  1. Of course. You were on spiritual probation. Your MONEY was not on any kind of probation. Their slogan SHOULD read "Your money is welcome at The Way." :D-->
  2. *runs in* For a moment, I thought you meant I could link thru Bea Arthur.... I can't exactly RECITE his filmography, but I THINK the link you meant was: Joel Grey Remo Williams:the Adventure Begins Kate Mulgrew Surprises the heck out of you sometimes when you can recognize actors you didn't years ago....
  3. I looked it up too. I haven't heard of the song OR the artist.
  4. Figured it was too easy. Right, KD. I don't know YOUR movie, though.
  5. Next movie.... "Abbie Someone." "Abbie Someone. Abbie WHO?" "Abby...Normal." "Abby Normal." "Yes, I'm almost certain that was the name."
  6. *blink* You're kidding. I mean. I knew it all along! :D--> ====== Sometimes I can name them in ONE quote, sometimes it takes 1/2 the movie.... ====== Let's see, another movie.....
  7. According to a quick search, that was "outandabout".
  8. Pipe? How can you inherit a PIPE? :D-->
  9. A) By one person's standard of 'popular', threads consisting of a lot of people suggesting one delusional one get professional help are far more popular than this one. Relevance of popularity? Obviously it's not "content", else this one would lag far behind those, by virtue of number of posts and number of reads. B) You think it's like the KKK here? Posted on any NORMAL messageboards anytime? Walked outside recently? C) The exact reason we have anonymous moderators was already given. We had mods not anonymous for a while, but that didn't work. Pawtucket answered your question 7/5/05, 3:24am So, instead of positing an anonymous conspiracy, consider that you were given the actual reason, and consider whether you'd like to get over yourself. You do not have a Constitutional right to dictate how the GSC operates. (Neither do I.) If you don't like something, appeal to the powers-that-be. Don't like the answer you get? Either get over it, or move on. No one is forcing you to eat here. The internet is a big place. Don't like one messageboard? Find another.
  10. Well, we know it was PETUNIA'S agreement that sealed Harry's protection at the Dursley household. Frankly, I saw it to HER advantage. So long as Harry visits there once a year, he's protected from Voldy while he's there-they get protection 12 months out of the year. Dumbledore has communicated with both Dursleys-like when they found out about the Ford Anglia incident. However, his last communication TO PETUNIA was what he meant when he sent the Howler that said "Remember my last." THAT was what she responded to when she CHANGED HER MIND and said Harry could stay. (Confirmed on JKR's site.) We know Petunia sounded DISGUSTED about everything to do with the Wizarding World from EVERY reference to James and Lily, and she exaggerated about Lily going around "turning teacups into rats". We know she didn't have a knowing attitude about "Platform 9 3/4". We know Petunia knew that Dementors guard Azkaban, the wizard's prison. (She knows what a Dementor is, and Azkaban is.) What DOES it mean? I don't know either. I can make wild guesses. Thankfully, now she's in the home stretch, JKR has confirmed the last 2 books are essentially one book in two parts, and we'll start getting ANSWERS rather than MORE QUESTIONS.
  11. I'm going out on a limb here... Popeye?
  12. Neville Longbottom has a family tree of wizards. If he's the HBP, it's because of a meaning of the term that does NOT depend on "wizard vs Muggle" percentages. So, technically unlikely, but possible. Arguments can be made FOR or AGAINST him being the candidate. Colin Creevey and Dennis Creevey are brothers, and, as such, I consider them cancelling each other out (it's not 'Half-Blood PrinceS'.) ==== JKR's website is mostly accessed also from the "text only" version, which is easy to link to, and a fast loader. http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/welcome.cfm ===== Steve!, pm me if you don't want to reveal your suspicions. I've got a bunch myself. I also have a partial answer to JKR's question. She said the real question about that night in Godric's Hollow is not "why did Harry survive?" but "Why did Voldemort survive?" My personal hint is the word "ecdysis" and that's all I'm saying on an open thread. :D--> ==== Dudley was considered a suspect. Actually, JKR commented on a character developing magic at a later age, and a lot of people thought it was Dudley, but JKR stomped that flat. She pretty much confirmed he's "muggle Dudley". I can't find the link for that at this moment.
  13. Not only WOULD it be that movie, it IS that movie! Starring Gene Wilder as the rabbi from Poland who goes to San Francisco to serve a congregation lacking a rabbi, in the days of the Wild West. Along the way, he meets a bank-robber played by Harrison Ford. I think current standards would make this PG-13 at WORST. It's got comedy, it's got drama. I think of it more as a drama due to its approach. You can laugh at Avram, but he has YOUR respect by the end of the movie, or you have no heart. Go, Steve!
  14. No duh. I've been discussing it since the title was released. I want to see what the people HERE think. Most discussion groups I've been in on this are teenagers, and there's almost no teenagers here. Well, go out on a limb-take a wild guess. What would you guess is true about him?
  15. I'm operating under the assumptions that the HBP: A)will unite the Hogwarts Houses OR the wizarding world races (or BOTH) B)has already appeared C)is not a teacher or OotP member or other adult D)is a male E) has no brothers (otherwise there would be 'princes') Now, "half-blood" in HP has been used to refer to ALL wizards who are not "pureblood" (from a long line of wizards like Draco Malfoy or Ron Weasley) or "mudblood" (first generation wizard, like Hermione Granger) However, JKR MIGHT throw us a curveball and make this a "half-blood" of some other kind, as in "of 2 Bloodlines", like a descendant of Godric Gryffindor and Helga Hufflepuff or something. We KNOW that this was one working title for BOOK 2. JKR decided not to use the subplot there because it gave too much away, too soon. She also said that the moved subplot's only connection to the actual Book 2 is a "discovery Harry makes in Book 2." Me, I eliminate all "1/2 wizard, 1/2 giants" based on giant society. In Book 5, we see they don't like wizards, don't have royal bloodlines, and only respect physical strength. All of this means a 1/2 giant would be ignored as a weakling. He might be 1/2 Muggle (normal human), 1/2 elf, 1/2 goblin, 1/2 merfolk, 1/2 centaur. If he is one of those, he would bring "his people" to the new war. (I'm hoping he brings the goblins.) The most standard possibility is Seamus Finnegan, who has been around since Book One, but I have a much stranger candidate who's been around since Book 1. Who do you think he is, or WHAT do you think he is, and WHY? Please stop discussing this as soon as the new book is out.
  16. NO SPOILERS WHEN THE BOOK COMES OUT!!!!!!! "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" comes out in a few days. So, everyone's guessing... who is the 1/2 Blood Prince? JKR confirmed on her website it is NOT Harry, Voldemort or Tom Riddle, and at a book-signing (off-the-record) that it is not Hagrid. I'm operating on the assumption that it is a Male (a 'prince') with no brothers (otherwise 'princes'), not older than 20 (otherwise he overshadows the golden trio). Everything else is wide open. What do you think?
  17. If you want to address some of the more virulent anti-Catholic stuff, "the Babylon Connection?" is a good book you can find in Christian bookstores. It's by the same Ralph Woodrow that wrote "Babylon Mystery Religion" and is essentially "how my previous book was wrong." It's a must-read for anyone who read the previous book, or sat thru any teaching by lcm.
  18. Hm. I'm surprised you guys haven't gotten this yet. Someone once described it as the funniest R-rated movie ever made. It also had star power. Other quotes. "The shmendrick can go." "How many rabbis can say they had a bank-robber as a best man?" "...but He does not bring rain! *thunder sounds* But sometimes, just like THAT! *snaps fingers* He changes His mind!" "If you had gotten here yesterday, we could have had roast chicken!" For reasons which become clear about 1/2way thru the movie, one working title for this movie was 'No Knife'. Hm-I only included quotes which don't come up on Google, and everybody's baffled. No, I'm sure it's just that they haven't seen this movie in a while... or just seen the edited-for-television version, which changes a few of those quotes.
  19. Basically, all the scams involve getting someone to give up their bank account#, credit card#, PayPal#, or something similar. If you want to take a look at the current ones, just go to http://www.snopes.com and type "scam" in the search window.
  20. 9. Is 4 hours too long to spend composing a single post? Yes.
  21. Nope, neither a Stallone NOR a war/military film at all. Here's 2 more quotes. " Oy gevalt!" " 'Oy, she it!' That makes sense."
  22. Let's see..... "Would someone please show this poor @$$h**e the way out of town?"
  23. I got here first! That's from "DEMOLITION MAN"!
  24. So, again, karmicdebt left us at Ray Walston, then My Favorite Martian, and I linked here...
  25. Ahem. My Favorite Martian, the movie. Released 1999. Among the cast: RAY WALSTON as Armitan, and CHRISTOPHER LLOYD as Uncle Martin.
