Lord help me, give me patience --They are interviewing Ortiz, talking about Carmona and she is rambling on about Andre Agassi

a little So far this has been the most relaxing postseason that I have ever lived through, none of the gut wrenching anguish and mideval torture of past years has happened this year which I am liking alot.. A nonbaseball fan has just invited themselves over to watch tonights game which is throwing me way off, Like alot of baseball fans I have my pregame, game, and postgame rituals and I hate to mess with a good thing especially during a good streak Do you guys/ladies have any game rituals?

Manny gets some bad rap from out of towners at times because of his Mannyness, his oddities and idiosynchrocies, but despite his little kidness he works very hard. This postseason (so far) He and David Ortiz are 12/19 with 16 BB and a HBP, 1 2B, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 12 R, combined .632 Average .806 On base percentage Ortiz is more impressive with his .778/. 889 with Manny at a paltry .500/.722. Almost impressive as the Rockies streak :) Its not all blasts either, two of Manny's big atbats last night were working bases loaded walks after falling behind both times 0-2. It wasnt very sexy but it was impressive. I like someone working a walk when down 0-2 The first one was a real turning point when the game was tied. Its the little things done well that win playoff games

There is no one on earth who is quite like Manny, I have enjoyed watching him every minute of the last 6 years, he is an absolutely unique, and endearing character from his very own planet and when he gets in the groove (which he is right now) there is no one anywhere that I would rather see hit, and not just because Im a Red Sox fan but because he is probably the purest natural hitter I have ever seen. When the Manny era ends in Boston I am really going to miss it....Id lend him out but only if i can get cable Cleveland, he is way too much fun to see everyday... The Red Sox are well prepared and have moved their game up a notch ( well a few notches really) in the playoffs. It makes for really well played baseball so everybody better bring their best. As much as I would like to win this year, it is not as urgent to me as its been in the past., I understand what its like to go for decades upon decades of almosts and not even closes. Of course I'd like to win, but what it does for a city is almost aform of redemption If I end up congratulating you, I'll be thinking of your grandfather in his red leather chair beating the TV, yelling for the Indians game during a tornado..my conratulations to you will be for him and all the other similar stories from Tribe fans as well. Good Luck O --and since I just think its a great picture (its my playoff avatar as well) here is Manny being Manny just last week

CC looked like he was overthrowing a bit, which I suppose would be natural being all hepped up for a playoff game and couldnt quite find his groove, even though he struck out the side in the second. I think the Red Sox batters deserve some credit though, they were very disciplined at the plate and strung (strang? stringed?) together great at bats. I only remember three bad pitches being swung at all night. Carmona's gonna be tough, real tough, he has come a long way this year. Hopefully from my side Schilling will pitch like he can, have his good command, and just make good pitches tonight. This year you never know who will show up, but he does step it up in big games and has reinvented his whole approach... We'll see ---Good Luck

No comment-- I have seen similar plays before but I do not recall it ever being called. I expect the pivotman (Tulowitski or Matsui)will drop down his arm slot to about face level in the future to cure Upton of his 'stumbling' though. If not in this series then next year. Clean or not, ( and I will add it looked cheap to me) that stuff doesnt fly for long in MLB

Yup a good portion of the time at home Im naked. I never really think about it all that much, I either am or Im not, unless I am cold, already dressed, or have to go somewhere (or cooking bacon or splattery things... ) I see no reason to put clothes on...Im comfortable and like it......of course I dont have kids, spouses, dogs or neighbors very close either to think about so its pretty easy....
-
Yes they have! do you think they have the maturity to go deep into the plaoffs? or is that whole 'playoff experience' thing overrated? the Red Sox have agood mix of veterans who have been there before and youngsters, Im hoping everyone gets achance to see Jacoby Ellsbury on the national stage, who made agreat catch as a defensive replacement on Wednesday. He is one very exciting ballplayer. Pedroia at 2nd should be Rookie Of The Year imo. John Lester came back from cancer at 23, and Papelbon in his 2nd year is one of the most intimidating closers I have ever seen up close..... 6 hours til game time...I hope the TBS production crew has worked out the glitches which were numerous last time around

Yea and I get your backhanded crack about the good and pure red sox, while missing most of the points of the post. Let it go, its a game Enoughs enough Beckett pitched one of the great games of post season history two days ago and tonight Matsuzaka is pitching the game that they got him for.....do you really think that I care about any of this other BS?

..and you have the same for Red Sox fans--- How obnoxious and horrible--etc. -they are...(but I have yet to read any actual stories) It also makes it hard to enjoy a game here when you always have some dig on the Red Sox, for whatever reasons you hold...(its baffling on this end...) This is a real news story about a real man in a real hospital in real intensive care for wearing the wrong hat in NY. You have no comment on that but want to make it about me???? A few weeks ago, you didnt seem to believe me, about my perceptions of going to a game in New York. This article from today, is not an opinion but a real fact of the reality of what it can be like to be a Red Sox fan in NY. If you want to be blame me, for pointing this out, or blame the kid, who got the Red Sox Suck autograph from a Yankee, instead of looking at the obviously disturbed individuals and recognizing that it is an actual real problem then so be it. Your choice, in my estimation, this kind of activity is absolutely inexcusable and it doesnt go away because you pretend it doesnt exist. It does whether you want to admit it or not. In truth I have no desire to have to talk about it either, There is playoff baseball being played, the best baseball of the year, that is much more important and thats 90% of my focus this time of the year. Its exciting (Duh) You were the one who started this whole thing with your near constant harping or subtle digs on Red Sox fans, It is NOT an objective viewpoint, The two cities are different, and the fans, although both loud are very different. Ill offer you a truce if you stop harping on Red Sox fans, and let people cheer for who they want without the snide and snarky remarks, then I'lll refrain from posting news stories that point out the difference

Id be all for that, I have joked about it for years---even though there already a lot of performance bonuses... I doubt that you would ever get it by the Players Union though....

Right on the heels? Read it again...According to Rhino's stats, the Red Sox are actually closer in payroll at least 25 other teams than they are to the Yankees, and this is before the luxury taxes. I am sure that the Red Sox owners would love nothing more than to field a team for 60 or 70 Million dollars, but in order to be competive in the AL EAST and take on the Yankee Deathstar they are in a position where they must spend some money or be mediocre both in baseball and as a business All businesses have to spend money in order to be competitive and successful, baseball is no different. That they were able overtake their chief competition and win the divison while spending a full third less after the luxury tax, than the Yankees, and having 1/20th of the population of NY to do it with,...( actually less than Baltimore, Milwaukee or Pittsburgh) speaks to their baseball and business abilities. It is the Yankees that have driven the market to the stratosphere, Baseball needs someone to take on the Yankees, if only to show that that they can be defeated at a more reasonable rate and by a team from a smaller marketplace
-
Im not generalizing, I know there are good Yankee fans, I know a lot of them, but where in Boston/New England you may get some playful verbal sparring, in NY it can be, more often than you think, downright dangerous to be a Red Sox fan More Love from Yankee fans

For Tom Strange --- if he is still with us.. HERES Gabe Kaplers playoff blogging. I am only catching bits and pieces of the game in Cleveland, Sabathia didnt have his normal command but still left with a 6 run lead. If they can get a win without an A game from Sabathia, they will be in a very very good position...

I am still amazed at Becketts game last night.. For some historical perspective, that was his 3rd career postseason shutout. Only Christy Matthewson, with 4, has more. The only other guys with 3 are Whitey Ford and Mordecai Brown. I think this list speaks for itself. He is only 27 Wow. just wow

That wasnt a matter of the Angels rolling over so much as Beckett picking it up a huge notch to real playoff level play--He was dominant tonight- dominant That being said, and I guess that I will just have to get used to it, the TBS coverage s**ks 4 different innings they overplayed commercials right into innings, missing pitches, had a lack of replays on questionable calls , and I am pretty sure the announcers didnt see either The Sox or the Angels all year long. They had a few canned stories that they told over and over, and missed obvious developments in the game ( They didnt announce defensive replacements nor who was warming in the bullpen), they had no crowd sounds to add to the atmosphere of the game...... ...AND....AND...If I have to continue to see those FrankTV commercials every half inning for the next few weeks... I.....I... just may have to stab someone with a fork... or something BUT most importantly a classic breathtaking pitching performance by Josh Beckett tonight 1 down 10 to go
-
Good luck Linda I actually like your chances Sabathia and Carmona are as good a 1-2 as there is in the league--- in a short series they will be tough...very tough. of course I just watched a masterful 4 hit complete game shutout by Josh Beckett so Im feeling pretty good right at the moment and willing to spread it around but I really do like your chances .............
-
Lackey is 19-7 vs. the rest of the AL and 0-2 this year vs. the Sox. I cant really tell you why---- Beckett definitely brought his A game and is looking tough, If Figgins opening ground ball had been nailed by Pedroia we would be on perfection,
-
Did you ever figure out the HD Rock? Im having sound problems on regular TBS, Not an ounce of crowd noise , which I know is deafening and pumps up the adrenaline alot.. Im not too enamored with these announcers either Some announcer guy : My first rule of playoff baseball, is that they should polish their helmets Yeah Ok Thats important

Do any of you others think that the entire month of October should be a national holiday(s) ? I have abillion things I should be doing but I have no desire at all to go to work--- it would probably end up like Rockies just took the opener. I was impressd as I havent seen them all season until now... Beckett vs Lackey coming up
-
Well y'all know that I might be just slightly biased toward one team but it is good for baseball, and if the Phils or especially the Cubs come out on top, (nothing against the other teams--I just have my biases) I'll probably be able to put away my disappointment. Now--lets get these games rollin! this wait is killin me....
-
Wow what a way to start the postseason! What a great game... I smell a good October comin on....
-
Well it was. Im sure there are people who still call him that. There was a lot of redemption that went around after The Win finally came in 2004. A lot. I was at that game in 1978, but 26 years later Bucky, at least to me, lost his middle name, and just became another guy with his own little footnote in history. The sting is gone--its all erased and seems like distant memory...its interesting what winning one crucial game can do--even if you have to wait 26 years for it to happen

also ----I havent locked my door in about 7 or 8 years and I leave the keys in my car. Maybe people do that elsewhere i dont know. As far as I know everyone around here does. A Girlfreind sold her house recently and didnt even have a key to give to the new owners-she had lost it about 15 years prior and never even thought to replace it. I left my shop not only unlocked but the door propped open by mistake about a year back and was gone for a 4 day weekend. This was on the Main Street in town. Nobody disturbed 10s of thousands of dollars worth of tools-The door was still wide open when I got back---That aspect I like--I certainly wouldnt try that in Hot "Lanta

Ive never seen that movie so I dont anything about know Hale Maryland.. I do live in a small town of 10,000, and honestly its getting alittle too big for me...Yes everyone listens to the local radio station, you can go to the general store and listen to live music every other wednesday night or go to the apple sqeezin festival (like i did this weekend), and we have managed to keep out most of the chain stores and maintain local businesses, but its not like the movies. We have ahuge influx of tourists and there is also a 'metropolitan air' to the town. There are enough art galleries, theaters, music venues and 4 and 5 star restaurants to keep you busy for months. I see way more lexus' and mini coopers than I do horse drawn carriages, and although I still see cows, horses, deer and other wildlife most everyday and am surrounded by mountains and streams and large open places, I am more likely to run into a stockbroker, an international artdealer, an opera singer or a cell phone designer than an actual farmer or someone who works with their hands. Some of that stuff is all interesting but it is not exactly why I came here... Although there is a good sense of community for the most part--Ive almost had enough of this 'big city life' the next town will probably be about 500 people, if i ever get around to moving I doubt anything approaches the idyllic vision of the movies but Some of the rural towns of New England can come fairly close--or at least as close as I have ever seen
