  1. i was out fidgeting with the lawn mower, coming in and out....5th. nothing....7th nothing..... 8th nothing.....came in for the ninth and it was 5-2 bases loaded....WHA??? ..and a mellow nice day with an eh game, turned into a top of my lungs cheering at the TV, riveting pitch by pitch afternnon... Bolsh :) I know its only 5/13 but this is one special team
  2. Holy Camolie ! Did anyone else see that? Bolshevik? Episdoe 12,391 WHY YOU NEVER EVER EVER EVER LEAVE A GAME EARLY Sox down 5-0 with 1 out in the bottom of the ninth (and have done absolutely nothing all day) erupt for 6. win 6-5 HOOOOWAH!! Thats exciting! Thats baseball! Happy Mothers Day!!
  3. Best of Luck again Mark just curious, I obviously dont know much about the particulars, and as I said I left corporate life a long time ago because of crap like this, but this stuck out I know you have a military background, work in DC and that would be an almost natural inclination under the circumstances and could be one way to handle it, but there may be a third less obvious alternative somewhere between leaving or destroying, that hasnt been considered that could keep your ethics intact and still rectify the situation You may be right, probably are, and I should be buttin out, but your impulses and inclinations might not be the only way to solve the situation. Youve studied the lives of the saints more than anyone I know, and from the little that I know, they always seemed to ba "at a crossroads" and often found new ways to deal effectively with very hard problems in a christian manner without sacrifing themselves, their faith or those that they cared for.. Personally Im a beleiver that there is always an alternative especially when I cant see one I trust that you have consulted with your priest or some trusted spiritual advisor, and have listened in prayer...... I'll keep prayin for you and I'll shut up and wish you the best /descend soapbox Its always the little jobs that are a nightmare
  4. NY is fun, you will never, ever run out of things to do, I can have a good time just walking down the streets of Manhattan and seeing what comes next, its so full of stuff. Its also a lot safer and friendlier than it used to be ( I think it got voted (surprise) worlds friendliest city a few years back.) Stay in one of the Time Square hotels and walk around Broadway, even an avowed country boy like me had a ball.. Gees Im not much help Im agreeing with everybody.. Where do you want to go excie, Im game
  5. I honestly have no idea where the money goes, but if I heard that I'd certainly be long gone from there ( well I'd probably never really be there to begin with anyway) My job has me working in a lot of churches, a good 90% have the financial report laying out in the front lobby for anyone to take. If they cant be truthful with you in simple things, how the hell can they represent "the truth"?
  6. Im in a nice place but a little too far away to get here in 8 hours from Ohio(The Berkshire Hills in Western Massahusetts)*. I can reiterate that Amish country in PA has a lot of charm to it, If you take the Pa Turnpike, you'll also be driving close by Gettysburg if the Civil War hold any interest for you. "Edit-- I checked its 10 1/2 hours from Columbus to here. Quaint, picturesque, laidback New England vacation towns and villages in the mountains, Arts, crafts, museums, shops good restaurants, theater, hiking, kayaking, etc if you are interested I can give you a rundown
  7. I dont think that I could say anything that would make any difference but I do understand in a way your dillemma, I left any vestiges of the corporate world a long time ago for a simpler life because of similar reasons. It made me sick, It seems to be the way the whole system works. at times. I wont offer you any unneeded advice, your a smart man an ethical man and a spiritual man, and eventually you will find the right avenue to work through this--- my thoughts and prayers will be with you Mark
  8. Well weve been blessed over the years to watch some great pitchers and see at least a fairly good chunk of the arc of their careers with Clemens and then Pedro. Now a still young Beckett has tremendously matured and changed in the short time ( one year plus)he has been here. The elders, Schilling, who is a very similar type pitcher, and Varitek, who calls a great game and is as smart as anyone in baseball, can only have a good influence in helping him continue to develop and blossom. He's much more fun to watch this year, because he is much smarter and learning how to PITCH as opposed to relying solely on his natural abilities. If he is lucky enough to stay healthy ( knock wood)and continues to learn he could be one of the top guys of his era, and its not just because Im a Sox fan that I say that ---his stuff can be formidable....

    Barry Bonds

Love you too I'd love to talk with your Yankee fan Brothers ( especially now, when the Sox are up 7 games ) We have a lot to talk about... and keep mackie in shape -- we'll be needing a catcher up here for the 2017 season, he'll get a lot more than mozzarella sticks
  10. I saw Leo about 3 or 4 months ago, his new stuff is incredibly progressive and interesting, I'd be interested to hear what you think...and Doc I saw last summer, with his grandson (Merle's son) whose name escapes me right now, and Jack Laurence. He is in his 80's now, but still as amazing and quick as ever. He is a real national treasure and is still worth going out of your way to see if he comes anywhere near you (or even if he doesnt't-go somewhere and see him-its worth it and he wont last forever)

    Barry Bonds

I almost accidently hit Nancy Kerrigan in an icestorm a few weeks after that event (another story for someother time) thankfully I missed and didnt make the news along with whatshisname... As far as Schilling goes--well ---he can sometimes be insightful, and sometimes he can be annoying, but whether people agree with him or not. it was sort of refreshing to hear someone from baseball say something, since Selig has gone into his guarded underground bunker and wont utter a peep aboiut anything and seems totally lost as to what is happening....Too bad Bart Giamatti isnt still around. BUT..BUT..BUT...most importantly figure out that damn camera Excie (mine takes vids!) keep us posted and get some pics up here :) let him know he has a national fan base too!

    Ballpark Fans?

There is something special about the ballparks we love, its hard to put a finger on it. I still to this day get goosebumps and a momentary skipped heartbeat when I walk through the tunnel at Fenway Park, catch my first glimpse of the left field wall, see the green green grass, smell the ballpark smells of hot dogs and beer, feel the electricity and buzz in the air, and get flooded with memories of the times I have been there over the last 40plus years. ...(..i sat right over there for my first game with my Dad when Mickey mantle hit 2 Homeruns to beat the Sox, and I was over there during the 6th game of the World Series when I was 12, .....me and my grandfather sat over there and he told me stories of seeing Ruth here and Lefty Grove and Ted Williams....that was the same day that Yaz went 5 for 5 and made a great throw to the plate.....etc.......) combined with the anticipation of that days game I still remember my very first time entering it how it took my breath away, and somehow it was something very very special that I cant really relate in words Ballparks can be like cathedrals to me, everyone has its own feel and aura, but I dont think I have ever been anyplace else you can unexpectedly leap to your feet and find yourself high fiving, and hugging complete strangers who are just as happy as you are to do it... I love the older parks myself, the ones that are filled with history, no matter where they are, they hold a lot in them. Fenway Park opened in 1912, (the same day the Titanic sank-so it got bumped off the fromnt pages) so it holds alot of things, I guess technically its not much, its old its in a strange neighborhood, the seats are cramped but it means alot to me. is a video someone made of a tour of the Park and neighborhood...I'm attached to fenway(obviously) but I understand what you mean, when I travel I'll go out of my way to go see a stadium or find myself pleasantly surprised and get aminor rush to just happen to pass by one as I did a few weeks ago to seeing Alabama Crimson Tide's Stadium in Tuscaloosa unexpectedly, or as I did a few years ago driving way out of my way to go to The Field Of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa
  13. Alright Belle! The Brothers make an appearance , I love it!It actually turned into a nice day, almost like the first day of summer---I found this Ella and Satchmo tune, I hope nobody minds these old movies,I'm lovin' 'em

    Barry Bonds

Im not dishin I'd take Mackie or any little league game over 10 Barry Bonds anyday of the week, Those guys are extremely lucky to make their living playing a GAME, and still crap all over it, little leaguers play because they love it. Bonds could learn alot of things from your average 11 year old
  15. I'll take two weeks in Paris this time of year. That sounds like just what the doctor ordered.... Oh....er...um... the country...the country I mean ....fine wine, museums, cafes, cathedrals.. eh nevermind I dont know anything about TVGurll
  16. So...um...er...whats happeing out there besides Bonds Watch and Clemens ,,which is getting way old---- have the stRangers clinched yet? :) do the Ranger fans have a name? The Melting Texans maybe? Sox swept the BlueJays over here I was surprised they beat Roy Halladay 8-0, who has been a certified Sox Killer, but the Jays seem to be in freefall right now
  17. And heres some slow blues for you A La -- Sonny Boy Williamson and Otis SpannIm liking this youtube

  19. I woke up this morning to a pouring rain---my first thoughts were.."let it rain..let it pour..let it rain a whole lot more... which naturally lead to this old Doc Watson classic after alittle searching a laso found this duet with Doc and Leo Kottke doing Last Steam Engine Train on Prairie Home Companion, which I think I could enjoy watching anyday of the week

    Barry Bonds

Now theres something worth talking about... Hows Mack doin? is he getting to pitch this year ?
  21. So Is there anybody in there? info supplied to this point implies that it is questionable ....... ........buddy looks a helluva lot more like a roving ball of irrational and misdirected anger than an anybody from here
  22. Funny post Friscoguy First you quote Then comes: Hellooo! is there anybody in there? just knock if you can hear me... What do you care if Jonny wants to verify a story anyway and who are you to tell him to drop it, its none of your business
  23. mstar1

    Barry Bonds

Agreed! I like a clutch homerun as much as anyone BUT There is a LOT more to the game that is more important and I really could care less to see a 'highlight' if someone hits one when the score is 9-1 (or something) which only pads stats and momentarily oohs and ahhs the crowd. Give me a well executed hit and run, or a good throw from right to third to cut down a crucial runner anyday
  24. I cant verify that story, but for what its worth (if anything) I do have a video of Wierwille teaching at the big tent during Living Victoriously. Wierwille is pontificating about some point or another, stops, gets a funny look on his face and says' Thats a damn dog barking!" He goes back to teaching for about 15 seconds, looks up again with an odd look and says "Chris Geer shoot that dog!" starts laughing, then goes back to teaching. Whether anything became of it I dont know, but I do have it on video. maybe some techie can explain to me how to get it on youtube
