  1. Not this week, but keep me posted about next week....
  2. Actually, we had a post with the patch linked, but this link explains WHAT the problems were, and WHY a patch was needed.
  3. ....all of which, BTW, is the more detailed version of what I said before. I don't see any benefit in posting there or reading there, and I don't have time to look into bad things someone MIGHT be saying about me. Heck, I don't have time for all the things I can see a benefit in.
  4. Since Momentus was not actually used BY twi or by people IN twi, not everybody knows about it. Therefore, this thread. Can people who know about it please chime in? Can people with links on it please chime in? I know it was seen as important by some ex-twiers, and a number of people condemn the heck out of it. It's worth its own thread, so please, fill in the blanks.
  5. Here's the short version. JAL was a higher-up and inner-circle fellow who, like a few others who had held top positions, left twi a few years after lcm became the mogfot and, apparently, they struck sparks and were unable to work together. They knew where a lot of the bodies were buried, so to speak, and they left around the same time Schoenheit's paper on Adultery (check the GSC documents) was circulating and being called possessed or some dumb thing like that. JAL was one of a VERY few who wrote books released by American Christian Press. He wrote "Will The Real You Please Stand Up?" "Will The Real You Please Remain Standing?" and "Living In the Eye of the Storm." Somebody who knew him longer can fill in more details than that.
  6. I agree they're welcome to join in as an active participant and an equal. (Of course, mine is only one voice in the gallery, also, so my DISagreement wouldn't count for much. :)--> ) However, since many of us use screen-names, I've no guarantee they don't already visit or post under a pseudonym. I'm reasonably certain they already know this is not a good site to do recruitment. (So far, only one person seems to disagree.) :)-->

    Healing

AFAIK, conventional medicine's closest answer to this problem lies in stem-cell research, and an answer to this in THAT area is perhaps another 50 years or more in the future, if it's coming this century. That having been stated, if they've done some basic medical investigation (gotten 2nd and 3rd opinions, looked into stem-cell updates, etc.), it would be fair to say they can draw the conclusion that conventional medicine does not have an answer for them at this place and time. Therefore, they having faced the choice of giving up or looking elsewhere, they've elected to look elsewhere. Thus, this thread. =============== Offhand, I don't know of anyone with a great track record on healing. However, I do know they exist, and CAN be found. Might want to expand your search outside ex-twi survivors.
  8. "Isn't this the same old letter? I don't see a date?" "This letter is new." "I thought it looked very similar to this one posted here about a year ago that had 'Revised March 2003' at the top...I think it's the same one..." *links to identical letter, posted 12 months ago* "That's the one!" ===================== So, isn't that functionally-equivalent to "I was wrong-this is at least 12 months old. It's new compared to the 'original', 1988 version"? ==================== I really think it's significant that the 2003 version of this letter- the version 15 years after the 1988 version, has certain things identical. Over 15 years later, he still left in "In closing, let me say that I honestly believe that Dr. Wierwille would be very proud of what we are doing." Previously, GS'ers had some comments about this. A pair of my favourites follow... "Ok, so he was proud of Tick, proud of his boom-boom bus, and visibly proud of his status as the 'man of God', #1 substitute for that absent Christ John Lynn mentions. Should the reader take this to be a posthumous endorsement of a philandering sociopath, oh yeah, and cult leader?" "The reality is, Victor Paul Wierwille was a seedy, sleazy, perverted, self-aggrandizing, thoroughly AND throughly self-serving dirt baf, whatever he taught. Some of it had value, because, like all counterfeits, it had to be close to the real thing. His odious approval in life, AND from beyond the grave (what a laugh) is worth less than the bag of dirt he was." "To balance out the above, Dr Wierwille's ministry also brought many people into a relationship with God and through his ministry many people received eternal life." Anything else I add to that will just be rehashes of one or the other.
  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw Pharoah giving the signet ring to Joseph as a "power-of-attorney", and saw a similarity to the authority given Jesus Christ. (Someone once told me the concept of the "power-of-attorney" was unknown in Jesus' time. Since it was in effect in Genesis, that would have been strange.)
  10. If anyone's attacking me on another board, I don't know of it, if they are, I wish they'd stop, and I don't care enough about it to launch an investigation or to wade into insult-fests anywhere. You may consider that whatever you want. I don't have enough time or inclination to investigate what people MIGHT say about me.
  11. This is an OLD chart. It was denomination STUPIDITY like this that served the opposite purpose to what they intended. twi claimed that all denominations were foolish and filled with no-nothing idiots. Denominations, when mentioning twi, mindlessly parroted these OBVIOUSLY false claims, which were EASY to look into- but they DIDN'T. These fools did a better job of convincing me to stay with twi than anything twi did. twi's evils have nothing to do with this chart, and don't fit in so neatly on an "evilness" chart. Just about EVERYBODY claimed twi made up its OWN Bible, or only used Lamsa's. That was laughingly easy to disprove. EVERY wayfer owned at least one copy of the King James Version, which they used almost exclusively. SOME wayfers had the Lamsa version-which is hardly a twi Bible. Has anyone here walked into a Christian bookstore or a Barnes & Noble and bought it? You could, I've seen it in both places.
  12. Why I've been liking FireFox during my shakedown.... A) It's my favourite price for software B) More secure than IE, slightly faster than IE. C) Close enough to IE from an ergonomics POV that I am pretty much hitting the same keys and commands for the same functions. D) Built-in popup blocker, plus easy-to-add extra features. Eventually I'll have to get converted to the tabbed browsing (which is built-in), but this way I can ease into it slowly. ============================ No fair rewriting your message while I'm responding! :D--> Especially when you do a 180. Thanks for the heads-up.
  13. Oh, there it is. I downloaded something that supposedly allows you to right-click on things that disabled the right-click, but I haven't seen that one in action yet. *click* Hm-I could have SWORN there was a post above mine with instructions... :D-->
  14. This may come as a surprise to you, but just in case it does..... You do not have a Constitutional right to the Greasespot Cafe. You do not have a Constitutional right to READ here, let alone POST here. You do not have a Constitutional right to post pornography here, expletives, hate-speech, or incite overthrowing a government. This is the Greasespot Cafe, proprietor, Pawtucket. That means that the rules are determined by....Pawtucket. The court of appeals to the rules is....Pawtucket. If you think Pawtucket should do things your way, the authority to direct that to is...Pawtucket. If you think Pawtucket's being silly or whatever, and think that he's not giving you a satisfactory answer, the authority to direct that to is...nobody. Lick your wounds and let it slide, or leave. Please note that posting a tantrum about it-"I think Pawtucket is being restrictive! He dresses funny and smells!"- is absolutely off-limits. ======================== Outside of this message forum is a place called "the internet". If you want things to go EXACTLY your way, make your own board. ====================== Spend some time among some other boards. If you badmouth the admins, you will either be removed immediately, or be verbally abused by the regulars, THEN banned (or, more likely, vice versa.) Some boards allow swearing and posting of hate-speech, pornography, etc. Bully for them. If that's what you want, go THERE, or make one. Paw has determined that, in order to fulfil its mandate-which he has determined-certain limits are in effect. If you think his limits are restrictive, you're either comparing the GSC with "unmoderated forums", or you have no sense of what other boards allow. I post on a variety of boards, under a variety of names. I've seen non-Christians complain that lack of moderation killed certain forums and made them unusable. I've NEVER seen an ABSENCE of moderation result in a healthy board. Paw does a lot, and puts up with a lot, to ensure the board is as "inclusive" as he can. When he steps in to make changes, it is only when conventional methods of correction have failed. (He steps in when we can't behave ourselves, and no sooner.) Characterizing the GSC as overly-restrictive is silly. Considering that your posts saying that are still intact, they are also shown to be inaccurate. "This is how Nazi Germany got started." Give me a break. If ANYPLACE can be compared to that, IT ISN'T THE GSC.
  15. Ok, I dowloaded all of those, except Spiderzilla which I'm not ready for. (Including NukeAnything, which did not have a handy little link. Bad Zixar. No Code Red Mountain Dew for you. ;)--> ) Now that I'm running the whole shebang, where do I FIND my copy of NukeAnything? (I tested everything for viruses and adware and spyware and stuff already. Nice to see they were all clean.)
  16. Too soon to tell. Ask me in 3 months. I need to view the next wave of threads and posts to make an informed decision.
  17. I've been using AdBlock for all of a few hours, and I think I'd freak if I had to give it up forever. :D-->
  18. I think other people have done stuff with it SINCE Oral Roberts, but I don't have any links offhand. I think the initial question is a good one, and I'm hoping someone with some time on their hands will tackle it before me. (If not, there will be a LONG wait.)
  19. Some attended "sky-clad", no kidding? This sounded fairly PUBLIC. (Lots of attendees.) Did they think they were Betazoids or something? (You're just messing with us, right, Galen?)
  20. I'm not aware of any problems resulting from using Flash. (If there are, I should really be in the soup by now.) I would hang onto IE as a backup. There are a few websites that run better in IE, and one or two that won't run in Mozilla-at least, that was true a few years ago. Most viruses, trojans, etc. attempt to use security flaws in either Windows or Internet Explorer, or both. One govt agency just issued a warning about 2 IE flaws, and recommended using something else. Microsoft released a hotfix within hours of the announcement, proving that they CAN release timely security patches when they WANT to. They'd left that one alone for over a month from the time it was discovered. EXACTLY how secure you are, I can't say. MOST secure is all the stuff that's been recommended before, plus a Linux operating system instead of Windows, and a Mozilla browser rather than IE. Someone else will have to chime in. (I take it as a given you're already using a firewall, antivirus, AdAware, and Spybot S & D. If not, get thee to the Registry Keys thread. :)--> ) =========================================
  21. I've been told the Dept of Consumer Affairs gets better results than the Better Business Bureau. I'd tell BOTH groups. =================== If nobody can get your money back for you, I'd look into suing them in Small Claims Court. Legally, you are entitled to pay a fair price for a product as advertised and free of defects.
  22. Some people are real tetchy about it, and I may be one of the loudest. I don't think most care too much, unless you start piling a stack of them in the wrong forum. In the "About the Way" forum, it woul be a LOT easier to direct you to other threads on related subjects to what you asked, and people looking to discuss this would be able to find it. I'm sure you knew that already. :)-->
  23. [WordWolf in boldface.] [sadly, yes, I agree with you there. Inflammatory statements DO happen around here. However, I do NOT agree that they SHOULD happen here. We are adults, and do NOT need to resort to insults and similar things when communicating. I think better of almost all the posters here than to think they can't communicate without insulting people they disagree with. There are new arrivals, lurkers, and old timers, trying to heal wounds dealt them by life and twi here. To expect so little of ourselves that we can't behave civilly does them and us a disservice. I owe myself better than that, and I prefer to give better than that, even to total strangers. Perhaps we see this differently than each other.]
  24. If making the statement causes Zix to ask that the bigotry be kept to himself, the obvious inference is that he is calling the statement bigotted, although he has not _technically_ done so.That being said, I find the statement offensive and inflammatory as well. *thinks* I'll have to disagree with you on that point, Oakspear. The statement was that the post was "offensive." The comment that followed concerned the poster's "bigotry". Were the two connected? Yes. Were the two identical? There, I'd have to disagree. vpw was never caught actually making anti-Semitic statements that I know of. (For the sake of this discussion, let's presume he was never caught at them and move on.) He DID, however, make some statements that demonstrated an anti-Semitic MENTALITY. They statements THEMSELVES were not necessarily anti-Semitic. Related, but not identical. Of course, you may disagree with me, and think he's directly saying the statement was bigoted. Me, I think he was saying the statement was a result of a bigoted mentality, resulting in an offensive statement. Of course, I'm not the mog here- feel free to draw your own conclusions.
  25. A review of the "About the Way" forum threads and the twi Doctrine archives should give you all the content you need without subjecting you to the actual books. You DON'T need the books. Really. Oh, and next time, please post this in "About the Way" since this is "About the Way". The Open forum is for everything that there isn't a specific forum for.
