That's what I thought at first, too. But when I watched it again, I noticed that he is waving and trying to get her attention BEFORE that, while she is being enticed by the worldly stuff, but when she drops the gun and reaches out toward him, he is in a "tug of war" stance and PULLING her toward him; and then he jumps in and fully blocks them at the climax. He's in there "pulling" for us more than we know!

You'd have to sue Paul Anka for "My Way". He's the one that wrote it, although Frank and Elvis both had hits with it. And what about that edition of the modern English Bible that said THE WAY on it? Remember those?

I wasn't thinking of Rosalie personally when I saw the movie... but the legalism and rules and regulations that made no sense reminded me very much of TWI mentality. The Ministry says this is what to do... if you question it you are looked on with suspicion, and if you keep it up, you're sacked. The firing of that teacher (I forget her name) when she had no place else to go reminded me so much of when they fired all those Limb coordinators in the "fog years."

I still believe those few things, with one qualification. We were taught we didn't go to heaven "right away" as you put it. But they were rather vague about what happens in the end. I believe we don't go to heaven at all, but rather inherit the Kingdom of God on earth, which is what Jesus taught. The whole idea that the kingdom on earth was only for Israel is a problem. It separates Jesus from his words, which we are supposed to believe. Both of these seem to be huge stumbling blocks for a lot of other Christians.

Yes; LCM thought Stayin' Alive was a ripoff of his ideas for AOS! Besides that, though, the whole mentality of "kickin' devil spirits' butts" (in AOS and in things like this video) influenced many leaders in TWI. The result being that they focused on THEIR ability to "win the competition" and missed the whole point of relying on the Lord. If you remember, Jesus Christ was barely (if at all) mentioned in AOS. It was all about the Minister.

As the above quotes from Genesis show, man was given plants to eat at first, and only after the flood was he given meat. The prophet Isaiah foretells that when the earth is restored to its original state, animals will once again live in peace and not eat each other. Isa 11: 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. " The last I heard (a few years ago, from a site I can't find anymore), Wierwille Hall housed the National Teachers' Hall of Fame, the old Chapel was being used as a church, Owens Hall was a school, Anderson Library was still a Carnegie Library and owned by Emporia State Univ., and Kipp and Emporia Halls were torn down and replaced by apartment buildings for retirement housing. If I remember correctly the Campus Center was owned by a telemarketing company. The "back forty" is now a housing development. I found the storage area beneath the stage in Kenyon to be nice. You got to it through the basement of Kenyon. There were huge rolls of material (or maybe carpeting - I'm not sure) that one could lie on for a nap. It was usually quiet, but once I was down there when some Way prod people used the stage (right above my head) to rehearse. It was pretty cool being able to hear them when they had no idea I was down there. Gee - I've never told anyone about this before. I feel cleansed! BTW, Jonny, The signatures in the elevator shaft in Kipp are no longer there, as Kipp Hall is no longer there. It and Emporia Hall were torn down and replaced by apartment buildings when the campus was subdivided. At least you have your memories.

Exactly, Abigail! Many of the prophecies of the OT spoke of the Messiah coming and ruling, restoring the Kingdom to Israel. It would be on an earth that is free from the curse of sin (Isaiah talks about this a lot). The promise was originally to Abraham, and involved the land, and offspring, and even material blessings. Then the promise to David was specifically that a king would come from his offspring and would rule in righteousness. The Prophets expanded on that theme and spoke of the Messiah ruling the entire world with perfect, righteous judgment, because he would be empowered by God and would in fact be God's Son. Everything wrong with the world because of sin and man's selfish, wicked heart, would be made right. As you say, the Jews expected the Messiah to establish this Kingdom and fulfill the promises, but he didn't at that time, which is why many of them rejected that he was the Messiah. What they didn't understand was that Jesus also had to accomplish something else in addition to proclaiming that the Kingom of God was at hand. There was still the issue of man's sin to deal with. He had to pay the price for our sins so that we could have entrance into that kingdom. And he taught his disciples that there would be a period of time during which the Kingdom would be in a hidden "seed" form. What he did NOT do, however, was to redefine the Kingdom as primarily a Kingdom in the heart instead of a literal Kingdom on earth. Many Christians mistakenly believe that the idea of a literal, physical Kingdom on earth is too "Jewish" and too "carnal" - but this is in fact what Jesus and all his disciples proclaimed, and continued to proclaim throughout the book of Acts. There is a day of judgment coming, after which God's Kingdom, ruled perfectly by His Son, will be established on earth. And we who have accepted him in this day and age will have the privilege of ruling with him. That is the ultimate goal and focal point of all that Jesus preached, yet you hardly ever hear about it in most Christian churches. They refer to the Kingdom of God as "God's reign in your heart" and teach that we all go to either heaven or hell when we die. But Jesus never taught such a thing. He always preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and he charged his disciples to preach the same Gospel. He taught us to pray, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." I believe this is the overall theme of the entire Bible, and that many other things in the Bible become clear when viewed in light of this central theme.

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
