I have never posted on this thread much, but just returned from the Mississippi Delta, and am definitely in love with the place, the history and the music, which is still as alive and real as it ever was-- maybe more later---and yes I found THE crossroads

I dont know what to think of this whole Bonds thing anymore, Im so tired of laboring over the steroids point the last few years-that, to me at least, it doesnt seem real that he is 16 away from Aaron and in a way sort of wonder why anyone is still counting.... It doesnt seem right to me, and I feel no excitement in it at all(of course Im about a billion miles away from SF and havent been watching the ball fly out of the park, and I never get to see him since he is in the NL anyway --so maybe Im too detached--I dunno, Im sorta hoping that Selig doesnt show up and they dont make a big deal out of 756--maybe hand him a golden jar of cream or something and leave it at that.... I suppose this should have gone in the regular bball thread but Im too lazy to bring it over there..... Im off on the road in the morning for about 2 weeks without a comp so hold the fort.....I'll be back when I can. Dont miss DiceK on Sunday night baseball ESPN, I swear he has 7 or 8 good pitches----I'll be watching from Delaware--then you can go back to the regular thread----I'll catch up later Happy Trails

Hi Ala I was/am a huge Jethro Tull fan, their early stuff especially for me when I was younger conjured up inner imagery of of all sorts of medieval and mysterious things. I was making a stained glass window for an old cathedral that evoked the same feelings one time and while listening to Tull painted a small image of Anderson in silhouette from the Living in The Past cover in an unobtrusive spot in the window as sort of an iconic image that would blend in with the other images in the window as sort of a personal thank you to what his music meant to me. Fast Forward about 10 years I find the Jethro Tull website on the new to me internet and Ian Anderson has an email address, so I wrote him a fairly substantive letter thanking him for his music, what it had meant to me blah blah and telling him the story about putting his picture in a stained glass window ina cathedral I never heard back from him but about a year later the new Tull album came out: and the album cover art was the same image of Anderson that I described silhouetted in a stained glass window-- :) To stay clear It wasnt my art that actually made the cover, but it did fit the description very closely that I wrote to him.... (this is the only photo I can find which isnt too good) Its probably all a coincidence but when I first saw it it sure made my day

Win or lose I love these games that go to the very last pitch (of course winning the is even better is for Bolshevik

thats hard for me to believe in this day and age...I cant remember the last Sox game that wasnt on TV on some channel, even if I dont catch them all.. i was out driving around in Rhode Island last week and listened to my first radio game in quite awhile and found it nostalgic and verry enjoyable---thats an option for you Rock--It made me feel like I was 12 again. Boston 7 NY 4 thanks to Coco and a blast by Ortiz--bottom of the fifth

My Pleasure I dont know if this qualifies as music or not, but it is a sound that I really like and reaches someplace important and centering within me. Unfortunately I just have a short clip HERE My friend Ed played with Frank Zappa for about 15 years, now he plays and makes sounds with gongs and bells and and things...He does sound healing seminars now,, although he is really just an old rock and roller. After a few minutes of him playing live you are like anew person

Ah Ha! Welcome back to the real world! Scream yell and cheer all you want Bolshy---you earned it! *** Was Gibsons blast in '87...88 maybe? i was still more or less in, but even then it had the ring of such incredible drama with Gibson hobbling to the plate, that it could never have been written or scripted better than it actually happened, it will forever be an iconic image of baseball... Y'all get to see Josh Beckett today, if you're watching( FOX @ 4 Eastern)...The '03 Series MVP seems much more mature so far this year, I think a big reason is he is seems to be trusting Varitek to call the game instead of just trying to overpower everybody like a willful kid--

Heres a few from one of my favorite guitarists, unfortunately there arent many clips of him as he spent the better part of his life being a poor street gospel singer, singing Jesus songs for sparechange and developing an incredible guitar style and it wasnt until the folk scare of the early 60's that he got 'discovered', became the mentor to an untold number of great guitar players and became fairly well known.Anyway from Rev Gary Davis heres two: Hope you donr mind a gospel mood--i can always listen to Rev Davis

Cora's bloop single did remind me of Gonzo's in '01 which was one of the most exciting moments I had ever seen... When the ball went into the RF corner in the 8th I was screaming at the top of my lungs for no one to touch the damn ball. Thankfully they all heard me from my living room and Varitek tied it. There is always something good about late inning comeback wins, but when they are against Rivera, the best, from 4 down they are even more sweeter. Tomorrows games on Fox (y'all know I can do without Buck and McCarver) and Sunday night ESPN. I hope that the national broadcasters drop all the hype and just let the games be what they are --which is more than enough in itself... Are you out of towners surviving the hype? Hiway? what was the national ESPN coverage like?

Schilling has been battling all night and doesnt have great command of his pitches tonight. Its been that way with him early on this year, sometimes he's Curt, other times he battles like a bulldog, tonight looks like a night he is fighting without his best stuff. I'll reiterate what I said about Arod befor who has 11 homeruns by april 20th? He's in a zone

I think it actually is in memory of Red Auerbach, who died recently (Who IIRC won 11 world chmapionships in the NBA -never mind running the teamand changing a sport for over 50 years---Bill Russell was ready to throw out the first pitch but was rained out a few days back. Bob Cousy is in the booth on the local feed now Its hard to believe the zone that ARod is in right now

I'll take the bet that they beat that one Raf put it up and I'll match it

Yup got my 100 do I win a trip somewhere?

OOOOOO AHHHHHH --- What the heck good did it do him if he couldnt even figure out not to boink those he was 'serving' in the body of christ, still liked to yell and spit on people and spent a large amount of his time acting like an ignoramous? other than buildup his own inflated sense of self importance. anything at all? Talk about straining at a gnat I suppose that there is nothing wrong with finding interesting details but they shouldnt be an end unto themselves. What is the practical import of a lot of their stuff? The Way's penchant to want to razzle dazzle people left giant obvios unfilled gaps in the hull of their sinking ship. Give me someone who who lives the basic simple message anyday

Im not reading any tea leaves yet, and arent looking for signs --just well turned DP's in the clutch will do :) Whether this year or not is THE year I dunno---it was a well played game and fun to watch. and that was enough for me ---I can take it for that. I'll leave the prophecies up to Spiderwoman Graeser

Well this started out about Dan Stevens --sorry to derail the thread, but seeing James Montgomery in Clarksdale will be a treat. I was a huge James Montgomery fan in the early 70's and used to see him regularly in the Boston area, weve both changed some since then, it seems appropriate to see him again for the first time in along time'at the crossroads'. thanks for the tip

Tough to predict, the Sox are pitching well with Schilling, Becket and Matsuzaka up for the series, All I know about the Yanks is that if he keeps up the pace ARod will have about 150HRS and 350 RBI's. this year As long as the Sox starters can keep going 7, they'll be OK. I shy away from predicting* 3-2 works for me, but if the sox are down 0-3 and win 4-3 , i'll feel right at home * "In baseball you dont know nuthing" Yogi Berra

Baseball like baseball should be played tonight--I got home in the 8th with the sox struggling and down against Roy Halliday, who is a certified Sox killer, and the BJays. Inextricably Halliday was removed with a low pitch count, with 1 out in the eighth, a single and a two out homer by Manny ties it up about 10 minutes later in the eighth, So much for a great performance from Halliday. A Great defensive play by Alex Cora turning a DP in the bottom of the 8th saves a run keeping the Jays from going ahead and ends the inning. Cora triples in Lugo in the top of the 9th to take the lead. ( I like these ex dodgers!!) Bottom of the 9th-Papelbon is lights out. Give 'em a "W" Well played Good baseball

Not this time-it just didnt work out--next time through

I'll let you know Belle. it sounds like a grand time. For some reason Im getting work in Mississippi lately so it may work out--or hell --I just may go anyway As it is I'll " " at Highways 61 and 49 in Clarksdale, MS in homage to Robert Johnson sometime next week, which should be good in and of itself. I'll see for myself if Legba shows up or if my playing improves

planned obsolescence is my guess *** I honestly dont know much about either Saturns or Taurus but when I am in the market for a vehicle i usually check out www.edmunds.com. They have reviews, ratings, used vehicle values, and other info all of which I have found accurate. For a few bucks they also have a method to trace the history of the individual vehicleyou may be thinking of purchasing. Click around for awhile and you can find out quite abit Good luck. Happy Motoring

Thanks Belle! Im going down to look at a job, If things work out maybe I can schedule it in for Blues Festival Week (of course I probably wouldnt get much work done.. ) Until then Walnut Street sounds good to me. I spose if I have to miss Bluesman Dan its appropriate to have to go to the center of the real blues. After 4 or 5 trips to the state the last few years Im learning to really love Mississippi
