CES and Momentous
WordWolf replied to caribousam's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
[WordWolf in boldface.] ] [caribousam, Yourself and a few others have the habit of wild accusations and distractions when legitimate charges are made of harmful practices at ces/stfi.] [Like unstable religious folk who must virulently attack any legitimate discourse that paints their denominationin a negative light.] [Thank you for confirming this was a standard practice-there's this "conspiracy of silence", one might go so far as to call it-from many participants of Momentus. As if they're hiding an esoteric religious ceremony from outsiders.] [And a religious requirement to fast for a week is good for some-like the obese-and not-so-good for others- those who were at a healthy weight. And rain is good for some people- like farmers having a drought- and not-so-good for others- those with too much rain. Leaving aside the general statements, the idea of a program that's good for some and HARMFUL for others (let's not pretend it isnt by using weasel-wording) that is PUSHED-like Momentus was (and IS even after all that)- is disturbing. And if you are not disturbed that someone's pushing for your fellow Christians- for whom Christ died- to enter a program that will damage some of them considerably, then SHAME ON YOU. SHAME ON YOU for caring so little for the well-being of the little children, the beloved brethren of all ages, the venerable elders. ] [Ah, there goes the special caveat. The program, once again, is not flawed. It's only for REAL Christians "who can handle it." vpw used the same excuse when he felt like yelling at people around grounds. What's next-claiming it's God's Will that Christians be pummelled with psychologically-crippling stress, and that's why it's in the program?] [Nice try taking back the caveat. However, we've seen it LOTS of times already, whenever someone rabidly defends this program. (Not every defender, just the rabid ones.) "The program works fine, but if the Christian is flawed, they may break under pressure." Find me a Christian, anywhere, who is not flawed. I don't even think you were aware you used the stock defense- otherwise you wouldn't have tried to take it back.] -
I didn't even get a chance to do the fun quotes... Yes, that was it. As to this one, I think it's "Symbiosis", the episode with the druggie planet and the dealer planet.
-
That was it. (Broke my usual rule about 1985-1986 because I figured it was famous enough.) Go!
-
No. And since I looked it up, I'm disqualified from guessing. But I can confirm that wasn't it.
-
Not the movie that contains BOTH quotes. Was that line really said in "Working Girl"?
-
So you don't want to know what "Add-Ons" we'd recommend for Firefox?
-
*looks it up* I think PB means the movie that also contains the line "You give me powders, pills, baths, injections, enemas; when all I need is love."
-
Well, if it's a toss-up, I'll post: "My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hon" (That's the song, not my own personal sentiments, mind...)
-
""The magnetic plasma guides are heating up." "They must've initiated the impulse prestart sequence." "What does that mean?" "It means this entire conduit is about to be filled with superheated plasma." "When you say superheated..." "Unless I can find another way out of here, we'll be vaporized. Is that clear enough?" "Crystal."
-
The usual "mail-client" for Firefox users is "Thunderbird." You might try that as well-I believe it's a stand-alone program, independent of Firefox.
-
Do you want us to start listing out favourite "Add-Ons" yet? One of Firefox's strengths is its customization level. It's easy to add a bunch of widgets that all all sorts of abilities....

May I recommend something? Both of you are normally a lot better than this recent exchange. May I suggest a little time away from the keyboard, maybe a brisk walk, and indulging in another activity before giving this a fresh look? It's done wonders for me when I get frustrated.. -
Was it "SCORPION"?
-
We could use another quote, a clue, or whether or not that was the correct answer....
-
Actually, wasway gave the correct song, and the correct name of an artist that performed it on a broadcast (or whose performance was later broadcast.) I'm not sure about Waysider's special provisos for that round, but it looked like WS agreed the answer was correct, eventually. (Maybe not.) I'd wait for Waysider to clarify. If Waysider wasn't being so specific, it would OBVIOUSLY be wasway's turn. Of course, if it IS wasway's turn, wasway can just cede his/her turn to you, and we move on. Just trying to stick to the few rules we have....

Heaven forbid someone should point out what the board is trying to hide, or that they should ask the hard questions... We're supposed to follow leaders off a cliff, not question their abilities to lead... Hm. The newspapers and news reports must be full of "gossipy chatter". Lots of us think before we hit the "reply" key. I daresay most of those posting news (or "gossipy chatter") want to work toward some real resolution- which is why they're refusing to bury the problems caused by ces/stfi leaders, policies and doctrines. -
I'm confident that most, if not all, of these "statistics" were entirely made-up. "90% believe in divine retribution?" That's more than double the polled number of those who believe in HEAVEN! Only 57% have had deja vu? I challenge that....

And if they ask to "borrow a rubber", they're not asking for a wake-up call, they're looking for an eraser. ========== This probably will be of no use to you, but might at least be interesting.... http://www.hp-lexicon.org/help/strictly_british1.html It's a lexicon of specifically British usages in the Harry Potter series.

Correct! I was saving that quote, and "Michael's going to be a lawyer of tomorrow!" "Oh? Well, welcome to the slammer of today!" Too easy, I take it.... Ok, let's see, next television show.... "We'd better hustle our butts!" Some episode involving a social worker. That phrase came up several times. Eventually, JJ got the social worker to say it. "If I do have hypertension, y'all gave it to me wit' all that nickin' and naggin' goin' on. Junior here's the only one who haven't got on my nerves. "That's because, one, I respect you, and two, I fear for my life." " I must give thanks to the good Lord above for giving us such a beautiful Christmas gift: a loving family and warm friends." Florida had her priorities straight. "Damn, Damn, DAMN!" Possibly the best-known quote. When James passed away, Florida had it completely together, until all their guests left. Then she allowed herself to actually respond. Very powerful moment. "Water? She aint drinkin' nothin' but the best from now on... Kool-Aid!" JJ was a big Kool-Aid fan. Go, Raf!

"Never mistake a slogan for a doctrine." -WordWolf. twi had/has plenty of cutesy sayings that have been inflated FAR out of all reasonable proportion...

EP, if you're tensing up, relax those muscles. :) I think all of us who've been here awhile have posted at least a few things they might have regretted later, whether for the content, or for the phraseology, the wording. If you stumbled like the rest of us, you'll manage like the rest of us. You should see what qualifies as "acceptable" in some of the REALLY contentious threads. :) -

The GSC is a general discussion board, primarily for twi and twi survivors. Some of those survivors are currently Christian, some are not. All are welcome to participate in the discussions. Politeness is requested and appreciated, and sometimes is even received! :) There's no doctrinal requirement for participation. Even CURRENT twi members are welcome to read and post here- so long as they follow the few rules and common courtesy expected on the average messageboard. Periodically, someone DOES get surprised that there are non-Christians here. However, many of them are courteous posters, and many posters who are NOT polite are Christians. There's no categorical requirement either way, it appears. I've found this is less of a shock for me, since I communicate with all sorts of people online, and there's no correlation between doctrine and manners. In fact, the most vicious attacks I've gotten online were from fellow Christians, for whom Christ died. Likewise, many of the most special communications I've received are from fellow Christians. We're not to withdraw ourselves entirely from the world-and it seems logical to me that this applies online as well as offline. It is said that travel broadens the mind, and I have found that it is so IMO. I will add that travelling ONLINE will likewise broaden the mind, if not so much and in so many ways as doing so OFFLINE. -
CORRECT! At least, that is the song, and one of the artists who did the song. I compared 3 versions of the lyrics when posting the quote. Those of you who ever saw the beginning of "Joe Versus the Volcano" heard this song make it into this section. Go, George!

"If you see me coming, better step aside- A lot of men didn't and a lot of men died. One fist of iron and the other of steel If the right one don't get you, then the left one will."
