  1. To those of you still on the twi payroll.... I left a note for you on the "way corps to real life" thread.
  2. To any of you currently on the twi payroll.... This is just a friendly reminder of your future. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/waydale/editorial/waypay.htm A) twi has no retirement fund for employees whatsoever. B) twi does not pay into Social Security for its employees. (How it manages that without breaking the law is beyond me.) C) twi does not pay enough for you to put in $10 per paycheck into an individual retirement fund. D) twi does not have a 401(k) program. E) twi has a standard operating procedure of dropping people who are no longer of any use to them (like mrs wierwi11e) F) if you think twi will make an exception for you, please reread the previous line G) twi does not have any kind of job training program ======= What all of this means when you put it together: Financially, twi currently makes no effort to give you backup or a reserve of any kind. Sooner or later, it will cut you loose, probably later. Once twi cuts you loose, you will be unemployed with few job skills-if any, with no retirement fund and no money in Social Security. So, you will work fulltime until you die. From a financial self-preservation point of view, your best bet is to acquire job skills outside of twi, and work outside of twi. At least that way you have a chance to actually retire. A number of people in the "prevailing household" won't have that option.
  3. Sharon, just as I couldn't link back thru the same movie, you can't link back thru the same actor (Rip Torn). Please link from "Men in Black" thru a DIFFERENT actor.
  4. Defending Your Life Rip Torn Men In Black
  5. Sounds vaguely familiar....but I don't have it yet.
  6. As Research Geek pointed out once, a lot of people sent in studies and things that were used BY lcm, who made it look as if it was all HIS ideas and so on. Never admit you have any sources-that was the lesson he was taught by vpw, and he remembered it.
  7. What would a bright stage-light have to do with a devil, anyway?
  8. I've never heard that ANY kind of light can cause eye cancer. (Except excessive sunlight, now that we have a thinner ozone layer.) vpw used to claim the lights filming pfal in the EARLY 70s cause PERMANENT DAMAGE to his eyes. What kind of lights were these-industrial lasers?? This was less than a month of filming. Does anyone remember the film being washed out due to blindingly white light? Me neither. Was film of such low quality that they needed floodlights just to get the normal room-light on the resultant film? Not since movies added SOUND was it THAT severe. vpw WAS exposed to a carcinogen (cancer-causing agent) all the time. He chain-smoked all the time. He also DRANK all the time, which did not ensure a healthy immune system to filter out the cancerous substances. ==== Is it possible that eyes that are cancer-infected due to exposure to carcinogens can be more sensitive to bright-but not harmful- light levels? Now, THAT I can believe. I'd guess that he got his cancer, and MAY have felt pain with the bright lights because he had damaged eyes. It's also possible (since I dont have firsthand accounts from witnesses) that the lights never hurt him, and that story was completely added like his "miraculous snowstorms." Improbable? No, just the type of spin control he regularly engaged in. "Yes, my eye was destroyed. It wasnt my fault-it was the price I paid to bring you pfal, the greatest revelation of God to his people since Paul dictated from his prison cell, and I would gladly do it again for you all and lose my OTHER eye because that's how much I looooove you, keeeds..... *lights another cigarette* "
  9. While we're waiting... " A battleship in 'La Traviata'! "
  10. If you need to recover after seeing this, see the BBC version.
  11. It was a family-member almost exactly 10 years younger than me. I did, however, love retelling that story to you, more than once. The surreal part is how spot-on the imitation was, considering who said it. ===== Steve!, Miyagi met with his old flame on Okinawa. She was forbidden to marry Miyagi long ago-she was promised to Sato, Miyagi's best friend. Faced with possibly fighting his best friend to the death for her, Miyagi left Okinawa years ago. She now told him that she NEVER married (rather than marry someone she didnt love.) Miyagi replied HE never married EITHER. I STILL say he lied thru his teeth. Under the circumstances, it didn't hurt her, and made her feel a lot better. (A separate discussion would be if the Categorical Imperative would make this a bad thing regardless.)
  12. I saw that coming when I realized they sacrificed the very recognizable description of Zaphod Beeblebrox in exchange for adding a cheap visual joke. He's supposed to have two matching heads above his necks, and a third arm which he had added to help improve his ski-boxing. The BBC version (of books 1 & 2) was produced on a shoestring budget, and, IMHO, is superior to what little I've seen of the current thing.
  13. *waits for pawnbroker* I wonder how Marcus is doing-I called him "Daniel-san" once...... My usual complaint about Karate Kid II was that it was soooo predictable. Every scene on Okinawa was interrupted by Sato's "Miyagiiii!" Someone walked by and guessed it seconds before the ONE time it was interrupted by the storm, when Sato was trapped under the log. I myself guessed the entire end-scene when the dance-performance began. I was interrupted by the events as I finished explaining them. My usual complaint about the trilogy was that they kept contradicting each other. Movie 1, Miyagi's lamenting the death of his wife, and Daniel sees her obituary. The secret to the Miyagi family karate: the Crane technique. "If do right, no can defend." There is NO move that has no counter. Of course, in the end, he wins by using the Crane. Movie 2, Miyagi says he never married. [My answer: he lied thru his teeth.] The secret to the Miyagi family karate: the Drum technique. Daniel attempts the Crane against Sato's student, who uses the counter and hits him. Daniel wins by using the Drum technique. Movie 3, early on, Miyagi announces he will teach Daniel the secret to the Miyagi family karate: the katas. (The forms, or demonstrations.) Daniel seems to have completely forgotten the Drum technique in this movie, and gets beat down in the arena. Daniel wins by using Kata in the arena. When we heard they were making "the Next Karate Kid", someone did their impression of Miyagi contradicting the previous movies for me... "*miyagi voice* You my first student!" It was such a good impression I have to mentally separate it from the actual movie.
  14. *still swinging* Johnny Mnemonic ?
  15. *wild guess* Mad Dog and Glory?
  16. Boogie Nights William H. Macy Mystery Men
  17. Spy Hard Barry Bostwick the Rocky Horror Picture Show
  18. *looks it up* I think those who watch movies with their kids might fill this one, but the rest of us probably will have no chance.
  19. I have to disagree. Even if it was true, the GSC has proven invaluable to a) people in, seeing how to leave b) people who left, helping them get twi out of their system and "processing" their experiences accurately However, the GSC gets considerable traffic from never-been-way lurkers, and people just looking up the group on the internet. That they can get information here (as well as other sites) makes it a LOT easier to pierce the veil of secrecy in the cornfield.
  20. Just took a while for my subconscious to finish the link.... Jennifer Esposito Dracula 2000 Christopher Plummer (linked to the old guy in deference to the other posters :D--> )
  21. Please note that, except for the LAST option, NO ASSUMPTION OF YOUR RELIGION IS BEING MADE. If Option 1 applies to you and you're a Bazooka Joe follower, please choose Option 1. ===== This subject was raised by one of our twi apologists. One method of distraction from the crimes and ruined lives destroyed by vpw, lcm and twi as a corporate body is a claim that the rest of us offer nothing better in our own lives than sitting around criticizing vpw all day. ==== I trust it is unnecessary to bother explaining what the GreaseSpot Cafe is here for, since that has already been accomplished. I trust it is also unnecessary to bother explaining that few, if any of us, spend 24/7 plugged into the GSC website and do NOTHING with our lives outside of it. (I'm not aware it applies ANY of us, and would recommend psychiatric counseling if anyone WAS doing a crazy thing like that.) ==== So, that brings us back to the original question. It may be silly and a distraction, but I think it's a fair one once it's been raised. You object to vpw raping, molesting and drugging his followers, squandering "God's money" on tobacco products, alcohol, planes, snowmobiles and other "luxury" items, and otherwise squandering the time and money afforded him. What do YOU do? Do YOU dip into the tithes and offerings to spend on tobacco, alcohol, drugs or luxuries? Do YOU rape and molest God's people? Do you train others to do these things? Do you withhold the tithes and offerings from those-Christians and nonChristians- from those who could need money, like for food or shelter or other necessities of life? What do you tell the man in the mirror? When approaching the end of your days, will YOUR main commentary on your OWN life be "I knew I could have been better-I wish I had bothered to do so" ? If you knew your own end was coming in a few months, how would you summarize your OWN life? Was it a waste? Did you do good? Do you care not at all either way? I'm asking GENERALLY, not "did you steal one pack of gum as a 7-year old, thus tainting you for life", although "I murdered someone at age 20" would be another thing entirely. If you feel anonymity is needed, you can mark the poll and not post.
