Has this messageboard been replaced with a COURT OF LAW when I wasn't looking? People telling their personal stories, of things they've suffered-which is ONE of the purposes of the GSC- is, by definition, HEARSAY unless they caught the afflicter on videotape. Pawtucket has said, recently:
-
The GSC does not have to provide "equal time." The GSC IS "equal time." If one is looking for twi's POV, one can find it from twi whenever they want. Furthermore, ask THEM for the truth about any of the "allegations"- EVEN THE ONES ADMITTED TO IN A COURT OF LAW- and watch how far the answer deviates from "the truth" AS REPORTED IN A COURT OF LAW. Heck, lots of people CURRENTLY in still have not been told the truth of vpw's cause of death- and that's on his Death Certificate. They've spun-control admissions of guilt of lcm, and what the current President of their group knew before they were sued. In twi, there is NO HOPE to get the truth-especially if it's truth they don't LIKE.

Correct- when 3 Ferengi were called "Little Green Men". Quark's cousin Gaila owed him a ship, and finally dropped it off. Quark gave Nog a lift to Earth to begin at Starfleet Academy (with some smuggled kemacite). When Gaila's bomb blew out the warp controls, Rom jury-rigged an exit from warp using the kemacite- and they ended up crashing near Roswell in 1947. On the way to Earth, Nog was reviewing his gift from Miles and Julian- a databank padd with all sorts of Earth history and information on it. When he was skimming past the Bell Riots, he noticed the picture looked just like Benjamin Sisko- which makes sense, since Sisko had replaced Bell accidentally in a previous episode. Raf's turn!

I had a rule like that somewhere that helped me narrow down guesses. Those specific lines are easy to remember if you're a Led Zeppelin fan, or a fan of JRR Tolkien ("Lord of the Rings"), or, if both, VERY easy to remember. Mordor's the bad-guy territory in LotR/"Middle-Earth", Gollum was the previous holder of the "One Ring", still seeking to hold his "precioussss" again. When they wrote the song, the books were popular, but, IIRC, there were no movies yet, not even the cartoons. (Yes, I can research it online, but I don't care enough at the moment.)

These are not quotes from that TWO-PARTER, neither from Part I nor Part II.

I send pm's from time to time, but most of them have NOTHING to do with the GSC or twi or whatever. I just don't feel like sharing all my personal stuff with the entire internet. Some of us, BTW, are still playing the game-threads, which are social. They're certainly not about twi....
-
Ok, the next one, let's see.... "The ship... It's here. " 1:"Father, have you ever heard of the Bell Riots?" 2:"Don't bother me now." 1:"But doesn't this Gabriel Bell human look just like Captain Sisko..." 3:"All humans look alike."
-
Correct! Your turn on 2 threads, apparently. Hope you have 2 songs...

Well, technically, she IS his first, whether or not there ever is a second, but it's a cute little leg-pull. I'm happy for him, and hope they had a great time.

I don't think it SHOULD, but that's how it ends up.....

Ah, a U-2 song! That's "DESIRE!" (Got it once I extended the line to the next line- "She's a promise in the year of election.") Probably too easy, this one. "Twas in the darkest depths of Mordor I met a girl so fair. But Gollum, and the Evil One crept up And slipped away with her."

One shot, one hit! (Ever consider sniper training?) You got the clues exactly as given. One episode, the kids decided to take some martial arts training, and answered an ad posted in Arnold's, for a martial arts class by Matsuo Takahashi. "Arnold" shows up to teach it, and they're shocked he's supposedly Matsuo Takahashi. Richie insisted his name was 'Arnold'. "Well, why did you call the restaurant 'Arnold's?" "Who called it 'Arnold's?' When I bought it, there was a HUGE sign that said 'Arnold's'!" So, he just left the name and signs in place, and just got used to people calling him 'Arnold', which, actually, was a pretty smart idea, since they were already USED to 'Arnold's. 'Arnold', of course, was played by Pat Morita, who played about 1/2 of the Asians on television back then. He demonstrated one martial arts move-that loose throw he uses in Karate Kid 3. Small surprise, since Pat Morita NEVER TOOK MARTIAL ARTS LESSONS and freely admitted to relying on 'acting' when doing fight scenes. So, apparently, he only HAS the one move.

Good for you. Some people in twi were singled out by name in a meeting-whether present or not- and humilated, most commonly by vpw or lcm. Those were one form of personal attack. I think you're not using the term "personal attack" like most people use it..... There is a difference between forgiving someone, and putting them in a position to hurt you again, otherwise, you'd do the "Christian thing" and go back to twi for some more ill treatment at their hands. And people here ARE speaking truth with one another, AND it's comforting to some. It's just not the PARTICULAR truth you WANT them to speak. Some OTHER people need to hear it. Why do we have to defend "speaking the truth" to you? It's "speaking the truth"! If you compare the abuse and humilation dealt out by twi on one hand, and the sometimes inflammatory posts on the gsc on the other hand, it's pretty obvious which is a "personal attack." At worst, GSCers VENT, but rarely do they "personally attack" twi'ers. You can't "PERSONALLY" attack an ORGANIZATION, for that matter.

A number of people have arrived, interacted, decided they accomplished everything they needed to accomplish, and then left. A number of people have arrived, interacted, decided they didn't feel like sticking around anymore, and then left. In both cases, I say that's great! The first is a GSC success story. The second is a GSC'er thinking for themself. I miss some posters, but, you know, life takes time to do right.
-
Ok, let's see, next one... "So how did you do on that social studies test?" "I missed that question on Alaska. I hear they want to make it a state now." "That'll never happen." "I've still got it!" "YOU'RE Matsuo Takahashi?"

Episode III:Revenge of the Sith Jimmy Smits Running Scared

Ok, the blankets was sort-of a giveaway. This is the ST:TNG episode where they spend time with the Bajorans the first time around, looking for a spokesperson from them for negotiations with the Cardassians on the Maquis or something. To do this, they transferred in Ensign Ro (Ro Laren) to the Enterprise. I think this was the character's introduction, and it was called "Ensign Ro." (IIRC, the first time we discovered family names come first for Bajorans, thus "Major Kira" is a title and family name, and "Nerise" is a personal name.)

I honestly think vpw was too lazy to join any secret society. He always took shortcuts to get anywhere in his "career". Organizations have demands on your time-he wanted "no strings" connections that he could use without giving anything back. (That's how he organized the programs, in case you didn't notice.) So, getting propaganda from the John Birch Society without actually joining it was fine for him. The closest things to a secret society's trapping was that prank "initiation" thing with the robes and the horseradish. However, his inner cadre of people "in" on the sex, molestations, rapes, and so on DID function something like a secret society running twi. It just didn't have the trappings, the symbolism, of one.

Might ask Paw that DIRECTLY instead of posting it publickly on a thread and waiting to see if he happens to read that particular post... ...unless you were less interested in an answer and more interested in bringing it up in public....

As opposed to the "run-of-the-mill" Yokozuna. Isn't "yokozuna" something like the title "world champion"? Must be hard to be an EXTRAORDINARY one....

Correct! The name, IIRC, is "Peak Performance." I'm hazy on the spelling, but Starfleet finally decided to get serious and do some war-games. (About time!) Riker's crew got the derelict USS Hathaway spaceworthy-although it was unable to fire phasers or use the warp-drive (there were a few fragments of dilithium crystal, but no plasma to fuel it.) After being told to improvise, Wesley "discarded" his recent science experiment by beaming it aboard the Hathaway, which gave them a little plasma for the warp-drive. Zakdornian observer Sirna Kolrami didn't take him seriously, so he got away with it. Data, meanwhile, had trouble accepting a loss at a game didn't mean he was flawed-but later, changed the conditions he played for- which meaned Kolrami threw the match, leaving in frustration from the stalemate. In other words, Data busted him up. :) I'm a fan of strategic considerations in episodes, and liked seeing Riker and Worf get their crew and ship going. I also agree that the Zakdornian reputation counts for nothing if it's not tested in military conditions. Kolrami was convinced Riker was a poor officer just because he was personable- but Riker succeeded in getting his crew to "do the impossible" and do a warp-jump. Not to mention simulate a Romulan warbird attack- which meant the Enterprise was in trouble when it ignored the next "simulation"-a Ferengi Marauder- which was quite real and just passing through. Reminds me of one of Murphy's Rules of War: "that feint you are ignoring is the enemy's main attack." I also loved the exchange when Riker asked Kolrami what the word for 'mismatch' was. Kolrami, when he said that the opponent in the superior position is expected to win, gave Picard an odd look, as if accusing him of being unable to win despite his spoken comments about Riker not having a real chance. Somewhere, I have my Star Trek: Collectible Card Game cards, including one for Kolrami. (I had Riker, Data, Kolrami, but not Worf. Oh, well....) Meanwhile, it's Cindy's turn.
