Hope: Thank's for backing me up that this was taught. Rafael, I don't know if it's in writing that he taught it. :(--> I never read those PFAL books anyway and threw most of them out a couple years ago. ( I know JCOPS wasn't a PFAL book) But I KNOW this was taught over and over again. The offshoot I went to still taught this. They said this is why God loves to hears us sing cause angels can't etc.etc.etc. So it HAD to come down from somewhere at the top! Don't more people remember this?????? PS Hope, that was exactly MY reasoning, they could talk, I just figured..as usual.. that there was something I wasn't getting. --> ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

Angels can't sing. (I'm moving this from the other thread) The Way taught that angels can't sing. They said that song "hark the herald angels sing" was wrong cause of that. Somebody else must remember this! I heard this one throughout the years. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

Diets that work... Got any?
RottieGrrrl replied to Dot Matrix's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Dot you're funny! :)--> I hate working out too. And I hate ankle weights. The reason I liked weight machines is cause I'm lazy too when it comes to working out, and you don't have to do much to see results quickly. The machines really do a lot of the work for you. Even the old ladies do them! I'm talking like 20 minutes 3 times a week. At a family gym, not Bally's thank you. Anyway I just had to add that! LOL. Good luck whatever you decide on! PS. I like Richard Simmons also cause he has normal people on his show, not beauty queens, and he does seem sincere! -

Interesting Steve. Everything sounds good except the relish.(yick) I didn't even know what a "Chicago style" hot dog was..though I have heard some pretty heated debates over whether Chicago style pizza is actually deep dish or thin crust... ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -
Dot: those pictures are adorable. It's also a good reminder of why people need to be more responsible about breeding animals. Socket: I think that's neat that your letting your daughter pick out a name. Hope to see a picture of the kitty. PS I couldn't believe Goey's 19 year old dog either. phew! What a heartache to let go after that long! ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

dancing... the win win situation
RottieGrrrl replied to nandon's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Well I was in the era of "dancing bah mah seh elf, uh uh uh oh." Everyone at clubs danced by themselves. You didn't need a partner, you just got out and did your thing. I remember awhile back in the mid 90's I went out to some bar with some people I worked with, this song came on and everybody started to line dance. I was like....WTF? What's going on? I felt so STUPID! And then when the Macadamia nut or whatever dance came out that everyone was doing I just threw my hands up in the air and gave up. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -
Socket you should have started a new thread on this, I almost missed it. So your new dog is a cat! lol! Black with a tinge of orange sounds like a cool color. Really Halloweenie. Did you think of a name yet or did it already have one or what? BTW thanks for the compliment on my grrrl. :)--> ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

Thank's Linda I'll be on the lookout for that. Peanut butter hot dogs aye? I'm trying to imagine how that would taste. -

RottieGrrrl replied to Dot Matrix's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
oh gosh Dot: I don't mean to badger you. But I fear I'm not making meeself clear. Aerobics (i.e. richard simmons) is wonderful for your cardiovascular system and general health, and it does burn calories while you're working out. BUT Weight training,(dumbells, barbells, machines) burns calories while your working out (not as high as an aerobics workout, perhaps) but the muscle you build burns fat while you are at REST. I hate to seem like I'm pushing this, but weight training is like a miracle for many people cause you can work out 20 minutes 3 times a week and be burning your calories while sitting on your butt doing nothing but watching t.v. as your muscles are firming. Anyway, sorry if I seem pushy! I just think too many women overlook this simple..oh so simple...practicality in their dieting programs! And really miss out an a very simple way to lose those pounds and firm up! ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -
It's ok to say "I don't know"
RottieGrrrl replied to Hopefull's topic in Getting help for cult dysfunction
Okay well oldies' I've heard a lot of people say that "VPW himself said....fill in the blank." The thing is that shouldn't be your measuring stick of authority in the first place, and besides that, he taught lots of stuff that he should have heeded his own advice on. And I'm not just picking on VPW. I mean this for anyone who is out there doing the preacher rap, wether or not they are well known. Spare me the rap, show me the act. PS I will come back to edit this and say that no person should be your gospel preacher. I get just as po'd watching certain t.v preachers and such. Why Do We Get Attacked?
RottieGrrrl replied to Nottawayfer's topic in Getting help for cult dysfunction
I'm glad this thread came up. A very dear guy I know had just mentioned to me that I'm spiritually alone out here and subjectable to attacks from the adversary. (cause I don't go to church or anything) I was like...huh? To be fair he wasn't implying I needed to go to his offshoot, just that I should start looking for some church. So THIS is where this thinking comes from aye? Interesting. -
Diets that work... Got any?
RottieGrrrl replied to Dot Matrix's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Dot: I used to work in a fitness club where the yoga was very popular, especially so with the seniors. I think that's supposed to stretch your organs or something. They loved it though. Water aerobics was popular too. The main teacher there had lost something like 200 lbs doing that. I still think you should look into light weight training. Weight training not only burns calories while your working out. But even AT REST. See that? AT REST. Muscle burns something like 3 times more calories than fat does. -

Hope thank you for bringing this up. If I had a dollar for every stupid thing I pulled out of my butt just to have an answer... There is no pat answer to everything. And when people say something now that I don't agree with, I just say, "well, that's one theory, but I've heard others.." and this pertains to everybody, not just Way people. In fact, this reminds me of a super sweet guy I met several years ago, who wanted to start his own ministry with a few freinds of his to answer the tough questions people had about God. His intentions were good, but the problem was he didn't know anymore than anybody else. Yes, being the answer man can be very dangerous indeed. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -

Dot: You may want to try some light weight training. Muscle burns calories, even if your not doing anything. Now ya got me wondering about Sumo wrestlers. I had somebody tell me that they actually wake up in the middle of the night to eat. You know, this may sound silly, but I've always loved Richard Simmons. I swear I watch his infomercials and I cry. I wish he would come out for something for smoking! -
Psalm: Thanks for the update on the corgi's. I was wondering what the update on them was! What a bunch of interesting posts on this thread! BTW, I was joking on another thread about wishing they made mini rottweilers and look what I found on a page about rare dog breeds They're called Carlin Pinschers. They are about 12" tall and btwn 10 and 20 lbs. A mix between a mini pinscher and a pug. They have nothing to do with the rott family but people call them mini rotts anway. Arn't they cute? They are still a developing breed and won't be available to the public for a few years, at least. Theyre being super careful about not overbreeding this dog. So THAT's Where the Damit Janet came from LOL! Oh and Dot LOL on your comment! :)--> -
firebee! I can't wait to hear about your puppy! How cool, oh I miss those first days with mine! Everything new to her. Sigh. Dot: I heard about people doing that stuff before. (coloring in marks) I've heard people say it's not about the dogs as much as it is who you know. That dog show ring sounds WAY too political and cliquesh for me to want to get involved in.
-
Similar political views(middle of the road) and believing in God (but not a religious flake, or a stuffed shirt) would be important to me too. Well, I smoke, so I would want a guy who wouldn't maybe smoke as much, but maybe have them on him so I could bum em if I'm out. ;)--> Until I quit. :)--> Gee about your dogs, YOU probably know more than I do. But I guess if Nico did that..peed when she came in, I would go by the ole training basics (we went to puppy class at PetSmart) and either yell NO! right when she was doing it, or take a taped pop can full of pennies and shake it at her, then throw her outside to finish peeing. And praise her while she was peeing outside. And you know (i'm sure) they say to make sure and clean the odor out of the rug so the scent isn't "marked." But honestly, with her I haven't had that problem. I'M the one at fault when she tells me she wants to go out and I ignore her. That's when she has to puke or something and it's MY fault for not listening to her. So maybe someone else could help you better on that! Where's Jesse? PS. I've been thinking of a larger bed, but we usually can snuggle together pretty comfey, specially in winter. Plus if I got a larger bed my room would shrink!
-
You know, I was so worried when I got Nico as a pup, cause I had never had to housebreak a dog before. That crate training they recommended was too complicated for me. I thought it would be so hard, but all I did was take her out every couple of hours. I slept on the couch in my sweats, ( I got her in the dead of winter) set the alarm, and plopped her outside. She had her little accidents, but it wasn't bad at all. Oh yeah she hated her cage, so I set up a little barricade by the couch with her cage, the box and some pillows, and she was fine.

OMG Pirate that is so true. I remember running home from school to watch Dark Shadows when I was a kid. I was SO excited when we got the sci fi station in our area so I could watch it! Boy..was I disappointed, to say the least. Did not hold up well after time for me at all. -
Ron: LOL! Dot: If I ever found a man like your husband who would was like that I would marry him in a second. A couple of weeks ago I was at the smoke shop and the manager there said that the guy who ran the restaurant next door told him he wanted to ask me out, but I always have my Rott with me and he can't come near me. Ha! I KNEW she was worth the price when I bought her! ha ha ha! (he's a little twerp, just the kind I attract --> ) You are so lucky you have a husband who loves dogs like that! You should see me and Nico. I have a single bed and we share. Me and my 100 lbs rottweiler. And she snores and farts. Who needs a husband? :D--> ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

Dot: you've got the neatest set of links. firebee, awwww. Than I hope you find your little buddy soon!
