The Riddle of the Sphinx isn't anything new. I've read about what the Sphinx is about from other sources. In fact, I've run across lots of things in other sources that we were told were exclusive to the inner sanctum of TWI.

They liked to teach about phileo and agape. Phileo was for the lower beings, it was only emotional, it was conditional, it was human. Thus, we need not pay it much heed. BUT AGAPE, now that's love. We don't need no phileo. Or eros, unless you're top leadership, and you can have all the eros you want from whoever you want, because you're so spiritual and full of AGAPE that you can handle it.

The most ludicrous thing you heard, from those "in da know"
outandabout replied to Ham's topic in About The Way
We were taught in the Advanced Class that the devil can dematerialize things. Vee Pee said he thought it happened when one time something at their office disappeared, and no matter how much they searched, they couldn't find it. I remember thinking, "That's the only time that's ever happened to you???" To this day that crosses my mind when things seem to "disappear." Usually they show up, but other times I wonder. Where do things go? -
Just thought of another dream. I'm at the ROA and a bunch of people are singing in a choir and my former branch leader (not the mean one) is saying to me, "Come on over here and sing with us, we really want you to join us." And I'm standing there thinking, "Uh, no I don't think so."
-
Another time, after I'd been in two hellish years in Mississippi, I was on the front patio reading the Bible but all I could think about was how mean my branch leader was.

I had a dream once where I was standing around with a bunch of Way people and Art Garfunkel walked by and asked me if I wanted to hang around with him. I told him no, I couldn't, I had to stay there with these people. But inside I REALLY wished I could go hang out with Art Garfunkel.

Yeah, I know how that is.

I do that all the time, especially now that we're in a two story house - go upstairs to do something, see something else, do that, forget why I came up, go back down, remember, go back up...... As for speaker phones at work, I don't mind people using them because I'm nosey.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that...we were told by Vee Pee that Corps Week and ROA were a "spiritual priority," thus making it necessary for all vacation time be used to go there every August. Sometimes a job had to be sacrificed for those ALL IMPORTANT two weeks in August. It also meant no "normal" vacations. I liked the Rock in the early days but it turned into another requirement.

I remember when I was a Emporia and every time Wierwille was going to arrive, we had to do some big deal thing to welcome him. One time we all put on red clothes and stood in a heart shape so he could see it when he flew over. Another time we had to make Christmas cards for him. I stayed up all night to finish one from our branch (since the only "free" time was sleep time) and I got chewed out for borrowing Divine Design supplies to make it.

I see more love and concern EVERYWHERE compared to what I saw in TWI.

LOL man, those are FUNNY!

They have to do that??!!? All those things described above sound like a living hell. No kidding. I've almost forgotten what it was like unless I think about it. Man oh man how can they go on??? You'd think sheer misery would drive people out of there. (which it does I think)

There was a LEAD shirt?

Gee, ex I didn't know your dad died and I didn't know you got moderated. Sorry about both. I've always enjoyed your presence here at grease spot.

I've read a couple of her books. I didn't know "Postmortem" the first Kay Scarpetta book.

Another "grease spot" makes it through their first year of freedom!

Class Syllabuses, WOW Pin, and By The Way articles on eBay

I've always wanted to make my two WOW pins into earrings. -
I got these in my e-mail. I thought they were hilarious: You have two choices in life: you can stay single and be miserable, or get married and wish you were dead. At a cocktail party, one woman said to another, "Aren't you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?" "Yes, I am. I married the wrong man." A lady inserted an ad in the classifieds: "Husband Wanted" Next day she received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: "You can have mine." When a woman steals your husband, there is no better revenge than to let her keep him. A woman is incomplete until she is married. Then she is finished. little boy asked his father, "Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?" Father replied, "I don't know, son, I'm still paying." A young son asked, Is it true, Dad, that in some parts of Africa a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her?" Dad replied, "That happens in every country, son." Then there was a woman who said, "I never knew what real happiness was until I got married, and by then, it was too late." Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. If you want your spouse to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say -- talk in your sleep. Just think, if it wasn't for marriage, men would go through life thinking they had no faults at all. First woman says, "My husband's an angel!" Second woman remarks, "You're lucky. Mine's still alive." A Woman's Prayer Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom, to understand a man , to love and to forgive him, and for Patience, for his moods. Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll just beat him to death.

Another thing Vee Pee said was, "If you leave the Way the devil will use you to tear down the very ministry that gave you life." That really put the lid on me considering getting out and speaking out even after my life in TWI became total misery.

Pressed Down, Shaken Together, and Running Over
outandabout replied to Biblefan Dave's topic in Friend Tracker
I sure would like to get a copy of their original album they did in the early 70's. -
Wow, how'd you do that without the law of believing?
-
Yeah, that "Christians Should be Prosperous" thing really got to me just when I was preparing my exit. There's this BIG JUMP in logic there. "Oh, we know the NT doesn't say to tithe, BUT in the OT they did, SO now that we're in the Grace Period, we should do MORE than in the OT." -->HUH??!!??!?!!? -->

Pirate, you beat me to it. Grease 2 was the first one that came to my mind. Just awful. Not even the same actors!

Well, it may not in so many words call on a spirit but it did something to me. Those words are chilling. and I do think that was the part. It sure looks to me like words that could open a person up, if the person is in an "open" state of mind, like I was. I don't think most people consciously ask to be possessed, not with full knowledge.
