    Rick Warren

Iremember when that "Purpose Driven blah blah blah" was a topic of threads here at greasespot and had achieved some bit of popularity. I personally had bells, whistles, flags, stop signs, big huge guys waving their arms and all sorts of things going off for me that said "not on your life" No Thanks. Ive been 'driven', Ive known 'driven' people in the past. I dont anyone driving over me anymore and I certainly dont want to drive over anymore people--or drive over anymore cliffs thank you very much. It seemed like another christian fad of the hour that would capture a bunch of people in its orbit then wear them all out soon enough. No thanks--already did that, dont need to do it again
  2. Bravo! agreed on all points there is definitely something wrong with our scale of values, while we are at it can we get rid of advertising between every pitch, cartoon curveballs explaining what a pitch is supposed to do, annoying exploding graphics, announcers who act as if we have never heard of baseball and every move being corporately sponsored?
  3. You're right --I didnt see that. my mistaka Were they saying in those Slash commercials that you can plug a guitar directly into your car now?

    End of the Road

I have a tendency to feel almost exactly as you described from time to time and go into a darker mood-sometimes for a day-a week-a month or (thankfully this has past) longer. One thing I do know is that it passes. Ive tried all sorts of things over the years when i get in the serious doldrums from treatment for depression, to changing my diet, to forcing myself to get out and do things. I think the best (for me) was doing volunteer work at a homeless shelter and interacting with a lot of good people who had much more serious problems than my own.
  5. 83+79 = 162 change TWO games and they're at .500 at 81 and 81 although they call it four over whatever --congrats to the Cards but the damnable thing about this is-Its cold, raining, looming with bad weather and there is no more baseball 110 days until pitchers and catchers report
  6. 10th I think I was wondering why Fox wasnt saying anything about the 68 WS whats up with the weather? Are they gonna start this game or what?
  7. Well its good to be back home -last night I watched the game with a coupla girlie girls who kept referring to players as 'that crouchy down guy" or "the latin guy with the neat beard" and the American leaguers as a bunch of puzzies.... Its a whole different perspective from the fairer gender It was 20 years ago tonight that Mookie Wilson hit an innocent ground ball to first for the final out of the World Series and gave the championship to the Red Sox for the first time in 68 years.... wait,,,,wait ...wait...Ive blocked it out...its coming back...it rolled slowly to first and....and .. the ball got by Buckner........... %$%#@^%! I had just finished running PFAL session 11 and thrown everyone out to watch the last few innings..... Since you were on trivia in my absence---and For a beer whenever I see you Who made the last out of the '68 series between the Cards and Tigers?
  8. In my day Ive heard afew Im looking forward to what yours is Rock Meanwhile Cardinal fans are calling for Rogers head: I found this on a Cards site-- of course none of them are mentioning the 7 innings one hit ball he threw after washing it off
  9. WTF This isnt looking good that Leyland took out Rogers Why? he was only at 99pitches Edit; Got him that made it too tight i read this earlier today-- Todd Jones: "I only pitch one inning, So by the time they realize I don't have anything, the inning's over."
  10. swinged, swunged, swanged-what happens after an event in utter padeshbarnea 20 straight scoreless innings for The Gambler in the post-season. I wonder if he'll hang it up if the Tigers win it all. Go out on top and all that. 75 pitches -1 hit amazin'
  11. Am I having a Deja Vudoo? Next time I am in Uttar Pradesh I'll check out a swang. Nice play Eckstein I think these guys have to be the shortest DP combination I remeber seeing what are they both about 5'7"?
  12. Whats with Larussa wearing shades? has anyone told him that its nighttime?
  13. Well thats not itMercurochrome was banned in the 90's.... YOUCH --that hurt!
  14. Thats on the Tigers fan board. the cards fan board wants Rogers thrown out
  15. Looked like mercurichrome to me... If it was illegal would he put it where 100 million people could see it?
  16. I was wondering how he swung (swang (?)) that deal, Ive heard that song about 255 times since the game started yesterday. Its already gettin old. He does look better than Bob Seger who apparently has the same dentist as Austin Powers.
  17. speaking of underdogs How can you not like Detroit when was the last time Detroit got any respect in anything?
  18. almost fell out of the chair on that one.....
  19. Well we should see tonight whether this Tigers roar thing is for real. If Rogers can pull yet another game of his life out of his bag of tricks ........ Honestly a highlight for me last night was when they showed the guy in a Mets hat, and he had a classic " I cant believe I just spent $2500 and my team isnt even here" look on his face. Cracked me up
  20. Now if I can only find a video of Lube Rock in a cubs uniform... I got pregame on-I think Jeanie Zelasko got lost in atime warp and saw Farrah Fawcwtts hairstylist
  21. They probably will-I am fully expecting to see videos of Gibson, Lolich, McLain, Brock and all the others from 68 during this series and given MacCarver is in the booth and he was catching Gibson- he may go off from time to time. If I were a bettin man Id say theyd have vids of Gibsons game 1--(is that the game he struck out about 17?) tonight and play up the rematch stuff. Thankfuly I doint remeber '34, but I talked to my Dad today and he does. He was a big Dizzy Dean fan. He has newspaper clippings that he saved from that era. One of the favorites that I remember was about a game where Dean got struck in the head. The headline was " Doctors XRay Dizzy's Head--Find Nothing"
  22. So was I Its been alright to me--- my mother might have had another persepctive, apparently i was pretty difficult that day
  23. Well me too, After not paying that close of attention to things after the Sox dropped out of contention, i was fairly amazed to read today that the Cards won 83 games during the season. 83? Of course im watching and hoping for a great series, and the tension and excitement that only a World Series can generate. Not to take anything away from the Cards but something doesnt seem right when a team just barely over .500 could be crowned world champions. ......................... :) Holy ship--That was a great series, and agreat 7th game when they faced each other.....I must be getting old when the teams havent met for 38 years..... and I remember it
  24. Because they still practice more of TWI and its engrained patterns than they are willing to admit. There were multitudes of blatant signs long before Craigs Bust, that made the whole thing difficult to support, if at all. If people chose to stay through that mess, well that is their business, but to come out after being a part of and supportive of those mistakes via their time and money doesnt really qualify them for much of a ministry at least not one that I would attend or support. If they were just in lala land and had no clue what was going on, that doesnt give them much credibility either. Given the doctrines and ways that were deeply engrained Its bound to fall into a lot of the same pits
  25. .ugh is this still the dark ages? We Were Forewarned about BS like this a long time ago "When you believe in things that you dont understand , then you suffer----- Superstition aint the way" Stevie Wonder
