  1. I don't think TWI appreciated a lot of people's talents and abilities. Only the favorite few were recognized in art and music, although even they were eventually stifled.

  4. My hubby & I just bought two wing back chairs for the living room. And I have several ficus trees, one inside in the living room. I had no idea they were a TWI staple. hmmmmmm
  5. They want a prophet? If a true one showed up, they'd kick him/her out.
  6. My WOW sister gave me a dress she didn't want, but kept the buttons.
  7. After CG read POP at Corps Week 86, once we were all home he sent the USA Corps a scathing tape warning us all that we needed spiritual boot camp because we were all so totally screwed up. I have that tape somewhere.
  8. I too was mystified by the vague generalities. One day, the BOT are these great spiritual guys we were supposed to esteem highly and then they suddenly became people that had to "get back in fellowship" and "repent." "The BOT haven't fully repented." Of what? Why couldn't they ever say what?
  9. Yeah, I remember that African American group - New Horizons? They came to Jackson, MS and sang on the limb leaders' roof top. What I remember is feeling so numb and blah when I was supposed to be so blessed. They pretty much took other people's music and changed the lyrics. That same day, we had to go all over the city with flyers inviting people to the music fest with New Horizons. To this day, when I hear a certain song, it reminds me of them and what they changed it to. I still have their tape but I never wanted to listen to it because it reminded me of being in Mississippi with the L#llys - the two worst years of my entire life. Oh yeah, and "Mo Tech." What a scam, having to sell PFAL like encyclopedias and vacuum cleaners. How to lead a person step by step into signing up. So blantantly manipulative. I never was comfortable with it. One time I while on Light Bearers I led somebody all the way through to sign up but couldn't bring myself to close the deal because I felt so phoney about it.
  10. I'd love to see them get their pants sued off. They deserve it, depriving people of their HOMES. I'd love to see it. Give me popcorn and a front row.
  11. I remember the albun, "American Awakes" came out by Joyful Noise and we listened to it a lot when I was on the field as a Fellow Laborerer. We were told to witness because our move of the Word would save the country, if I recall correctly.
  12. I agree with Rejoice and Excie. What are they there for? What do they do anyway? They need more people to oversee less people?
  13. If they're actually trying to change, well, good for them. But I think they're too far gone at this point, too much damage done. It's too late. All the changing will never get me back there. Once you leave, and find out that life is better without TWI, why ever go back? I don't care how much they change.
  14. :D hah that seems so funny now.
  15. Funny how that was, wasn't it? <_< I recall two different times BLs moved. Seemed like they weren't happy enough where they were, had to have something better. One time the BLs moved, and I always liked their first house better. It was a big house at the end of a long driveway, with lots of pine trees all around. It was "too dark" so they had to move. Second house was boring, had no character. I had the privilege of sweeping the roof of first house and got stung by wasps. Bunch of spoiled elitists, now that I look back on it. Good luck to them that now have to actually pay their own rent/mortgage. (like the rest of us).
  16. Why is there going to be an exodus in the spring? Just wondering.
  17. Speaking of love, remember that guy in the 10th corps who used to walk around saying, "Where is the Love?" It was a joke, but there really was a lot of truth to it!
  18. I remember our area leader telling us, during a meeting, to write down one person we thought should go into the Corps and commit ourselves to making it happen. I didn't get it, because natural leadership ability was the primary characteristic needed. People with natural leadership ability don't need to be pushed into things, i.e. the Corps. They would take it upon themselves to apply to the Corps. If a person had to be pushed into it, they shouldn't be Corps. They were defeating their own purpose by recruiting. There were enough chiefs for the Indians already. Didn't get that approach. Still don't.
  19. So do they have revelation that this schedule is going to meet the needs of each fellowship every week? They know ahead of time that this will be the best topic? I remember when the twig leader was allowed to teach of what was relevant at the time depending on what was going on spiritually. It was part of what being a coordinator was all about. HO HUM another YAWN from this corner. ZZZZZZZZZ I feel sleeeeeeepy...... -_-
  20. I left because I had been miserable being in TWI for a long long time but couldn't pinpoint why, since I didn't know my own thoughts. I left a year after POP, after our branch leaders left. My true feelings were that I wanted to leave, but I kept "renewing my mind" against it. Now I see that my inner thoughts and feelings were valid and I only needed a little push to finally make the break. I have never missed TWI since. And I've never regretted leaving for a second. All I felt was incredible relief, like a huge weight was lifted from me.
  21. That's funny. Thanks for the chuckle.

  24. Love the theme. Sounds like one we would make up here just to make fun of it. But it's really the theme? It's like they've become a parody of themselves. Hey, TWI, you need a Thesaurus to find some other words besides "prevail." Here ya go!!! Synonyms: abound, be common, be current, be prevalent, be usual, be victorious, be widespread, beat, best, carry, command, conquer, dominate, domineer, exist generally, gain, get fat, get there, go places, luck in, luck out, make it, make out, master, move out, obtain, overcome, overrule, predominate, preponderate, prove, reign, sail through, strike oil, succeed, take off, triumph, win (source: Thesaurus.com)
