Francona hooked Dicek wasy too soon imo, It was 6-0 at the time and he was throwin well. The bullpen has nothing so far Papelbon is gonna have to shut this down. huge heads up steal of third by Lowell as I speak

.....Im really curious to see where the Sox outfielders play in this game....All week I have heard about the vast acreage at Coors...The Rocks have a decided advantage at this. Im going back and forth between deep or shallow, leaning toward shallower as the place to be... as Im more concerned about runners taking an extra base on shallow hits when the OF is deep than I am about the ball being hit over an outfielders head, but I dont know the Rocks hitters that well... and well..I dont get to make the decision anyway... I wanna see how the Rox play it. I hope they show the OF alignments on Fox well enough. I think something as simple as that could decide any one of these games at Coors, akey extra base here or there, might be all it takes

...................... grumble...grumble...grumble.... Im conflicted I have a good client with an 'emergency situation', thats requiring me to pack up all my junk and drive 900 miles to Michigan tomorrow and stay for the rest of the week ---Im thinking ..." are you serious? IN the middle of the WORLD SERIES???? ...but I bit my tongue, ( &^%$%^%$!!!!) so I'll be away from here starting tomorrow .grrrrrrr /shaking my head...... I still think the World Series should be holiday ..sort of like Christmas week---where all bets are off as far as doing stuff.. Im sure next to nothing is getting done in school or work in Denver...or Boston.... anyway thanks for listening to me vent------again.... Thems some pertty bold predictions.... :) We will see but we will see...its a long ways until the end of this game.... and the DICEMAN cometh.. Im thinking Ellsbury will do something amazing tonight---dont underate him-hes just a kid -He is batting leadoff --It will be way bigger than a taco Time to break out the gyro ball The Rocks will be ...I can almost smell steak.....

Jim self promoted and self sold that tape , If I remember correctly. as well as doing all the music There was some reason that the wouldnt let him in the "official" bookstore even though he tried. I forget what the reason was... He gave me about 5 copies to help him sell, and then ..I never saw him again... It wasnt the most effective marketing method

It didnt take em long that T shirt was up about an hour after the steal-- Thats what I heard too. Boston fans who always love to travel to support the team were part of those 8.5million hits. We'll see how they did, there could be quite a few there. I didnt understand why the Rockies waited until the AL clinched instead of selling them immediately when they themselves clinched. I thiink it may have clogged them even more... Boston sold what tickets were available at Fenway by a lottery system which was a little better but still flawed. The commissioners office demands XXXX amount of tickets are available to every MLB team, So there are alot of people from other cities to begin with who are 'baseball fans' but not necesarrily loyal fans of either team who get to go. There are also a lot of promotional tickets available for celebrities, corporations and the like who mostly are there to be seen at "the event" , which leaves the locals and regular fans , as well as the opponents fans scrambling like mad dogs for a reduced number of tickets. It doesnt seem fair to me that the teams regular fan base doesnt get first shot, hopefully the regular "feel" of the stadium doesnt alter too much--but it could.... Do you think the Rocks are gonna change the lineup around, maybe its the layoff, maybe its WS jitters, maybe....,maybe...., maybe it will good for them to be home. It will be good to play baseball again. Ive heard enough of thin air, humidors and big outfields and breaking balls that dont break to take up a full day. Thats enough-lets play! I am looking forward to seeing Coors Field, and watching hit. Ive never seen him hit before -but he looks pretty good. We need some more pop in the lineup (I love the audio in that clip!) Game day! Is there anything any better?
-
I dunno -I didnt see it. Henry is a very quiet and soft spoken guy.. A friend called me today who was at the game and said that even though the place was populated with celebs, MLB muckety mucks, the 'brie and chardonnay'crowd, (his words) etc and not the regulars, the crowd was still as loud 'as a jet landing' at times...I dont know if thats what you saw or not----

Its a tough call but Youks is sittin and Papi is at first-at least for the first game. Its tough to sit someone as hot as Youkilis, we'll see what happens the other two games. In the interleague games earlier in the year. Youk played some third and there was sort of a round robin with Ortiz-Lowell-Youk alternating days off, but Lowell is much better at third, and I have to wonder if they will sacrifice his defense.... so I have no idea the next few games--We''ll have to wait and see, Francona isnt tipping his hand yet...I have no idea yet who will hit in the two hole yet -Im guessing either Ellsbury or Drew.. Coco was struggling (to put it mildly) in the Cleveland series. He had that deer in the headlights look when he was batting, It was pretty bad looking-- so Ellsbury started from game 6 on ( I think it was 6-the memory aint quite what it used to be....). Coco has been coming in in the late inning fro D, with Jacoby taking over in left for Manny Trivia moment that doesnt cost you any extra--Coco's Dad goes by the name of "Sugar"... As far as the Sgt Pepper Montage--It has the good and the bad, the famous and infamous-- all the history---Aaron Boone is even in there. Its great to tell stories from --Nuf Ced McGreevey of the Royal Rooters ( The 1903 version of Red Sox Nation) Lib Dooley who went to every single game at Fenway Park for over 50 years, tons of things to keep you busy and interested.... a good history lesson.........I just went back and checked Roger is in there . He is right where he should be between Luis Tiant and Pedro Martinez. The pitchers that were only known by there first names--you never had to say any more....gess what memories those three brought.... I gotta wonder if The Rocks are going to switch things around in the lineup to wake up the bats. Im not that familiar with how they play and move their lineup but I have heard that Tulowitski does well batting second, seems to me they have to start getting someone on in front of Helton and Holliday....soon ..... I thought this was a pretty good article on The Rocks....and the future of baseball

It was Dr Charles Steinberg, affectionately known these parts as "The Dentist" he has some PR title. I dont know Blake THIS PHOTO has alittle gizmo you can click to see who everyone is... Maybe you can find the Walrus---CooCoo Ka chu
-
Who is that Steinberg? he goes a little over the top , but I thought the official team photo this year that he made as a tribute honoring both the 40th anniversary of Sergent Peppers and The Impossible Dream Red Sox also of 1967 was fun... How many team photos do you see like this? Its got all the major figures of importance to the Red Sox of the last 100 years with the dividing line between black and white (Wizard of Ozlike) being 1967 NYTimes story. ..The "Sox Appeal" dating show at the park has got to go though
-
Thats alright Gagne was dominant..dominant I tell you..in game 1--He made all the difference He is learning to protect those double digit leads like a true master It certainly helps that they are all very disciplined hitters and whether they get a hit or whatever, the quality of there at bats -pitch by pitch -- has been stunning at points to watch. They also do their homework 4 hour meetings? maybe thats all normal in MLB, but time and time again I have heard players praise the advance scouts for their successes. I dont remeber hearing that too often before the last few years The whole organization works hard it from alot of different angles that arent always visible to the fans to make the whole organization and especially the team on the field successful. Ive praised the owners on this thread in the past, maybe someday I'll talk about it more, but it wasnt that long ago (6-7 years) that Fenway was going to be torn down and the RedSox were struggling, and couldnr compete with even Toronto and Baltimore, never mind NY--forget playoffs. They put together a very thorough approach and created the sort of Perfect Storm thats happening now... ............... O and its PAPELBON-but if you wanna call him Popelbloom that fine too (I love having a closer that is just a tad psycho..) and the dancing Papel Puppet when he came in last night may have been the sign of the year
-
Id love to see the day when Varitek takes off his mitt and uses both hands to give the sign Not all, but I think alot of especially younger teams fight and claw so hard to make it to the WS, that by the time that they get there, the "We're just happy to be here' awe hits them and they really dont go into that next notch that is required (most years) to come on top...but play like they have been hoping that is enough... the Rocks are young and no doubt will be around for a long time , (if they can keep them together) but other than Helton ( does he have playoff experience before this year?) they are really not that experienced. The mix of Veterans who have been there before(Schilling, Varitek, Manny, Beckett etc,) combined with the younger guys --Pedroia, Ellsbury, Papelbon etc--gives a good balance to the Sox At this point its hard to remember that the RedSox spent alot of years losing in the playoffs that gave them valuable experience on how to do this October baseball thing and do it right... To me its almost a different animal than the regular season.. It took a long time to build it

Thanks guys---I was very drained yesterday and didnt get to see much of the game so I cant really comment on much other than Im glad that Curt pulled it all together, and Okee dokee Okajima showed the country what I have been seeing all summer. We'll see what the thin air brings to DiceK next, and who sits---(glad Im not making that decision!) ....from the department of the never expected: first Rudy Giuliani, Mr Yankee was seen wearing Sox Gear, some of my yankee fan friends are too, now at the rabid antiSox NYYFANS.com there is actually a Go RedSox thread..... Somebody pinch me....
-
Personally Im all Torre'd out-- ...but HERE"Sa great story that got missed in yesterdays coverage while they were busy selling stuff. The whole story
-
I dont know Im not sure, i think he is on the cusp... Im a believer, you are because you were there, I think a big one today could seal his legacy- Today is October 25. which happenes to be St. Crispin's Day I got some apprpriate Henry V for the Warrior Curt
-
Not me--Im Ok, and baseball will definitely help but I would like to see them win it for my Dad sake, my Uncle Paul was his last surviving sibling. Pop is a huge Soxfan and it would give him a lift
-
No Sam Adams for me just yet, although on another board there was a very spirited discussion yesterday rating the World Series by the merits of Sam Adams vs Coors Light... Is it really a contest? ...... Im looking forward to seeing this kid with the 100mph fastball too, Schilling is a whole nother can of beans, Schillings smarts is what gets him through these days, and if he executes what he knows to do he will be very tough. With his post season record as it is over his career, Ive been wondring all week if a standout performance in this World Series nails him a shot at Cooperstown.... but thats a long way off lets see whos throwing strikes in the first inning before we go there

My uncle passed away last night, i found out this morning. He was old and full of days and lived a good life, but it took a little off of the day for me..... It reminds me of the scene in A League Of Their Own, when the telegraph from the war department came in...and finally at the end of the scene after the whole team is shaken up, Tom Hanks says "Come on we have a game to play today" Today feels a little bit like that right now. Its amazing to me how baseball marks the time, through ups and downs , joys and sorrows, ecstasy and grief, triumph and tragedy there is always ..baseball. alright----enough of that -we have a game to play today.. Go get em Curt
-
Im Ok Tom --I told you 11 or 12 runs is safe :) Thats a good word 'solid', great pitching, great hitting ---the only thing I didnt get was my free taco... Welcome back to earth all you Coloradans, you didnt think this cinderella thing would be easy didja? You got Curt Schilling (10-2 Lifetime in the postseason) in maybe his last game at Fenway. He will most likely be very tough comin at you tonight.....if you're gonna finish the dream -you are gonna have to really earn it..... Meanwhile... ....Its still rainin here at 4:30am ---will some ultrabeliever please pray this sh!t over to the Californians. Im trying-- but my effectual fervent prayer apparently isnt what it used to be.. DO WHAT YOU CAN Thanks
-
'scuse my lack of etiquette Welcome to playing the Jr. Circuit HAP
-
What the heck was that? Youkilis who is officially the slowest human in western civilization just scored from first on a single to left. Is Holliday hurt out there? or was that just Matty being Matty

Ive counted 38 commercials since the national anthem

I remember the gym teacher Coach White, interrupting class and rolling in the big school TV on the big rolling stand into our classroom and us watching the World Series nearly every year in school...It was almost expected, even the teachers who were really only going thrugh the motions on world series day, understood. Baseball and kids is foundational stuff It irks me, tonight the Red Sox are going to do a lot for the opening and pregame, of course the player introductions, Yaz is going to throw out the first pitch, members of the 40th anniversary 1967 team will be there, John Williams and the Boston Pops will play while the jet flyover is going on, and Fox is going to have me watching a thousand 'House' commercials ,listening to Jeannie "My voice can kill your children" Velasko, and hearing for the billionth time "There is only ONE OCTober!!". enough already. How they can be that out of it is inconceivable to me BUT it does speak of the amazing resilience that baseball can and will endure almost anything..... ANYWAY.... an hour and a half til gametime...Im still almost in a state of unbelief that Game 1 of the World Series is actually happening, today has seemed like at least three days to go by... If I had my way this would be a national holiday

..and I have too, and I'll in all likelihood continue to do it, Manny said it concisely in Cleveland "It dont matter-Its not the end of the world" Its not-- stay loose and play Its NOT heart surgery or fires, and that is precisely one of the points. Life could easily be swallowed up in 'wars and rumors of wars', sorrows and pressures, if there wasnt something to attach to that offered some of the simple joys of life away from the hardships and pains that can so easily surround us. Victory against odds can give strength and hope that filter into other areas of your life when you are forced to fight other things. Its rest and relaxation, exhiliration and sadness, community and common ground, baseball binds people together Was it in The Old Man and The Sea, when the fisherman expended his final strength thinking about 'the great Dimaggio'?...or something like that. So its less than a fire, It does Not curtail my enthusiasm for the game tonight, or ever, if anything it makes it stronger One other thing that I have to vent about These late start times are really bad news especially on weeknights. Its tolerable if inconvenient for me, but I just spoke to some 10 year olds who are severely bummin because they cant stay up to watch the game on a schoolnight. Is millions of dollars of 'primetime' advertising really worth more to MLB, than exposing the World Series to the next generation of fans? I doubt it. The lineups are just out for Game 1 ... Red Sox 1. Dustin Pedroia, 2B 2. Kevin Youkilis, 1B 3. David Ortiz, DH 4. Manny Ramirez, LF 5. Mike Lowell, 3B 6. Jason Varitek, C 7. J.D. Drew, RF 8. Julio Lugo, SS 9. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF SP - Josh Beckett Rockies 1. Willy Taveras, CF 2. Kaz Matsui, 2B 3. Matt Holliday, LF 4. Todd Helton, 1B 5. Garrett Atkins, 3B 6. Brad Hawpe, RF 7. Troy Tulowitzki, SS 8.
