  1. Hopefully Curt will be leading the sox to an '08 WS victory just about the same time we choose a newand different President and we can finally leave the last 8 years in the past. I go to another board www.sonsofsamhorn.com, which is mostly sox stuff, there is also a political forumthere similar to the GS one. Schilling is a member and although he is on the conservative side, he is not of the bullheaded, obnoxious, closeminded variety. Although I disagree with him, I do respect him and he is actually pretty open---If thats any consolation-- The senator comment up a few posts was half in jest anyway.. What was the reasoning to move Nomar to first anyway? I never was absolutely clear on that--was it the injury history? Boston 4 Toronto 0 in the 7th Wakefield (the knuckleballer) has given up 1 hit through 6
  2. O gees, It takes us all, He may be a conservative but strangely he does have a conscience, or seems to How is Mr. Mia Hamm doing ?
  3. Get used to them he may follow Jim Bunning and be a Senator some day it wouldnt surprise me a bit...
  4. dang-- Im not going to be able to see him this time through after all, duty calls--I'll catch him next time through.... anyone good playing in Greenville, Mississippi next week?
  5. Providing he doesnt do anything stupid (hello Johnny Damon..) he will at the very least be in the Boston Sports Hall of Fame. The bloody sock game is nothing short of legendary and that legend is bound to grow over time. Whether or not he gets into Cooperstown is already the subject of debate around these parts. There are pitchers with better lifetime records than Schilling that arent in, but also players who were generally middle of the road (like say Bill Mazeroski...) who provided great memorable moments. Schills strength and legacy is that he wins the big one. My vote? Put him in!! If you havent seen it already, HERE is his personal weblog. I read it from time to time. He has never been shy about speaking whatever is on his mind, some of the insights can be very interesting coming directly from a player and not filtered through the media
  6. I love this remix---Our G g g eneration is getting a little older...so what?...I hope i can always keep this kind of chutzpah alive.....the zimmers
  7. I dont mind seeing a little tail from time to time I dont know jack about shapeshifting, other than just about every culture seems to have legends that stretch way way back of people turning into ravens, birds trees, panthers--heck just about anything and everything (...newts), and that it is also great fodderr for comic books. video games, and sci fi movies. Dantes Inferno has some very visual poetic depictions of people turning into reptilies(most of them some sort of world or religious leaders too -if I rememeber correctly...) Here is a Mayan Jaguar/Man about a thousand years old give or take, Who knows about these things? I dont...although theve been written about forever, Im just a whitebread suburban boy although I guess it probably had something to do with what they were smoking during their shamanic rituals, which must've been some really good **** Maybe Icke got a hold of some of that
  8. Ive mellowed down a bit--maybe taking abit of your advice from the past few years--since finally winning in '04 the meaning of life struggle in every pitch has waned a bit, and now I can just enjoy the game a little more for what it is... Sox fans are a breed apart though--on another board, a sox board, there is a THREAD asking if this is "The Most Crucial Two Weeks of The Season". It has a point--BUT we are 11 games in and (hello) Its April!! people take their baseball seriously up this way Im calming---- a little
  9. See what I mean Rock? There is a religious element to Red Sox fans If the Pope ever comes to Catholic Boston he better do it on an off day, or his attendance will be down! Dice-K is looking good, fun to watch, 10K's through 6 last night had one rough inning when he couldnt get the ball over the plate that cost him 2 runs. I expected there will be some adjustment, moving to an entire new culture and that there may be some time finding his comfort zone here but he looks like he will be ( well hell he already is..) one amazing pitcher. I hope (fingers crossed) that he doesnt fall into being the one guy that never gets any run support which has been the case his last two outings. Pedro Martinez was that guy for a few years, for some reason there always seems to be one pitcher that always pitches well enough to win, but it is iffy wth the offense on his nights. I dont know why. After scoring 25 runs in 3 games against the Angels the Sox scored 1 last night and Matsu lost 2-1, the start before that he pitched well but the Sox got 1 hit. He could easily be 3-0 instead of 1-2. But thats baseball, He is still fun to watch and has great stuff, it looks like he has about 7 pitches, even without the mysterious gyroball which he has yet to unveil. Ive never seen a gyro being thrown although the similar pizza pitch made its debut at Fenway the other day. the full analysis on the vid is by Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo. (it turned out the guys were friends)
  10. Heck yeah they do---I said a few pages back that the season is already completely sold out, Yesterday was a cold, nasty, wet, rainy, sleety mess AND the game was delayed for two hours. There were some empty seats when the gamae finally began at about 12:15 but it was full (with a very few exceptions) an inning or so in. I swear the Sox could fill Fenway at 2AM in a blizzard and still have people outside freezing to death hoping to score tickets
  11. To me it IS the doctrine of the church especially in a first generation group that is the work of one charismatic founder..... Regardless of where we were told the comma goes or how many were crucified, It was modeled to us to be arrogant, aggressive, self centered, self important and generally overly concerned with our own 'rightness'. That was the 'tupos', and why so many 'leaders' (gag) became clones of either Wierwille or Martindale, in everything from the way the acted and dressed to what they talkked about to what they thought about and their general belief that they were the center of the universe Yea Yea 4 crucified, JCING, blah blah blah, what many people really learned was to become know it alls, it was unwritten doctrine, but doctrinal nonetheless that believers were to place undo reverene to those above them in the chain, and feel superior to thos below them
  12. they finally got the game going at the later hour of noon because of the rain. Josh Becketts (starting pitcher) interview aftergame was priceless-he arrived at the park at 7:30 AM for the assumed 10AM start--Thats gotta be entirely disorienting
  13. Yea I was surprised to see Gonzo in Dodger Blue last night, as I missed it in the off season... Its raining pretty good in Boston so I dont know if the game will get in, but its cool watching the pregame at 9AM with my morning coffee, although it is a little disorienting
  14. :) Im sure Sean says thanks! Seans a little closer to our age bracket, He was a medic in Vietnam, saw a few too many heinous things, and has been always ready to do whatever, whenever, whether he logically can or cant and regardless of consequences To him its not even a question, when the planes hit, he immediately drove down to Manhattan and dove in with both hands , he stayed for months. Even though his health (and business) were failing he did the same thing at Katrina, bringing van loads of people back to his own house, and donating truckloads of musical instruments ( he owns a music store) to New Orleans musicians and schools that lost theirs, out of his own pocket. Its the type of guy he is He never has had a sense of self preservation, its tough to see someone so high energy and selfless gagging and breathless now. IMO he certainly deserves better Thanks again for the prayers
  15. Thanks Kath I'll keep you posted (if you want) Sean is definitely one of the good guys
  16. Im not sure---Its always a New England staple. Its a holiday-Patriots Day- here. Paul Reveres ride to Lexington and Concord and all that. The Boston Marathon is also today. the game starts early, so you can get out, walk a few blocks, and catch the end of the marathon. Im not sure if its a national holiday or not--- is it a holiday out where yous guys is?
  17. I dont know anything about it. I wish I did I do know that a good friend of mine who spent months voluntarily digging out the WTC has been deteriorating seriously ever since, and now makes it out of bed for a few hours a day if hes lucky. So far nothing from anybody has helped and there are few anywhere that will even give leads to what might work, the powers that be seem to have an official stance that 9/11 Disease doesnt even exist, let alone any helps or remedies I personally dont care who it is, if someone finds something that works for these people I am all for it
  18. Ive heard that story Simon. I may be wrong but I think that it was Marvelous Marv Throneberry ....its really great to see everyone wearing number 42 today.... HERE are about 30 stories and 25 video links in honor of Robinson, the 1952 world series video was particularly fun Tomorrow(if the weather clears up) we'll have the only morning game of the year --10:00 AM start, (thats 7AM for you west coasters). Breakfast and baseball--I dont know if they'll be having bacon and eggs at Fenway or not--but they should
  19. So where are we going? I feel like there is a continuation of last year ( I guess technically its a continuation of the same year) Johnny Sack is dead, Little Carmine is opting out, Phil seems to want revenge against Tony, The New York Clan is rudderless in a shambles and running way too loose. Tony (via Carmela's interpretation of Cleaver) is questioning Christopher, yet was named Chris's childs Godfather (nice touch to end having war drums beating during the church ceremony...). It feels more and more as if the whole series is a search for identity, mostly centered in Tony but with almost everyone in the series Bobby Bacalla didnt really do a clean hit in Canada, and has way too much of a conscience for that sort of thing, the FBI is building a RICO case on the gun charge ( Tony also has a new automatic weapon in his possession which complicates that matter..). I dont trust Janice as far as I can throw her. Carms ....ed at Tony because of Chris's movie ( which is not detined to win too many academy awards), AJ's girlfriend is alittle to annoying to last too much longer. Tony owes Doc a reminder for using Silvio as a screen and there is also a terrorist angle at Tony's ports. Tony's feeling his age, and with Johnny and Carmine gone, is the last of the line of the old school and knows it....and what was that blip with Melfi's psychiatrist watching the news all about? I dunno where this is all going ---anybody?--its gotta eventually be somrthing about those ducks
  20. I was thinking of that piece, thanks for posting that!
  21. McCourt sounds like a world class imbecile. Did too many people come to the park last year and he is trying to drive some away? or is he trying to get them po'ed enough so that they will resemble east coast fans? Either way doesnt sound like much of a businessman.-I hope it gets better for you out there Things are going good on this end, New Englanders are all wondering what the big fuss about JD was as he is off to a great start and folks are loving him. About the only strange thing so far is seeing all the Japanese advertising in the park.. No harm but so far its just a little too weird
  22. :) Ive heard that or something very similar a number of times in the last several years. I dont know much about David Icke,It seems to be a popular belief amongst the shamanic, indigenous and nature religions, who have no problem believing in shapeshifting and evil powers. I 'spose its sort of akin to the old way teaching on the sons of belial, or Carlos Castenada's shapeshifting sorcerer Don Juan Matus HERE'S an article I read about 6 or 7 years ago from a well known Zulu Shaman Credo Mutwa (excerpt)
  23. I found it incredibly hard to read my noted Bible for at least 10 years after I left., not because I couldnt physically read it but I'd read it and my mind would take off on one of the notes and off I'd be epiluo-ing all over the place. I set it down for a good 10 or 15 years, and if I decided to read a Bible, I would read either a clean one or a different version. It was still incredibly difficult just to read even that for the longest time, because my tendencey like TWI's was to jump all over the place, triggered by words and phrases instead of just simply reading
