That's Doctor WordWolf, and you missed your OWN context. Actually, it was nicely representative, and was as accurate as if I'd spent an hour writing up example after example. Amazing you seem to have missed every example vpw gave in his own life. If it wasn't YOU missing them, I'd wonder how someone could fail to see it. As you've demonstrated aptly, with you, he succeeded beyond his expectations. If he'd drawn a pistol and shot into the crowd at the Big Top, killing some of them, you'd criticize us for still discussing it, after all, everyone affected is now dead. This seems to periodically surprise you, but law forums discuss the law, car forums discuss cars, and twi forums discuss twi. This is the purpose of the GreaseSpot Cafe. Therefore, anyone who is even partially aware of why we're here should expect us to discuss vpw, his classes, his structures, his felonies. No, you're not. This is fairly unique, since I've explained in my posts why I post here. Therefore, most people here know why I post here. Yeah well, before you and a host of others go about accusing VPW of that, He DID ruin people's lives. Amazing how you can absolutely live in denial of that. People whose lives were ruined-PERSONALLY-by him have posted here. In GREAT detail. For YEARS. New arrivals seem to pick this up, after a short time reading the accounts here. There are several reasons you might have missed this, but by now, it's obvious this is intentional. Even the vpw apologists usually don't try to deny that vpw spent the group's money on his personal vices and luxuries while insisting others not spend money on THEIR luxuries and vices, and he raped and molested lots of women in twi, resorting to drugging them when they were reluctant. Ooo, WTH's famous mirror that he brings up all the time! Maybe he's got some sort of mirror fixation. Ok, I can play this game! See the new thread for this game.... Rather than offer the timeless principles of God, vpw cut all corners. He slapped together an organization "prefab", and his doctrine "prefab" (he plagiarized the best he could find.) He then put forth the propaganda campaign that he himself was some great one. All the members gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying 'this man is the great power of God', and they all gave heed to him, and for long time he bewitched them with his line of bs. He used the zeitgeist's disaffection with organized religion to pretend he was offering something "DISorganized", then slowly added more rules that suited him. HE was the one who dabbled in politics. HE was the one who dabbled in "social activism" (depending on what one means with that- there's currently insufficient numbers in twi to be "activist" in anything bigger than a PTA or Community Planning Board.) HE was the one who isolated it from everyone else. ("We're BETTER than the rest! Don't ever trust organized religion!") Hm. Sounds like vpw was primarily responsible for twi, from early on, attempting to operate as a "political isolated fringe activist group." I suppose that applies to a FEW. I'd say thousands upon thousands more-either from WayDale, the GSC or having never posted here and just getting on with their lives-attempted to be their best for God in other fashions and just cared more about that than they did about money, sex or luxuries. The minorities who have done so, I AGREE, are sad and misguided. (See-we actually agree on something!) Most people here can't say that this applies to them. Most of those who that DOES apply to post here once or twice a year, make a drive-by posting ad, explain how they know what we don't, and leave. (Hm. That sounds familiar.) Further, you STILL have no idea what I do when I'm not logged in to the GSC. Finally, when I encounter all the superholy people who feel qualified to pass judgement on me while lacking basic information to form an opinion, I make a mental note not to invite nor direct them anywhere. So, don't worry about having to refuse an invitation to my church. Now, THAT's a ridiculous caricature. (A "strawman".) Nobody's formed the "Church of the anti-vpw". If you count GSC as a "church", you've forgotten what a church IS. Then again, why am I surprised? Yes, that's too bad. First of all, you're vision has frozen to the level that you're unable to recognize the Christian efforts of anyone other than yourselves. If you had macular degeneration, you could have surgery. Sadly, spiritual macular degeneration is not solved so easily-there is no "surgery of the heart"-short of the direct intervention of God Almighty. If one was to judge YOUR spiritual life based purely on the content of your posts at GSC, one's logical conclusions would be "WTH spends all his time denying testimony of hundreds of witnesses, and bends all his effort towards obscuring evidence and misdirecting attention away from the truth. WTH does nothing profitable to God with his time." Harsh, perhaps, but you were the one who was making the comparison. I just used your OWN standard on your OWN behaviour. You didn't INTEND to be a typical "do as I say not as I do" hypocrite like you say most churches are LOADED with, did you? You DO think it's fair to apply your own standard to your own life, right?

I remembered "Don't let your * run your life" and that guy's other "word of wisdom" about being all right if you can make it thru the night without suicide, but I thought they were too depressing. I thought the other quotes were more memorable. Considering I probably haven't seen the movie since the mid-80s, I think I remembered quite a bit. ====== The scene towards the end when they shone the flood-lights at the kidnappers and pretended to be the police had the first quote. One driver told the driver with the bullhorn: "Yo-tell him we're Batman!" That was my favourite line back then. "I see Bruce Lee!" was the only clue they had to the kidnappers' location. The thing about his Daddy's boots came up all movie (why they were too big on him and how he made them fit, etc), and the third quote was when they were rescuing him. Since he was, the driver jerked his steering wheel, leaving the boots with the kidnappers. ==== One driver quit and sold souveniers on the street dressed as Uncle Sam. The vet who used the flamethrower to light his fireplace came up a lot. His immediate response, when he came home unexpectedly and found his wife cheating on him, was "Where's my flamethrower?" in a calm voice. Yes, he would have fried the guy. His wife made the comment about the stooges to him earlier, when he decided to invest that reward money and get decent cabs, and split it with all the drivers. She said you could have faith in your country and some other stuff. The Uncle Sam driver was OBSESSED with Irene Cara, and grabbed someone else's cab when he spotted her looking for a cab. Of course, one driver was a good ol' boy, and he wasn't going to go in on the plan to renovate the company unless he had his one demand met- he got Elvis' birthday off. ==== *waits for Sharon to post a quote*

I think the other discussion's pretty much run its course, based on the recent derail attempts. So, a related discussion. I know lcm is still alive, but I'm not addressing his present PRIMARILY (although you are welcome to do so on this thread.) I want to know about his PAST- from his time thru college to his history after college. If someone was trying to get a grasp on who this former president of twi was and why discussions of twi mention him, what would you tell them? If someone was writing up a short biography on the man, what would you want to make sure they included? All viewpoints are welcome- but please try to stick to the TOPIC of lcm-his life and history. That is, if you don't think this thread serves any real purpose, just ignore it and let those who see relevance to it post on it. Thank you all so much (in advance).

This post from earlier in the thread addressed what vpw thought about other people's opinions, and it didn't even go into how he insisted on being called "THE Teacher" and his preference for the "Dr" thing.

I think there's a few people who'd remember me in 20 years if I died today, who aren't related to me...remember me in a memorializing way, NOT the way vpw is remembered. I'd rather be forgotten than have his legacy behind me. "As special as vpw?" Well, Torquemada is still being talked about centuries after HE died, and, wonder of wonders, it's NOT because he was such a committed Christian. A) It's been made clear vpw was primarily concerned with what some people thought of him. B) What makes you think this discussion is about what matters to HIM? Or to those who care that he ruined lives, practiced simony, perverted the office of minister, did so in a premeditative fashion, and sculpted his successor into twofold the child of hell that HE was. Any good I got from him was paid for dearly by the crushed hearts of my sisters and brothers in Christ. I find that unconscionable. I just did. Someone claimed to represent the true God, and siphoned the life from my spiritual family like some movie vampire. Why anyone would claim this ISNT what's bugging me is beyond me-unless they want to draw attention from the fact that vpw raped and molested Christians in his flock, and was only stopped from doing it more by lingering illness and an early death. If THAT was my concern, this would be a STUPID place to spend time. Besides, my own legacy has nothing to do with twi nor this messageboard. Could you possibly be MORE mistaken about me? I've even posted my reasons on this thread. Are you THAT poor a reader? Oh-I forgot who I was addressing. You ARE that poor a reader, based on how completely you've mischaracterized me before. I've got a question for you. What did you smoke that led you to think that had anything to do with this discussion? You're free to believe that, but the evidence does not support your belief. It shows that he did his best to fashion a public persona and have thousands of people revere and adore him.

Correct, "DC Cab." Which quote gave it away for you? (I'm just curious.) Odd that the name came up on another thread after I'd been dropping quotes....

Nothing that recent.

No need- I usually don't find much to argue about when it comes to that site. Usually anything that isn't doctrinal/opinion is well-documented.

Way Corps paid as full-time staff - What was gained?

Thanks, signals. There's a variety of his nicknames scattered around the "Greasespot-speak" thread in the Greasespot 101 forum. -
About 100,000 people have signed up for pfal. If you think back, that's how many people paid their money and gave their names, not how many made it to Session 1. That's also not how many people made it to Session 12, and not how many stuck around AFTER. Just counting my first pfal, 8 people were signed up as new students, including me. 7 of us showed up for Session 1. 3 of us completed Session 12. (Me and 2 people in twi families.) So, saying there were 100,000 people or more IN twi is more than an exaggeration.

What's the deal with the British accent? I gotta problem...
WordWolf replied to J0nny Ling0's topic in Open
I think I have a cheap $2 pair of the ears SOMEWHERE. Never actually planned to USE them, just thought they'd be handy to have. I know there are people who make Klingon batleth "swords", but I can't see buying a prop the price of a used car. ==== The thing I thought about the McFlys-other than the inbred community thing- was that the guys in the family must all seem to like women looking one specific way. (No, I don't think that's very sensible, but that's the best explanation I had.) -
Quote 2... "I see Bruce Lee!" Quote 3.... "Tell me you're still wearing your Daddy's boots!"

In order of importance, as I see it.... A) To provide information so new people don't get caught in twi. "In vain is the snare set in sight of any bird." B) To provide information so people in twi can see there's BETTER life OUTSIDE twi. C) To provide information so people who are out of twi, but twi is not out of THEM, can get past it. (Yes, when people can leave here feeling they've accomplished all they can, it's a sign it's working.) D) To hang out with people who survived the same experiences. E) For interesting conversation. F) To feel young-most of the posters are older than me, and most places I post, it's the other way around! -->

Way Corps paid as full-time staff - What was gained?
WordWolf replied to ChasUFarley's topic in About The Way
It was FIVE graduates, not 9. That's why they've taken to announcing assignments in PERCENTAGES, so they don't have to give hard numbers and show how few there are. (Which is why some people still can find ways to believe twi isn't hemorrhaging members.) BTW, signals, I'd consider it a personal favour if you didn't speak ill of wolves or werewolves. Alpha wolves GUARD their pack, and don't bloodsuck them like ticks. Alpha wolves are always the FIRST to face danger, and will do so FOR their pack. As for werewolves, most of them would be horrified by vpw's behaviour. Ever see the short-lived tv series Wolf Lake? It has been said of the characters that it was one of the more family-oriented shows on the networks, and the families weren't even human-in fact, they were more protective of their families and communities than humans are. :D--> So, I ask you, please, be a pal. Thanks. -
When asked why he chose lcm, vpw said that it was a matter of loyalty-lcm would just do whatever vpw told him to do. Walter, apparently, thought for himself. Plus, Walter was not considered a dynamic speaker. (Too much substance, not enough style.) So, vpw chose lcm because lcm was the most rabid bootlicker to vpw, and had style that suited vpw. Since lcm's SUBSTANCE was nonexistent, this was the beginning of the end. Even vpw didnt see just how low the organization would stoop afterwards- the former Mrs W is now living in a "home" because she's outlived her usefulness to twi and thus is too expensive to support (despite her lending them legitimacy all those years.)

Great job, Outin88! You won't mind being quoted on that later, will you?

Did New knoxville/St. Mary's take a hit?because of TWI's decline?
WordWolf replied to gladtobeout's topic in About The Way
Which, of course, might just have been the normal result of normal business. Sad to say, but businesses close all the time, all over the world. The closings there MAY be related, or may NOT. Impossible to say without more information. -
The consensus around here, signals, is that the people at the top of twi now most prize money and comfort. Since twi's assets are mostly tied up in the "non-profit" organization, they have to keep the thing intact on paper and at least PRETEND to care about people in order to keep it-and their cash cow-alive. With it alive, they have 5-hour workweeks, cushy salaries, indentured servants doing all their chores and cooking all their meals, full health coverage, and so on. So, they want to keep it intact as long as humanly possible, because otherwise they "kill the goose that lays the golden eggs". They can't just put all the money in a suitcase and flee the country.

It's mostly agreed-upon here that, with vpw at the helm, you pretty much had a free ride at twi if: -you had a title like a PhD -you were famous, like on a sports team -you were a military officer -you had money -you held a public office -you were influential in your local community -you were in the immediate family of one of the above You WERE expected, at some point, to have a visible presence in twi, at the very least, be willing to be "name-dropped" often. Some people still seem unable to imagine that others' lives were destroyed while they and their family were treated quite nicely. Looks like you've figured out something they haven't.
