Belle you are a sound individual so that sounds reasonable, and works with 90 (maybe more)% of cases and people. God forbid anything horrible should happen to you or anyone else that genuinely makes it impossible to work---catstrophic accident or illness or something like that, which does happen. I dont know what should happen in those cases but pitching them on the street seems harsh. You also have the problem of people who genuinely can not take care of themselves or have some severe handicap, the severely retarded etc. I think Id actually like to see the welfare system do more than provide food assistance and a check, but incorporate rehabs, job training, counselling (..or whatever is needed) and look at it as an investment in people and work to either get them off drugs and trained into a productive and self supporting job within x amount of time or find productive work within the capabilities of their handicap and bring the monthly stipend down. As it is, it seems like the system is so loose that they pretty much mail out the check and have little ot no oversight or input into the persons collecting. I think if it were tightened, and programs initiated that it would not only be easier to weed out the frauds, but it would genuinely help people more that really need it.

I didnt hunt down the Yankees clock, but HERE is a site if you ever feel the need to connect with 'the old neighborhood' and/or a bronx flavor to baseball. http://www.nyyfans.com/ I understand how Dodgerville could easily become a way of life --sounds perfect to me--but are you going to come back to see the stadium before it goes? I still kick myself for not going to old Tiger Stadium before it got torn down and I had no connection to the Tigers and cant stand Detroit edit:Yankees page and clock

I tried chewing tobacco when I was 11 to look a baseball player, I was playing third base, got hit in the stomach with a line drive and swallowed it No Ive never chewed it since. In a sort of related way, in my way daze I had a roommate with a son about 12. I came home early one day and found him hurriedly scurrying about. Later that night I accidently found an open can of chew that had yet to be used. I emptied about 1/3 of it and mixed in cayenne pepper with the remainder, made it look as it had been, and returned it to its hiding place. The next day when he dipped into it in the backyard it was sort of fun watching his spastic gyrations and playing innocent I later found it in the trash.

Welcome Mr. Burns Amazing how much fun winning is... Its tough to tell at this point, we seem to be on a run of highly improbables who would have expected in 2000 to see consecutive championships by the Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox and then have the Tigers in the series? Not me In baseball anything can happen

:) Not Yet! I do have an obsession for tools, if Im in a hardware store or Home Depot and see a simple hand tool that I like ( like a tape measure or something) I'll buy it. It hardly ever dawns on me until later that I may already have a dozen of them at my shop already

I just noticed this a few weeks ago--but its been going on for probably 2 to 3 years. I go out to eat just about every morning for breakfast and have to sit at the same table, in the same chair facing the same way. If someone is sitting at 'my table', I think "why are those people sitting at MY table?" Another table is alright but disappointing, but if for some reason i have to face the other way in the restaurant, it throws me off a little..... Im not as bad as Jack Nicholson in "As Good as It Gets", but I think Im moving in that direction

So... umm... ahh....when is black fly season up at the Maine Lakes? I vote that we avoid that, but you Mainiacs probably already know that
-
I commented up in the other thread If the day ever comes I may vote for him, He'd be a good candidate (better than alot of ones that we have had) and receive alot of votes. There is some of Red Sox Nation that would still vote for him as Pope ..or Messiah given the chance We finally got finished with the JD Drew signing saga which took 7 weeks to complete after it was announced. 70 Million/ 5years seems awful high for an iffy proposition... Its 18 below ZERO right now--when the heck is spring training???

Its just an indicator that nothing has changedHere is the comment to me, I hope PinkLady is still reading before she makes her decision so she knows what to expect. To which I say say Thanks for proving my point (cant you at least think up something of your own without parroting Martindale??? CFF/TWI? nothing has changed but the initials- Its still all the same old tired one liners and superficial positivitity covering an angry attitude..

gees Belle -you are usually so free spoken... I dont know the relationship that you had with these particular people and/ or what all the connections and issues were that bound you together --only you know that... personally I wouldnt avoid talking about the elephant in the room but I wouldnt be looking to pick a fight either-- What do you want to talk about? Why are you calling them? to see how they are, reconnect? wish them well? or something different? Whatever way it is go from the heart--you're good at that and ps you others --I pulled em over and checked the license, it was not only expired but never valid in the first place

I'd pick up the phone dial the number and say Hi, this is mstar --Ive missed you and wonder how you're doing.... :) I probably should add that the friends that I had in TWI --were friends based on our relationship to each other not necessarily on our meeting each other through TWI which was only incidental.. I cared about them as people, not their affiliation. I would hope that it was reciprocated. Im sure it would come up-but hopefully it wouldnt be that big of a deal or a barrier between us......if it was I know who I am and why I am where I am, which I'd gladly talk about openly......I doubt I'd ever go in with the intent of trying to rescue someone, but just express any honest friendship that I do have. Love goes further than dogma

I'll agree with that Linda as far as newcomers coming in and wagging their finger at me and pronouncing their judgment that God will not tolerate me, Im off "Their Word', God will impart his vengeance on me..... Who cares? -same old story same old song and dance that I grew so used to in wayworld, a sterling example of the love of Christ that nothing has changed

There has been alot of discussion on this over the years if you check through the archives. IMO an offshoot is any group or leader that splintered out from the way tree. CES, CFF, the Geer Group, The Finxxgan Group and a whole slew of others, some bigger than others and some tiny that I dont feel the necessity to keep up with. Greasespot is an offshoot in my mind as it wouldnt have existed without TWI being there first. There are a few that took time off to reassess and rethink things after the TWI meltdown and after years have re entered the ministry with different training and different directives--They I wouldnt call offshoots, but the great majority jumped in with no serious reflection, other than crossing a few t's and dotting a few i's differently but carrying a good bulk if not beliefs then actions with them... Sides is an offshoot having been ordained in TWI and although his beliefs may have changed somewhat from TWI, he still holds on to much of the same type of operational format ( classes, tapes, books, thinking himself to be 'more knowledgable' (hahaha) than regular churches, fundamentalist in approach, even using the term Doctor-- imo even though his rhetoric had changed he is a lot closer and ingrained in TWI patterns than he would like to think. There are a lot, from some who want to still want to prove how important they are by providing the greatest revelation since the first century , to small 'twig like groups who have changed almost nothing in style teaching or format, and then there are the traveling circus show of leaders who all have tapes, classes, advances, retreats, camps, seminars, books, tshirts, bumperstickers, keyrings, and bookmarkers to hawk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TWI1, 2, 3 refers to different growth stages and changes of TWI, That was originally a thread at Waydale, maybe someone can hunt it down and resurrect it for you..Its a good read
