  1. "forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead", from Phil 3:13 was used to keep us from thinking about the past in any way shape or form. Awhile after I left TWI I started to have lots of memories coming back to me from my pre-TWI life. I realized it was a continuum - my whole life, before, during and after TWI. While we were in TWI we were told our previous non-TWI life was nothing and all that counted was our TWI life. I think all these memories came back to me because I had suppressed memories of my "former life" while in TWI and now I was free to remember them. I don't think we're meant to suppress the past.
  2. I thought it was good but the traffic in the background was distracting.
  3. Please ignore the above, it's a repeat of the first one. I was trying to edit and I can't.
  4. WOW that list really does nail it. Even years and years later, there's a part of my brain that still resists the concept that TWI is a cult. A part of my brain.
  5. What about - Charity covers a multitude of sins. Where was that? Sometimes you just gotta let things go.
  6. And we were bullied into recruiting other people so they could too could get bullied. I was miserable so it was hard for me to be motivated to recruit others to join me in my misery.
  7. I didn't like taking the place of the absent Christ. Too much of a burden.
  8. Or "Don't worry about it." That one really got people going. Or "I hope so." So nice to just be able to speak English now. I just read Leah Remini's book about her time in Scientology and how she left. I kept getting this nagging feeling that it all seemed so familiar. It was so much like TWI: the jargon, the threats of bad things happening if you leave, the constant demands to measure up, the different levels of spirituality. She said that she reached this really high level and realized she was still the same. Kind of like going through the Corps. They had all these classes to take, like us, that would advance you to some other level.
  9. WOW Wordwolf that was a great summary. I don't recall reading it before. And I went to Advanced Class 79 but don't remember the doves and balloons. kevin, you have a better memory than me.
  10. And it wasn't a tree. It was more like an upside down pyramid. The roots that were supposed to nourish the treet were being fed by the leaves.
  11. I never understood what all this hoopla about anniversaries had to do with God's Word anyway.
  12. I would be curious as to who is teaching this class.
  13. Evidently the ability to edit this topic is no longer there. Is it possible to activate it? Thanks
  14. There are no edit buttons at the bottom of the posts that I made.
  15. I wrote my story in 2005 entitled There I Was. I want to edit some of it now and I can't figure out how. I also want to delete one of the posts. If I edit posts does it change the location of the post in the topic? thanks
  16. Oh yeah, the mayo. That was pretty good.
  17. And I marked all the 'seed boy' references!
  18. I remember being at work one day and thinking about how we didn't have twig that night and I felt relief! Come to think of it, when I left TWI that'a ALL I felt.
  19. When I was in MS as a Corps Grad, a WOW brother and sister on the field there got involved and she got pregnant. They wanted to get married and have the baby. In a Corps meeting, I remember the Limb Leader's wife (4th corps) sternly saying about them that it was out of the question that they should do such a thing as get married and have the baby!! NO, she was headed for the Corps! The implication must have been that she have an abortion, since that would be the only way not to have the baby. That was one of my "red light moments". (though it would be years still before I exited) Something just wasn't right if two people who loved each other enough to want to get married and have their child were considered so utterly wrong. ("Woe to those who call evil good and good evil")
  20. "There are people in the Corps who won't stay in the Corps because they haven't developed the ability to GET THINGS DONE!"
  21. Very interesting. I look forward to your book.
  22. Yes!!! The problem with the law of believing as we were taught it, is that if you can control everything by your "believing" then when bad things happen, it's your own fault because of faulty "believing." Thus all the condemnation that went around. Sick? Your fault. Financial difficulties? Your fault. Accident? Your fault. You die? Your fault!
  23. Maybe they have so much money now they don't have to ask anymore.
  24. VP sent WOWs to Iran the same year of the revolution when they outed the Shah and the WOWs had to scramble to get out of the country.
