  1. I'll be watching for the Johniam highlights on baseball tonight! ...... StrangOne--perhaps just perhaps the StRangers have reversed strategies this year, and folded at the beginning and will have the late season rush......4 runs in the ninth...sounds like its too soon to tune out just yet..... ...first hidden ball trick Ive seen in awhile the other night....that was sort of fun ...Rock is it just my imagination. It looks/sounds like 2/3 Sox fans down in AZ this weekend, the papers up here are calling it "Fenway in the desert" DiceK vs The Unit today will hopefully be a good one...
  2. Interesting twist I actually thought similarly that they will be shown as kids thinking/dreaming of their futures that havent happened... one thing Im pretty sure of ....well ....maybe....as the credits roll, the ducks will be flying
  3. Is lookin that way, the way he continually gets stuck in pretzel logic.. Bolshevik had the underlying purpose of the class right in the first place..
  4. it took longer than a NY Minute to land that fish
  5. Wasnt she also with Ralph Ciparello for awhile as well, after the born again guy with narcolepsy, who was constantly asking Tony if he had heard the good news? Ive missed a lot of episodes--maybe she'll have to disapear and end up in a cult in ...say..Ohio or something--in which she'd be the perfect rising star. Its never been predictable.. Tony gets hit, and falls into a long dream sequence of being 12 with his young friends P*ssy, Sil, and Paulie--- it ties together some things, but leaves a lot more things unanswered and raises yet more questions....in the end we dont know if he lives or dies, only lingering questions to muse on until... The Movie Parts 1-3 with options for 2 more
  6. two versions for a lazy Saturday mornin'
  7. You were spot on with your assessment last winter on Drew--A hot April, then he has been batting somewhere around .160 since May 1st ---one 7 RBI game moves him from 17 RBI to a semirespectable 24 for the year but doesnt tell the whole story ....even though Lugo homered I have to think we are in the market for a new SS, leadoff hitters that bat .217 dont cut it, and he hasnt been such the whiz fielder as advertised... the sox have been going through SS's like water the last few years... Nomar, Orlando Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, Edgar Renteria, Alex Gonzalez I'd like to see what their combined stats are about now..
  8. True. I know What if? What if? What if Ted Williams didnt miss 5 years? What if Steve Bartman didnt go to that game? What if alot of things.... -------------------- The Sox announcers played by the 'rules', going in very round about ways and never daring utter the words "no hitter", during the whole game. The girlfriend finally figured out what was happening in the ninth and said " Gee-He's got a nohitter!" I cringed- then right then --Bam-hit to right--I could have crowned her. I had tried to explain the traditions and rules while it was happening but she didnt get it----Im pretty sure it was her fault. What if?
  9. Cool synchronicity i was lookin for a good video of Dignity to email off just yesterday---That'll work! Thanks!
  10. So the Sox roll into Rocky and Simon land tonight Its been a June swoon so far,(losing 5 out of 7) which was more or less predictable (I said a few pages back that the April/May Sox couldnt go on forever...). Schillng pitched a real masterpiece just when it was needed yesterday in Oakland, no hitting the A's for 8 2/3rds, before shaking off Varitek and then allowing the only hit of the game in a 1-0 win. A needed win and why he makes what he makes... he can have the rest of his life to play "What if I hadnt shaken off Varitek" now....
  11. Which naturally ( Huh?) leads to: The water is Wide by Ed Gerhard
  12. Sorry --I couldnt stp laughing when a friend sent it to me this morning, It had about every blues cliche---I lost it when I read 'the same policy applies to her biscuits, which may be buttered only by Jackson. ' I better post something beofre I get in trouble.... Taj Mahal--Sittin on Top Of The World for front porch pickers
  13. This isnt a song, but blues fans will love it.... Blues Singer's Woman Permitted To Tell Her Side Of The Story
  14. Crap, This cant be good, Considering the region has never experienced a hurricane, let alone a strong one it is highly unlikely the loading facilities or platforms were constructed to withstand the forces - that they will experience. At the very least tankers will be slowed way down, at the worst there could be serious damge to facilities that could lhave along term impact You're right--this aint gonna be good
  15. I guess its that time of the year when things go weird, fistfights in dugouts, managers throwing handgrenades, teams changing their names-- This is the latest Manny moment --someone caught him listening to his Ipod. iProtest I dont think this will fly for too long....
  16. You're very welcome IMO you can never go wrong with Ry Cooder, one of the great underated guitar players/musicians/musicologists of our time It is sometimes frustrating here, because he, like a lot of other artists that I like, have flown under the commercial radar most of their careers. so their best stuff (or any of their stuff in alot of cases!) is hard to find on the internet, even though he has been recording top quality stuff in many genres for 40 years
  17. I wasted a huge span of my youth marking where every Also belonged in the sentence. Is "also" a preposition? I DONT FLIPPIN CARE! What a huge waste of time TWI was

    Literals

Ditto on what Sudo said, somewhere i might have Wierwilles bastardization of a few epistles which he called literal somethingsomethings but were literal junk, twisted to suit his ends, other than that Im not sure I know what you mean... I can go check to see if they are lining the bird cages if you want, ....Or are you talking about the interlinear word for word translation? either way I MIGHT have them if you are patient, thats about all I have neither of which I really would phrase as 'literal'
  19. Preachers? Really? You must hang out in much different circles than me I hear what your saying but I disagree, some do, depending on the audience i suppose, but most seem to cuss because they either dont have the ability to communicate clearly and soundly, or are just control freaks who cant stand the thought that they are not God , revered or bowed down to.. The only thing that video communicated to me was that Gene Scott was an angry, frustrated, self important whiny old turd with a bag load of control issues, He wasnt exactly displaying the 'peace that passeth all understanding" or any other discernable christian fruit that I'd want to pursue..... but ..have at it if you desire to turn into a knowledgable but very warped old man some day --I did find it entertaining and humorous though, if only because it was so absurd
  20. A little tuesday morning Gospel anyone? This is an old Rev Gary Davis tune, by two of his long ago students David Bromberg and Jorma Kaukonen. Why didnt I follow Rev Davis instead of Wierwille:doh: ?? and here's another old standard from Ry Cooder, one of my favorite slide players
  21. I honestly dont know whats up with JD, I was on the road for about a week and a half and JD sort of got lost in the mix, things were going good so I havent hunted down any info yet....One kid that is incredibly exciting you should watch close is the rookie second baseman Dustin Pedroia. I read an amazing stat today on him- "On May 3rd, Pedroia swung at and missed a 2-1 pitch from Julio Mateo. Since then he has swung at 139 pitches and missed 4." WOW He had rough April adjusting into the Bigs, but has settled in and hit something ridiculous like .410 or so for the month of May. He struck out twice the entire month, and is in the .330's now. He is listed at 5'8" but I bet he is 5'6" at the most, and looks like he is about 19 yo, Im sure you'd like the 'little guy' He'll be around for awhile He and Kevin Youkilis, (who is hitting in the .350s) will probably be making waves for a long time to come Schilling has been spotty without his good command and has had to battle during his last few starts...only a few times this year has he been right on, commanding and barely hittable, most of the time its been hard working Curt having to battle his way out of jams throughout games-which he can also be good at,... It would be great to see if it lines up for the '01 coMVP's to face each other, It never materialized while Johnson was in NY...It would be right for it to happen in AZ. I should have taken your advice and gotten on to this and figured it out earlier-The Red Sox are offering packages to the AZ series starting at a mere $2000.00
  22. Wow I was just talking about Clete the other day with a friend , its odd, I remember him as being THE thirdbaseman when I was about 9 as well, before Robinson was so well known. When I was learning to field, my now brother in law, circled Cletes hands on his baseball card, to drive home the point to use both hands, It went up on my wall and stayed there for a very long time. Its been awhile since I have taken any grounders but If I took infield today, I'm sure that I'd still reach with both hands thanks to Cletes card from the early 60's. Thank you Clete --Rest In Peace
  23. You pretty much had him pegged He was out of the gate fast in April, went into a horrible slump for most of May, and has already spent too much time not playing because of injuries. With the team up as much as it is, it generally gets overlooked, but you were essentially right about him being 'the invisible man', some of his atbats have been horrible and he just looks lackadaisacal to me so far. We'll see--its hard to be too upset about anything when you are up 10 games though Thankfully, others have picked up the slack
  24. Here are a few from an original guitarist that I havent heard in awhile but I always liked. Michael Hedges. Its hard for me to believe that this stuff is 20 years old.....He was taken from us when he was much too young.
  25. This is an extraordinary movie documenting the daily lives of the Carthusuain Monks at Grand Chartreuse Monastery in the French Alps. It is a difficult movie to describe and to me one that is not so much to be watched as experienced. The entire movie is a near impressionistic meditation that opens a doorway to the possibility of transcendence The monks in the thousand year old monastary are cloistered and live in near total silence, there is no musical score, very little converstaion and only one brief interview........if you are waiting for a carchase scene or some special effects extravaganza this movie isnt for you, but if you want a glimpse of a much slower, gentler and more spiritual world you may like it. To me it was challenging to watch, and very evocative Review from Slant Review from Roger Ebert Review from Rotten Tomatoes Review from Decent Films This one is probably not playing at the local multiplex, if you have an inclination to see it, it is worth hunting down
