later if and when it happens it is more a source of amusement--- I dont feel bad if I am being ignorred by the ignorant, cast out by those who are in their own world or put down by those who haven't taken the time to develop themselves and their own ideas. They reveal more of themselves and their own shortcomings than do any damage to me. they do me a favor if they take off and leave me alone. There are plenty of good people out in the wider world who will accept you for who you are and don't put bizarre guages on you to see if you measure up to them or not. Try them.....

Thats a whole big question that I'd like to hear other peoples views on. I do see people that sign copies of established designs done in various other media with the reason being that they executed the work if not the design--can't say i agree with that but it is done-and quite often too--If you don't feel right about signing it (even though you will be doing alot of meticulous work on it) then don't --I guess--- If you want something that you can with clear conscience sign then you could borrow from the idea (another thing that happens all the time) alter it to the way you want it, then execute that design--- I don't know if there are any hard and steadfast rules to signatures...sometimes they work with a piece and sometimes they don't I have reasons why I dont ever sign my stuff but it is a whole different set of circumstances and reasons than what you are doing
