gees ---I didnt mean to kill your thread Mark-- I wouldve liked to see where this one went

I work in churches all over the country and every church that I go in has things going that I never would have even dreamt about in TWI....classes, activities, community involvement, ministries of all sorts that benefit people in all sorts of circumstances within or outside the church. Small Churches, big churches that have genuine concern that they are doing something to make life better not only for those on the inside but for their communities at large..Its refreshing for me to see christian communities working together in a genuinely christian manner for a change. They're all over the place.

(((((((Belle))))))) Anthing you say will far outweigh what any self inflated pinhead will say, I think almost everyone here would vouch for that.Youve shown yourself over a span of time to have great breadth and depth of understanding and care and aheart of gold-- the ignore feature is a beautiful thing

Rascal---Its also built into way doctrine not to question or reevalute.....according to them the road down started when Eve considered....many wont even consider anything outside of what they are told to think. I have seen more of the hardcores over the years that when they have achallenge to their belief structure their minds shut off, put up a wall and nothing else goes in. For serious wayfers it is too much of a brainscramble to deal with things outside the accepted norm. So they don't--they withdraw....then shift and justify their withdrawal it by labelling the other (take your pick) copped out, not standing, deceived, possessed etc etc

Sorry Im alittle slow on the uptake--I just caught this Quote The Invisible Dan Good one! You are 100% absolutely right

This is too much early in the morning with all the need in the world The thought of Rev. Boob actually taking time to write a letter to believer Bob about getting his potato chips together is somewhere between absurdly humorous and incredibly pathetic. A little bit of both. These people really need to get out more often and get a life

Dreams are interesting--A friend of mine (never TWI) records all of her dreams, over time the patterns in the dreams can be interesting and enlightening. She goes to a Priest as a spiritual director who is also a trained Jungian Analyst about once amonth and gets alot of insight by working through them. She is of the belief that that is the way God speaks to her. Hers seem more interesting to me than mine --I have had alot of recurring dreams in the past---Most of the ones I have now involve walking around in peanut butter shoes

Part of their doctrine is that They have no friends when it comes to the word My experience with the hardcore wierwille believers is that anything that is outside of the narrow confines of what they have been taught is acceptable and actually makes them have to think or question their own assumptions makes them very very uncomfortable and exasperated. Many will cut you off as a manner of not having to deal with challenges to their own belief structure

Where did my youth go? it was around here a minute ago

Not being all that familiar with the concept of "The Economy Of Salvation", nor as inclined to research, at least recently, as most of you I cant give you chapter and verse but my gut intuition is that no it doesnt matter. It may have been set to fit within the cultural framework of the times that Jesus was male, but I doubt it had to be that way, some things may have had to change--- but the core content --I dont think so. Practically, I would think the world that we know today would be shaped much differently if christianity had progressed along more matriarchal type lines, and built its churches cultures and societies with more respect toward the feminie side of spirituality, which i assume it would have had Jesus been female.

Alices Restaurant on Tuba would be interesting.... Stockbridge is in Western Massachusetts --A tiny town in the Berkshire Hills, Arlo lived here in the 60's and still lives closeby... Im holding down the fort...my place just happens to be around the back and is .......just a half a mile from the railroad tracks... Walk right in if your ever in town. What strange places we land

Im not going to comment, mostly because it seems to me that almost everyone here has their minds already made up --they are either 'believers' or 'unbelievers' and they are pretty much dug in in their stances on this, anyway and it usually gets out of bounds and personal fast. but thanks for posting, i will point you HERE though which is more or less a new request from the mods good to see you back

Maybe you could employ some people in Denmark for some good cartoon fun, they seem to know how to strike a nerve with people

I just happened to be at that exact dump which started that story today. The Stockbridge Town Dump, which is not only closed on thanksgiving but now I know on Valentines day too. Although tempted i didnt litter, nor end up on Group W bench

The bibliolatry dawned on me while I was still in when for the most part memorization of verses, going to classes, listening to a jilliion tapes etc and things of that nature carried much more weight than actually carrying out and doing what most of them had to say---- unless it was a section that fit within the tight controls of TWI theology

ive never been a big fan of Valentines day myself--unless I was in some sort of relationship --then you are sort of required to do something romantic, which translates into $$ most years which isnt all bad --I just find it too contrived and commerce driven a holiday for my tastes... Im not going to go bombing any buildings so dont worry about that, but I do find it more to the shallower end (generally) of our culture. A sort of "KMart Holiday" that makes as many people feel shi!!Y as it it does make people feel good ---at least the way it plays out. I know it can be a nice day for couples --its also the day that lonely girls go through hell... If I was from another culture I'd probably say "sure we'll take your medicine and technology thank you very much but Valentines Day...no thanks ....you can keep that one...we have enough going on already" just my opin. BTW Mark as our resident catholic educator, how about a little synopsis of St. Valentine, so we can see what this whole thing is supposed to be other than cards, candy , flowers and rings

You are still responsible if you are the one carrying the gun Whittingham wasn't in his line of fire or even in the direction that they were facing The article blames Whittingham---(is anyone in this administration ever responsible for anything?) but it sounds like Cheney spun and fired with not much concern for anything other than the bird he was tracking.
-
This quote from the article sort of stunned me The very first lesson anyone who's ever taken a firearm/hunter safety course learns is "There is no such thing as a gun accident" . . . just catastrophic results from stupidity & carelessness. Playing it off as "No big deal these things happen' doesnt make it so nor excuse the carelessness and stupidity involved Glad the lawyer is mostly OK - but at the very least the irresponsible should have their gun privileges revoked

I dont know if anyone can make the claim of being good or even particularly smart here- -We all spent in a cult -- that sort of rules out any claims to having any special brilliance--which wouldnt necessarily make someone 'good' anyway We all have foibles and thats OK with me....I prefer those who remember that, and are human -- myself I do get irked from time to time with the folks who still "have all the answers", leave no room for those outside of their opinions, seem to have forgotten where they came from, and that they were once duped themselves. I know of a few posters (myself included ) who dont bother posting alot of interesting subjects and different things because it would be immediately attacked by the thought police----I dont really hold it against them, but it does keep gspot from being a little more expansive in its scope. Is that bad? I dont know, but I dont think that it is as good as it could be
