  1. We laughed at the stupid jokes in PFAL because we were told to.
  2. I have the letter from Craig Martindale kicking me out of the Corps. (after I'd already left)
  3. About a year or so after graduation when I tired of the idea of moving every three years for the REST OF MY LIfE and also having to be responsible for everything that happened around me and everything other people did because "YOU'RE CORPS!" That sowed the seeds for me to leave seven years later, with much relief.
  4. I don't think of TWI very much anymore. When I do, I'm usually dumbfounded to think that I allowed every aspect of my life to be controlled by TWI.
  5. When I said George Jess's wine was good, I was thinking of the nice buzz.
  6. Good point. If giving = receiving, why didn't HQ ever help anybody??? All they did was take, take, take.
  7. He did not "put the whole Word together from Genesis to Revelation" ane he did not attend the finest schools. I'm so glad I'm out of there.
  8. I didn't know they were still kicking people out. I thought they were "nicer" now.
  9. I remember making cayenne "bombs." You take a piece of paper napkin, dump a bunch of cayenne into it, fold it around the pile and swallow. And of course there were the raw potatoes that cured everything.
  10. You have a great memory. I can't remember one ROA from the next.
  11. Evil: wanting to marry the father of your unborn child Good: having an abortion and going single into the corps. (I saw this happen)
  12. Bait: Being told that TWI corps assignments are assigned for the benefit of the person first. Switch: Believing that and ending up in a trailor in Mississippi.
  13. No Christmas Tree???? I didn't know about that one. I remember when I was in Emporia, they had Christmas trees. This was around 1978.
  14. I got that letter from Craig telling me I was dropped from the Corps two years after I left.
  15. Yeah, I remember that tape from C Geer. Nothing but condemnation and blame.
  16. I guess a major turning point came when our twig leader and his wife left(who had both been in our wedding and the wife was at the birth of our child). The branch leader called us up to inform us that they were gone and he would now be our fellowship coordinator. Soon after, I heard that our former twig leader was running a non-Way fellowship and I decided to go see. (depite being afraid that the Devil would cause me to be in a car wreck on the way there) Everyone there seemed happy, not guilt-ridden about being "cop-outs." Then I asked for copies of the 30-page letter, John Lynn's 3-hour Overview tape, a tape of R.Dubofsky's critique of Athletes of the Spirit, and the infamous Adultery Paper. Well, after reading and listening to all of that, I was GONE and gone for good.
  17. "If it's to be it's up to me." Thanks for the pressure.
  18. "This God is a God in three distinct persons, all a part of the same ONE God". 1+1+1 = 1 They lost me there. Not that TWI wasn't a cult.....
  19. I remember once at Emporia we were singing Roll Away and a couple of Sixth Corps guys threw themselves on the floor and started to roll away.
  20. Did you hear about the dyslexic who sold his soul to Satan?
  21. Blows my mind to think of how much property TWI owned at one time.......how the mighty have fallen.
