There was a Way house in Lombard in the late 70s. Can I mention names in this forum? I can remember some of the people but I hesitate mentioning names, I guess I shouldn't. But it was always a lot of fun and some really cool people. I'm wondering if anyone reading this was a part of that Way house so I guess I'll just leave this in here and wait and see It's hard to be humble when you're just a rottie monk.

HELP QUICK How do you make a potato on the grill?
RottieGrrrl replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Well, thanks all for chiming in. I took one potato out too soon and it was undercooked, so I left the other two on longer. My mom said hers was real good, and the third I saved for breakfast this morning and gutted it, chopped it up, added bacon grease and fried it in butter and boy was it good. Wayward thanks. I was kind of doing that at the end, but I wasn't sure of what I was doing. Squeeze..OUCH..Squeeze...OUCH. Next time I'll take it off the grill and let it cool for a couple minutes. I think ManofaThousand: I was wondering if I should do that or not! I will do that next time, thanks! Vickles, That sounds good! I will try that sometime this summer. Thanks! ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -

I'm making hamburgers hotdogs and baked potatos for lunch. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GRILL POTATOS ON THE GRILL! I prefer it like a baked potato. You know, wrap it in aluminum and stick it on the grill? The only recipe I could find said to cut it in 4 wedges and wrap it in alumnium foil. Cant I keep it intact at all? I guess I should stick the potatos on the grill first before the hamburgers and hotdogs of course cause the potatos take longer right? Anyone? Anyone? I'm going to start grilling at about 2pm Central time it's 11:30am now. Nothing like leaving things til the last minute I know!! ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler...

BARF Diet for dogs. Anyone have info on this?
RottieGrrrl replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in Pet Affection
Jesse, seems like I've heard of it before, but I've never seen it so far. But it could be in Pet specialty stores like the Canidae. and yes I hate it when I write a big post and I lose it, get booted, or the computer freezes. I swear I want to take a hammer to the computer. Great sites Wayward, thanks. I will check them out more when I have time, this weekend. Dot: replied via PT. (I don't know if you get email notificaton for new posts) and good for you for calling the 800 number for petsmart! I almost never do stuff like that, partly I think because it's been my experience the operators almost never know what there talking about. I think they get there info off a screen, which is okay, but some of them are so bad at even acting like they know what their doing, lol. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -

I'm glad you guys liked the puke guy, LOL. Oh Psalm I hope your feeling better about the kitty. I know what you mean though, but I won't go into any of my own personal examples cause then it does gets sad. Gee I wish Nico would like raw veggies. I try to give her some and she won't hardly even sniff it. Weird since she'll eat paper, mud, leaves and once dug into some horse manure like it was filet mignon before I could stop her. Yick. Jesse how awful about the chicken broth! I guess it shows you really have to be careful good Lord. And yes, our families 3 dogs I had growing up ate real cheap crap and they lived pretty long lives. It;s good to know plate scraps are healthy, but you still have to watch the weight thing. Once a dog gets fat it seems so hard to take it off. And I don't want a fat rottie. They don't look intimidating then they just just look like a tub of butter. Dot thanks a million for the addresses for the stores. Naperville and Wheaton are the closest (Wheaton, Billy Graham town, is just 5 miles west) and I'll be damned if you didn't find that store "The Dog Patch" in Naperville, Whos name I have been trying to think of for the past few years! I bought the coolest leather studed collar for my last dog from there about 12 years ago. I haven't seen anything like it since then.(quality wise) And I couldn't think of the darn stores name I bought it from. Thats it! Ha ha! Thanks all for your input. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... [This message was edited by RottieGrrrl on March 11, 2003 at 15:05.] -

Just checked out that link Wayward. That's a BARF group for french bulldogs and other flat faced breeds. i didn't know there was a special name for them! Yeah, I use the Eukanuba too, But I'm checking out the Canidae as well. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -

RottieGrrrl replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in Pet Affection
Psalm lol. You sound like me when I first heard of BARF. I'm like..That doesn't sound too good! Dot could tell you more I'm sure but from what I've read it stands for Bones and Raw Food, or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. The idea is to mimic the dogs evolutionary diet. I checked at PetSmart too to see if they had the Canadie and they didn't. According to The Canadie website they carry it at a couple stores in the area, but your saying the shops said the dogs didn't like it? That's weird! The ingredients look excellent! I wonder why? I'm going to try it with Nico when I'm done with the Eukanuba though, Which I still have a several week supply of (I bought a couple of huge bags last trip) ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -
BARF Diet for dogs. Anyone have info on this?
RottieGrrrl replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in Pet Affection
I just read an article on BARF and some vets are skepticle of it, others say that to go on a pure BARF diet you really need to educate yourself about the diet to do it right and it is very time consuming. So I think starting off small and mixing it in with the dry food is probably how I will start out and go from there. I'll suscribe to a couple mailing lists. I actually just tried to sneak in on one thats for vets only so I can see what theyre saying but I haven't been approved yet, and they may ask for some credentials. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -

hiya firebee! :)--> ohbehave that's a great idea. A bonesicle, LOL. I know what you mean, these big dogs can really go to town on these bones. Phew! I like the idea of dry dog food with the homemade stuff too. That way I can make sure she's getting her proper vitamins and dry kibble for her teeth, but mixing it with fresh nutricious natural foods that was intended for her natural diet. Plus making sure her little (little? lol) tummy is full. ...It's hard to be humble when you own a Rottweiler... -
