I also ready "Losing the Way." -read it on one sitting.
-
I agree! I read it in the 90s when it first came out. My brother borrowed it & did not return it. I contacted Karl Kahler about obtaining the book and he said he didn't have any more but I was able to get it via email to download in PDF format. It is such a great book. When I re-read it, I had forgotten a lot of it and it was like reading it for the first time.

Let's give him a motorcycle.

On one hand, if you left you were a "cop out." But I also heard the saying that the "door swings both ways." So I guess you were totally free to leave if you wanted but if you did you were a cop-out.

Hang in there, Excie. Love you.

I was wondering the same thing. Rosalie's not exactly a spring chicken. -

I take out a box of various manger scenes and arrange them on the fireplace mantel on Sept. 11. I just did that a couple of hours ago. They stay there until New Year's. Don't know for sure if that's the exact date but I like to acknowledge His birthday.

It's kind of like watching a car wreck. Just gotta look sometimes.

On nooooooo, it's bringing back memories! Gotta go home and make some coffee with the old grounds and then chew on a styrophome cup.

I remember when VP went on the country music kick. He said that Country was great because it showed the honest, wide range of human emotion. But if a TWI memeber wrote an emotional song it was deemed "worldly", "secular", "Off the Word" because "emotions come and go but the word of God....blah blah blah." Why did God create us as emotional beings if we can't feel them or express them? The most moving music touches our emotions - happy, said, in love, the pain of lost love..... No wonder the current music in TWI is so dull. When I've gone to the TWI website and watched/listened to their music it just seems to lifeless. No inspired music. It just seems churned out. It seems preachy. No life. Doesn't do a thing for me. Can hardly stand to watch/listen. I feel sorry for TWI innies. If that's all the music they ever hear, it's really sad. Hello, it's meeeeee

We were taught that music in a minor key was off the Word. A classic pianist I know was really annoyed by that. Her opinion is that it's full of bunk.

I'm not so sure about the humor part. I thought his jokes were pretty lame. And then if were we in the class as crew or repeat student, we had to laugh at them.

After I left TWI, I started reading works by other biblical scholars (especially in the area of Eschatology, the study of End Times) and I was amazed at how much they knew, and how much more I could still learn about the bible. TWI just regurgitates the same stuff over and over and over again. I was also amazed that scholars have written stuff that we learned in TWI and were told we were the only ones who knew it. I ran across a study of the true day JC was born (per this study it is Sept. 11) in a book totally not of TWI, and it was the SAME teaching detail by detail, that we were taught in The Corps by a fellow Corps member. At that time, we were lead to believe that it was research done by said Corps member. Makes me wonder. Did two different studies come up with the same conclusions or was it stolen and presented as TWI research? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

When I've looked at some of the music on TWI's website, I can hardly stand it for more than 30 seconds.

Thanks for keeping Greasespot open. That series about cults sounds really interesting.

"Abundant Life" is wayspeak for twi exploitation

Steve's post above got me thinking - it seems as though the signs & miracles & answered prayers were more in spite of TWI rather than because of it. It was believers' purity of heart and their genuine love of God's Word that brought about those things. Then it all got shot to sh1t. -
Love you too, excie

And then there's "Little Bunny Foo Foo."

One time in the Corps, we were singing "Roll Away" and a couple of 6th Corps guys actually got on the floor and rolled away.

Was there a video about PFAL '77 called "Changed"?

I was there too but I don't remember much. I do recall a lot of us in the audience were coughing and VP told us to "stop coughing." I tried to hold it in until my eyes watered. I also remember we all were given a jade plant. And there was a dance one night..... Funny what we recall & what we don't.

And the longer you've been in, the harder it is to admit you've been duped because that's more of your life that's been wasted.

I fell asleep when we watched Patton.
