I'm thankful that August is just another month and I don't have to cross the country to stay in a tent. I'm thankful that March is just another month and I don't have to get evaluated and judged in my Corps Review or whatever we used to call it.

I should have bolted when - I was in Mississippi and the branch leader told me I was poison to the branch. Should have said, OK then, I'm doing you a favor and I'm out of here.

I was in MS as a Corps Grad, and was in a meeting where the Branch Leader's wife was ranting about two WOWs who got into a relationship and female WOW got pregnant. The two wanted to get married and keep the baby. BL wife was ranting how that was unacceptable because female WOW was apprentice Corps and she should get an abortion, dump her lover and still go into the Corps. Even though I was Way-brained, I was wondering about what was so terrible about two people in love who wanted to keep their baby. Just shows how perverse the standards of TWI were. No common decency or respect for life or of people's own free will.

Damn that global warming.

ex, I don't remember the details of how we were related. I just remember that one time we were talking about our family backgrounds and we figured that out. It all went back to the Boston area where my mother's side of the family and her family were from.

Maybe it was all screwed up how they picked the WOW families, but I do have to say that on my interim year as a WOW, it turned out that one of my WOW sisters and I were distantly related.

That would be a good thread all in itself. Did they put that on their 15 minute schedule report? WOW that's incredible that you saw that. You'd think they'd be a little more discreet. Blows my mind.

When I was a Corps Grad in Mississippi, I had to write a monthly letter to the limb leader. I hated it. I can't imagine having to turn in weekly reports. How did we put up with that sh1t? I also had to do some stupid diagram that projected what I planned to accomplish on the field, i.e. projected ABS, sign-ups for future classes, additions of twig members etc. I hated it. How was I supposed to predict/control all that stuff? Worst time of my life. And they claimed they weren't into "numbers".

I remember how people said that the BOD hadn't "repented" or "gone back to the Word" or some such. I didn't know what they were talking about because no one would be specific.

Maybe they thought that was real spiritual - like God was guiding the darts.

I tried to read that letter - just couldn't. Don't need the condemnation. I had enough of that for 15 years.
