  1. I didn't even think about it, just like I forget when it's my "anniversary" of when I left TWI. I never was that enamored of VPW anyway while he was alive. I went along with all the adulation but inside I wasn't all that impressed. Maybe it was my real brain being drowned out by my WayBrain.
  2. -prophet "One who speaks for God." vpw expected his every utterance to be treated like it came directly from God Almighty. He certainly expected to be treated as if he spoke for God. So, he claimed ONE of those titles openly- and that as the definitive one, THE Teacher, not A Teacher. As far as everything that came out of his mouth, I thought that book "Lifelines" was rather egotistical, (even in my Way Brain) making a book about all the "great" one-liners he had said througout the years. And some of them weren't original (maybe most of them, I don't know) Example - "life in the fast lane" - from the Eagles song. (like we wouldn't know that).
  3. Regarding rain - August is the rainiest month of the year in Ohio. So that's a great time for us all to be living in tents. It wasn't our negative believing - it was the weather.
  4. I remember "Dr" W saying we would all be very fortunate if we made it to 50. What the?????
  5. I went with the John Scheinheit group in 1998. It was summer, so it was hot. We had to carry a water bottle with us. I wore shorts outfits a lot. Some places you need something longer. At the time, American money was accepted almost everywhere. People are trying to sell you stuff everywhere you go. It's nice to buy some stuff but I bought too much. Don't forget your camera of course.
  6. Yeah, I used to think ABS was to "move God's Word" when all it did was support their communal lifestyle at HQ. WE on the "field" were "moving the Word" but with no financial support. God forbid anyone ever expect HQ to help US.
  7. to research the accuract of God's Word? That's weird because so far they haven't come up with anything new.
  8. Reminds me of sitting in Wierwille Library on the Emporia Campus in an afternoon class, looking out the window at the trees and thinking, "Who am I and what am I doing here?"
  9. Yeah and the so-called leaders didn't even have to clean their own houses.
  10. So sorry you had to go through all that, excie. I was clueless about all that evil. It wasn't until I was out and hearing it from ExWayfers and reading about that stuff on Waydale and here that I became aware. Blows my mind.
  11. I remember some 6th Corps guys got off their chairs and on the floor and literally "rolled away" during that song. I don't know how they got away with it.
  12. Yeah, and if you then had to find a new job, you had to make sure they would let you off for those 3 weeks in August, which was always a good thing to bring up in a job interview.
  13. No, you don't want your Way books around. After all, everything "gives off something." ha ha I'd rather have Stephen King novels in my house. And as for Corps Week & ROA, we were expecting to actually quit a job if we had to because Corps Week and the ROA were "spiritual priority." You were expected to use all your vacation leave if you had to, and quit if you coudn't.
  14. Yeah, yell and scream at people, that sure is doing I Cor. 13. "Love is patient, love is kind" etc. Maybe the screamers should have read some of that.
  15. Actually, MS isn't all that bad but it was the a-holes I had to be with.
  16. Speaking of spies.....I was in Jackson MS having the time of my life (sarc) and I went to the movies with a fellow believer. We were standing around my apartment and he asked me if I ever felt like leaving The Way. I answered honestly that sometimes I did. (who didn't) Lo and behold the next day the Branch Leader dropped by and said he wanted to see me the next day. After a sleepless night, I went to his house and in his office he proceeded to verbally tear me limb from limb, accusing me of all kinds of things.....eventually I broke down in tears and then he told me how great I was. Never forgot it.
  17. Very interesting. Funny how these groups have such similarities. We were not alone. I read on a link that the leader took advantage of women sexually. Hmmmmmm where have we seen THAT before? It seems that the ultimate demise of church leadership is so often inappropriate sex.
  18. What? You had to pay the doorman?
  19. He said members of the Way Corps should retain their individuality. But the Corps program endeavored to churn out obediant Weirwille/Martindale robots. (Which reminds me - some of the 6th Corps were rounding off the corners of their nametags and were reproved for it).
  20. For some reason, on threads that have a survey, I can't get to the last page.
  21. I guess it's not The Word, The Word, The Word, it's about the Wierwille's. I still remember those white ropes at the front of the big tent blocking off the family from the rest of us.
  22. I amazes me that Rosalie was chosen to lead TWI. I can't think of anything more oppressive or BORING. Who in their right mind would want anything to do with that place? Are they deliberately bringing about their own demise?
  23. I remember one time we all had to wear red shirts and stand as a group in the shape of a heart so he could see us when Ambassador One flew over. Wonder if he even looked. I remember when each twig had to make him a Christmas card and I stayed up until the wee mornings to make our twig's card. I wonder if he even looked at it. (oh, and by the way, I was reproved by Divine Design for using their markers).
  24. If you were found out you probably would have been yelled at.
