  1. Oh God Dots, that's heartbreaking. Dogs are periodically dumped at the dog park I go to too. Thank God there are good hearted people like you out there who have so far been able to find homes for them. If I could, I would take more animals in. But I just afford another pet. There are times I have to scrape just to get Nico the things she needs. When I decided to buy a pedigreed dog, it was because I decided that for once I wanted to get a dog that I wanted, instead of always taking in someone elses mistake. That's a slam against us people, btw, NOT the dogs. I was brought up with my dads honorable mentality, that there were too many dogs in the world that needed a home to justify going out and buying one. That's true, but the reason for that is us people. I was totally clueless in what to look for in a breeder. There is no shortage of substandard rottweiler breeders available either. Believe me. I was actually checking out the ads in the Suntimes, you know, "Rottweiler puppies!: 200$!" (if people are selling "purebreds" for that cheap there is no way they are putting much money into the dogs) I was fortunate to find an excellent breeder thorugh the interent, who educated me a bit on what to look for in a responsible breeder. I really think that it was divine guidence cause I had no clue as to what to look for. Anyway, this is from a website I was checking out long ago when I was learning about what to look for in a good breeder..... Responsible Breeder: A person who breeds for the betterment of the breed, who tests for genetic disorder and disease and strives to reduce it's occurence through careful selective breeding producing puppies of a higher quality than the breeding pair for the purpose of improving the breed. Back Yard Breeder: Any person(s) perpetuating the poor quality pure bred "pet" producing puppies for the purpose of fun or profit, that are not of a higher quality than the breeding pair, that does not test for genetic disease or disorder or pursue a general improvement of the breed Many people go into breeding for reasons that are not well-educated or realistic. With the alarming number of both pure bred and mixed breed dogs being euthanized every year because they had no homes it is absolutely crucial that a person go into breeding for serious, rational reasons and for none of the following: 1. My dog is so cute and wonderful, my neighbors love him and alot of people have said they would like to have a dogs just like him(her) 2. A dog makes a better pet after it has had a litter (False. Dogs actually become more territorial, and their chances of cancer and other deadly diseases increase by over 90% when they are bred) 3. I want my children to see the miracle of birth (A better plan would be to take your children to the animal shelter and let them see the consequences of irresponsible breeding) 4. My dog is purebred and has papers 5. I want another dog just like mine 6. I can make a little extra money (Good breeders rarely make anything. A responsible breeder breeds only with the good of the breed in mind!) 7. I want to create a new breed (animals are not meant to be lab experiments for human curiousity) 8. My neighbor really wants my dog to breed with theirs 9. It would be fun 10. I like puppies and want alot of them If you really aren't sure, and think you really want to breed your dog, do as a very wise breeder once told a group of young would-be breeders. "Walk through an animal shelter, if you can look into the eyes of every dog that is cowering alone and afraid in those cages and be absolutely certain so help you God that no dog you ever bring into this world, or any of it's potential offspring, will ever be among them for any reason, EVER, for as long as you live, then you can be a dog breeder" Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God! 2. Well lets see, It just aint Christmas unless I hear Burl Ives sing "Holly Jolly Christmas" I just melt when I hear Andy Williams (The Emporer of easy listening sing "Happy Holidays" I love his Christmas specials too, especially with the Osmonds. They always show the reruns around Christmas. I also had Christmas Carols with that "Tales of the Crypt" guy. That was hysterical. Someone stole it from me or borrowed it without returning it I think . Oh well. OH! Nico just loves the "Barking Dogs" version of Jingle bells. She tilts her head back a and forth and listens to it! She really does! Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  3. Oh today's your birthday! Happy Birthday to a GSr who has the class and sophistication of Princess Grace! Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  4. Valerie I LOVE your post, except about the swollen boobs part. That's the only time of the month I can even tell that I'm supposed to have boobs. Ha ha! But I agree with you 100 percent, I can't WAIT to go through my menopause, I really can't!!! Zixar: I've always said I don't know why they don't take bad movies and make them better instead of screwing up great movies that have already been done. And now I hear they're going to remake Willie Wonka? Oh the sacrilege! Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  5. Well, I don't mean to sound callous about menopause, but I personally can't WAIT for me to go through it. I've always had such a problem with that time of the month. I have never wanted any children and it's just a big bloody mess. Not to mention the pain and irritability. I've always wanted to throw a party when it happened. You know, serve bloody Mary's (or virgin Mary's for the non-drinkers) and play CDs by "The Cramps" etc. For me it will be my day of FREEDOM. I'm going to celebrate my new life. 6. How about a canary, don't they sing? Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  7. Oh this is such a neat thread. It makes me almost (underline almost) want a bird! I vote for the Baretta bird! Or a dove! Yeah how cool. Or a chicken! Fresh eggs yum. But then I guess you'd need a rooster. I bet you can't wait to go bird shopping exie. How you gonna hide it from your son? Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  8. Oh how cute. I think it's great knowing already your the one who is going to end up cleaning the cage too! I wonder how much one of those Baretta birds cost? Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God!
  9. I vote for medical. Nothing wrong with modern science. I say this cause I had a very bad experience with a woman who was an absolute fanatic with herbal stuff. It was good stuff but geeze, it got to the point where I was afraid to tell her I had an itch cause she would want to sell something to me. The thing was she wasn't trying to make money, she would sell it at cost. It still was expensive and I just didn't trust it the way I do perscription drugs. She told me not to take an anti-biotic for a sinus infection I had, do her stuff instead, she told some lady not to have a liver transplant do her stuff instead. She insisted she had a healing minsitry and God was directing her to do this stuff. She really believed it too. She really worked hard too, visiting people who were like in their last stages of cancer, telling them to believe they would get healed and so forth. I started to think she was really going off the deep end when she started telling me that she was praying to God to transport her from one place to another. Beam me up Scotty. Anyway, she was so difficult to deal with, as good as her heart was, I had to cut her out of my life. She got that bad. Honestly, she really did. I'm not being mean. She was so aggressive and so convinced she had this special ministry. She really should just have let people alone and make their own decisions. Anyway, the thing is, this guy she orders from really has excellent stuff. Dr. Shulz. Although he's kind of a fanatic too. My mom has a a catalog from this guy she still orders stuff from, and she could go to this woman directly and get it at cost, but I told her not to do that. She would end up buying 10 times more stuff than she wants or needs. OH yeah plus the stuff she wanted me to do for a sinus infection was like 10 times more work than just taking an antibiotic. When you are sick you just don't feel like mixing this, inhaling this, brewing this, etc. etc. ect. You just want to take a pill and lie down. I sure don't mean to offend our herbalists here but that's my opinion, based on my expericence. I'm a big girl and can decide what to take for myself. Cat spelled backwards does NOT spell God! 12. What a coward. Cat spelled backwards DOES NOT spell God!
  13. One thing I want to point out is that this is always referred to as a mass suicide. It really was a mass MURDER. Many of those people did not want to die. There were fanatical armed guards forcing them to drink the cyanide. Injecting people forcibly or forcing it down their throats. The children certainly had no choice. Jones told the parents to tell the children it wouldn't hurt. He lied, cyanide is a horrible way to die. The kids were screaming for their lives. Nobody knows who killed Jones. Even if he went willingly though, it's ironic to note he chose not to die like a poisened rat himself, he was shot in the head with a bullet. Cat spelled backwards DOES NOT spell God!

  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHINNIE!!! On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  16. Wrestle: Thanks for the info on the books and stuff. Sounds really interesting.Looks like a cool website. I hearted it and will look at it more later. Zix, well, I'm afraid I'm not much of a Monty Python fan. I kind of don't get English humor. The only scene I remember seeing from a Monty Python movie is this scene where this fat man blows up from eating too much or something. I thought that scene was rather humorous but I don't think I cared for the rest of the movie! Wordwolf :you really sound like you know your stuff! Like I said I just like a good story, but nothing to far over my head. I remember my dad used to read that Issac Asimov (I know I'm slaughtering his name but screw it) stuff and WHOA. That's WAY to far. So it can't be too out there or I just won't get it. I will rent that movie soon though, I've heard about it for ages. Okay okay ALL these suggestions are GREAT. I didn't know there were such fantasy experts aficionados here! And Raf yeah thats why I stressed NO SEX please. Although I'm curious if anyone has read any of Ann Rices sleeping beauty series. I only ask cause I know she's a respected educated author and was wondering how that was. Anyway thanks a bunch! I'm going to have to save this thread and keep it on my harddrive. On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  17. this should be in the Open foum. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  18. Okay Zixie, I'll rent it real soon. This weekend perhaps. I guess I thought it sounded like a Chick movie. On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  19. PS, yeah I heard the Hobbit is a good one to start off with. Then the rest of the series makes sense. I will have to read that. I've NEVER read it! On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  20. All your suggestions are great. Looking for some new lit to read for the cold months coming up ahead. I just like a good story. I'm not to particular, as long as it's a Good story. Escapism. The Princess Bride, never thought of that! Was the movie good? Never saw it! Thanks for ALL the suggestions. Going to start compiling my reading list. Word and Zixie thanks. On a quest, to destroy...the Nothing...
  21. I got into a discussion with my group at the dog park on adult fantasy literature. Some of this stuff is way over my head. Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit etc. But I absolutely loved "The Neverending Story." The book I mean. The movie was good too, the first one, was a childrens movie. Very well done. But did you know the book isn't a childrens book? Great book. So anyone out there know anything about adult fantasy books? (non-sexual please) I'm curious. ...Ain't no grave, gonna hold this body down..when I hear that trumpet sound...
  22. PS Vicks. I 've also heard spin stories from a couple of newbies that would make you SICK. They were telling me how The Way fell apart. I didn't know whether to laugh or puke. The Way fell apart cause after Weirwille died (of a broken heart) People wanted to follow God, not a Man. So they formed their own group (insert what camp you are in now) The Way used to be all peaches and cream before evil Martindale you know. uh huh. okay. Wasn't that when Pfa-Hell was 200 bucks?????? ...Ain't no grave, gonna hold this body down..when I hear that trumpet sound...
  23. hiya It's. I only have experience with my offshoot here in Stepfordvile Il, Which I think I covered with ya via PT. I guess I'm a bit prejudiced. BUT... I earned the right to be. ;)--> ...Ain't no grave, gonna hold this body down..when I hear that trumpet sound...
  24. vickles, They SAY they want to attract newbies, to shake things up. That's a big fat LIE. They want to keep things safe and comfortable. To THEM. Okay? Everything revolves around protecting their special brand of doctrine. THAT is truly all they care about. I'm serious. That's it. ...Ain't no grave, gonna hold this body down..when I hear that trumpet sound...
  25. In the Way officially about 2 years or so. left around 81 or so. Offshoot, around um, 7 or 8 years. through the 90s ...Ain't no grave, gonna hold this body down..when I hear that trumpet sound...
