Is there a forum about EX - WAY offshoots / groups?
RottieGrrrl replied to mdvaden's topic in About The Way
Actually most of my experiences are with an offshoot group. Offshoots are amazingly similar to the Way in many respects. I've gotten much of my healing and learning through this forum from other ex-wayfers who have been through the similar doctrine and "group think" and stuff. -
Hey I got it playing! It doesn't sound like the "Irish Rovers" though. But this is fine. I love this song. I'm listening to it now. I always start to cry at the end of the song when the unicorns don't make it on the ark!!!! :(--> Whaaaa!!!!!! Omg they added a new verse............. omg THEY grew wings from the rain and now thier okay!!! Oh this song is precious.
-
Oldies! You found the Irish Rovers! And wouldn't you know right now I"m having some computer problems (A required dLL file not found? whatever that means) and I can't seem to get to those sites! But as soon as I fix whatever is wrong here I WILL. Thanks! Love the little unicorn icon too.

I wanna hear the Unicorn song by the Irish rovers! Hey everything is green!

Part of me actually pities the guy. Death row would be a horrible existence. He'll be with such lovely people like Richard Allan Davis (Polly Klass's murderer) Richard Rameriz (sp?) (night stalker) I mean it's gotta be your worst nightmare to have these people as your neighbors. And I agree that he'll die of old age before he gets the needle. California has the biggest DR in America, because they don't put people to sleep there. I believe Polly Klass's father, Mark, said that there is an agenda among defense attorneys to keep the appeals going forever in their silent protest against the death penalty. Who knows, but they sure don't seem to kill them like our southern neighbors do. I gotta tell you though, When I saw those verdicts come in, it made me sick the way people were clapping and cheering. That was offensive and inappropriate. This was a serious offense, and penalty. It's not supposed to be a party.

Happy Birthday OE! I love onions btw

Al I thought you had a good post, but I have to ask about that quote"the true measure of a man is not how well he loved but rather how much he was loved by others " I always thought that quote was the other way around "The true measure of a man/woman is not how much he/she was loved by others but by how much he/she loved. I mean God and Jesus certainly loved us more than people loved them. You know? I know people who love others who absolutely loath them. That's the heart of God.

You guys must be drinking some of that Michael Jackson Jesus juice.

I believe she gave a general press interview (with a lawyer by her side) that all the stations have been playing. My guess is that she probably has to keep her mouth shut from here on out because she will be a witness at the trial. Just my guess. I don't know. She could use the reward money too. I bet that book "The purpose driven life" is really going to take off now.

Plus the "green Honda" that Nichols originally carjacked, which had a nationwide APB out on it, was discovered 13 hours later by a regular passerby! It was parked in the same parking garage near the same spot where Nichols carjacked it from the reporter. Nichols didn't even drive it out of the garage. It appears he parked it, then walked out and caught a train. So everyone was looking for this car for 13 hours and it was practically IN THE SAME SPOT! I also read that all the guards were running, guns drawn, in the exact opposite direction of where Nichols fled. Columbos these guys are not.

The nationwide manhunt Friday and Saturday that came out of Atlanta. Brian Nichols, who was a defendant on trial for rape and aggravated sodomy, among other things, overpowered a guard when he was waiting to go to his trial He was 6'1and 220 lbs the female guard 5'2 and 50 years old. He critically injured her, killed a judge, court reporter, a deputy sheriff, pistol whipped a reporter in one carjacking, and later carjacked and murdered a federal customs official. Ashley is a 26 year old single mom (Her husband was murdered 4 years ago) with a 5 year old daughter. She ran out for smokes at like 2am and was accosted by Nichols on her way back. She was tied, bound, and kept hostage for hours and was able to talk to him and get herself out of the situation and call the police. It's a huge, long story, with much more detail then I'll get into here, cause it's all over the news. They had like 100 cops out there with a Swat team surrounding the complex. She truly believed God had Nichols meet up with her so she could keep him from hurting any more people. This lady is just incredible, and she's giving all the credit to the hand of God being involved. It's just incredible. I mean she's got the most hardnosed reporters just shaking their heads in wonder.

Have you seen her press conference yet? This lady is truly inspiring. Too bad they can't give her more reward money. I'm wondering now if she'll have to claim that reward money on her taxes and give back half or something.

I have to say if it were not for CES, I would have still been very much a wayfer head. They were the ONLY ones who could reach me. When I was close to forever leaving the local offshoot, out of sheer aggravation and desperation, I was still very narrow-minded in my views towards other teachings. CES was able to actually get through to me, to enable me to enjoy God and other people and teachings in a whole BIGGER way. This forum, or the old Waydale forum, helped a LOT too. Basically what I had to learn was how to think for myself for once. I pulled back from CES after I found myself simply trying to substitute them for what I had just left. Just like after I left the Way, I found this local offshoot years later, and though it was a cliquish, dull, lifeless place from the very beginning, I was convinced that these people were the only ones with the truth. Sigh. I find it a pattern with others as well. Like this ex-wayfer couple I know who got involved with Quixtar. Same thing almost, they're repeating the pattern of what they're used to. But although I may not want to get too involved with CES, I'll give them credit where credit is due, and they have blessed my life in some ways.

AOL can be annoying. I got TOSed for making an off color Republican joke on a message board. Then one night I was playing hangman with Zola, the AOL IMbot (yes I need a life) and I got disconnected with some message that I "exceeded my rate limit" I got back on and looked up what that meant and I guess if you send too many IMs in a certain amount of time they cut you off. It's supposed to control spam. OOOOOOOOOkaaaaaaaaay.

People leave the Way and follow similar offshoots because that is what they are familiar with. It happens time and time in any religion. No matter what sect it is. I've seen people leave the Way and join Quixtar/Amway. The recruiting/purpose...EXACTLY the same. People are hungry for God's Word. (I'll never understand why Benny Hinn packs them in...other than that.) They want to be part of a group that is secure and safe to them. They want to belong. It's easier to belong to an offshooot than a whole new way of religion. The oldstyle religion gives you the comforts of home, what you were brought up on. In the end though, they still become frustrated. What you are seeking for is what you were trying to escape from. Ya know?

Well, who IS the truth, outside of Christ. I enjoy watching several religious shows on TLN but my leg hairs start to bristle whenever they start talking about people who don't believe in the trinity are heretics. What it comes down to is people really believe what they are talking about. Right or Wrong. You can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Like one guy told me. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. ;)-->

I was almost going to start a thread yesterday asking what is going on at CES. I wrote to them several weeks ago asking them to recommend an evolution tape (Bibical facts vs the theory of evolution) and never got an answer back. So I actually called John's phone number that was posted on the "Contact us" page and it was disconnected. I was surprised, because it had been an efficient ministry, and outdated phone numbers and no responses back to emails is sloppy, you know? wwjesuslaughat: I'm glad you said that too, because I wanted to say I like him too but didn't want to start a war, LOL. I've only met him a few times and I DON'T agree with some of his philosophies at all, but I really do believe he has a good heart. And yeah, your right, religious leaders make mistakes all the time. Which is why I enjoy watching Joyce Meyer, she's so real about her life, past and present. Anyway, glad this thread was brought up. Maybe we'll find out whats going on over there.

Oh I just read Oaks part of why she's a Dr. Okay. I guess I'll go around calling myself Saint Rottie since technically according to the bible I'm a Saint. Again I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but as far as I'm concerned the only ones who I'm going to call DR. are the ones who can prescribe me drugs.
-
I CAN'T STAND Laura Schlessinggooper or whatever her name is. Where does she get the "dr." part from anyway? I think her and Nancy Grace should team up. We can have two self righteous judgmental bitches standing on their pedestals telling everyone how screwed up everyone but them are. To answer the question. Last I heard in "Robert Feders" column in the Chicago Suntimes. Chicago said good riddance to the self proclaimed anointed so holy I can walk on water witch years ago. Hey sorry if I sound harsh, but you asked!!!!!!!!!!

Steve: I guess it's something I wouldn't know unless I'd be put to the decision. I've seen unfortunate situations like Psalmies where people have spent some serious money on their animals, and they died. Too sum it up, you do the best that you can do at the time the problem arises. And I applaud people who do spend that kind of money, but I can sure empathize with people who just can't do it at the time. Of course people can go overboard both ways. I saw one couple who was keeping a dog alive through blood transfusions for well over a year when the poor thing really should have been put to sleep. And I've heard of people who put down a cat because it cost 50 bucks for an ear infection it got. Psalmie: So happy to hear it looks evident your kitty got a new home! And I know what you mean about a petless home. It's so cold!
-
So sorry Psalmie! Please don't allow other folks judge you about your decision! You are a caring animal caregiver! I also know what you mean about the bills. I've known people who have spent thousands on their animals operations, something that I simply wouldn't be able to do right now should something happen. However, I still wouldn't doubt myself for one second that I'm capable of taking the best care I can of an animal. So God bless your heart for what you have given to His creatures.

The town dog catcher, who would have thunk? dmiller. Agreed completely, with your last sentence. Amen to that. Satori, lol. But your're right, how many seemingly normal citizens are out there like him? exie: Yeah that's the guy. What is confusing to me, is I saw him a couple weeks ago on Larry King, when they were discussing BTK. And I swear he said that his 2 siblings who were at home (I think he had 4 in total) LIVED! And he got them out of the house. I don't get it because it's in direct contrast to what was reported. He has been in trouble with the law, and some people are trying to help him back on his feet. The son, I mean. They also had another guy on larry king, that was absolutely heartbreaking. His mother got murdered in his view when he was 5 years old. They showed a couple of snippets of a local reporter interviewing him and it was heartbreaking. He blames himself. He said he was the one who let his mothers killer in when the guy knocked on his door asking if his parents were home. He said his Mom was sick in bed and he let the guy in, and his Mom was murdered. He too, has been in and out of jail, on misdomeanors, drugs I believe. I mean this serial killer/sadist has really screwed up peoples lives. Interstingly, his daughter Kerri (Dennis Rader's daughter) Has a website, (and yes this is his daughter) She is 26 years old, and a graduate of Kansas State University. She's very, very into Christianity, and has close to a dozen links on her website to Bible research/ministries, etc. Unbelieavable. I've also read a couple of very different reports of how they were able to link this guy to the killings.... But I'm tired of writing now. I'm lazy. I'll follow up later. Like anyone cares. ;)--> LOL (well, maybe exie does, she's a crime buff.)
-
FINALLY. They showed his pic and name. It's the guy. Dennis Rader :P-->arkcityks.com+rader&hl=en" TARGET=_blank>Welcome to Park City! Looks like he's also president (or was at some time) of his Lutheran Church? Christ Lutheran Church of Wichita

clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap I'd like to thank my wife, children, my dog Harvey, who went plenty of nights without his beggin strips, the fish, Larry, whos bowl was rarely cleaned, and last but not least, my lawnmower Vera. clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap CNN just broke in to ask if the reporter if there ever going to get around to saying who the hell this guy is or not.

This is worse than the Oscars waiting for these people to stop congratulating each other before they announce this guys name. Sheesh.
