  1. *shakes aluminum foil into a microphone* "Riders On the Storm", by the Doors.
  2. "One man on the couch. Reading." "A literate burgler? How refreshing." "Well who is it? The President? *laughs* " "*laughs* No, sir. It's the Governor." "Who is this again?" "This is Muerte." "Oh, hi, Morty." "No! No Morty! MUERTE! DEATH!" "Yeah, okay, right death..." "You're under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right you may talk, sing, dance, impersonate Elvis or anything else you like. You have the right to an attorney. If you're broke and can't afford one, tough sh*! Now get in the car you suspected felon you!" "Darling, do the oysters come with guns?"
  3. Carlos Santana with Rob Thomas (of Matchbox 20), "Smooth".
  4. Obviously a native English speaker. So, I'll take a stab and say "William Tyndale."
  5. I will. Give me a minute.... "One man on the couch. Reading." "A literate burgler? How refreshing." "Well who is it? The President? *laughs* " "*laughs* No, sir. It's the Governor."
  6. You left out mine- that the methodology used bypasses "the will of the people." Supposedly, we live in a democratic republic. That is, we democratically elect officials to act, supposedly according to our wishes, to represent us and make decisions. In matters of national law, issues are brought to national referendums, and voted on democratically by the people. In other cases, issues are voted on by our representatives in Congress. The highest law of the land is the US Constitution. Someone earlier claimed that rights to vote for women, blacks, and so on were matters where this system was ALSO bypassed, that judges "legislated from the bench" and that's how everyone got the right to vote. Perhaps my knowledge of history is flawed, but no judicial decision of the JUDICIAL branch of government can form a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT, which is strictly the purview of the LEGISLATIVE branch. The 15th Amendment said race, color, and previous condition of servitude could not be used to prevent a citizen from voting. (That meant all male US citizens could vote. The 14th Amendment made it clear who was a citizen.) The 19th Amendment granted female US citizens the right to vote. ===== If the citizens of California voted and said "we want to legally require all citizens to wear cucumbers up our noses and spam on our heads", and passed it with a 2/3 majority, I say "the people have spoken! They shall wear spam and cucumbers!" I DISapprove of the JUDICIAL branch stealing the powers of the LEGISLATIVE branch. (For that matter, I DISapprove of the Executive branch doing it, but that's off-topic.)
  7. No static at all. Your turn, bfh.
  8. "Nothing but blues and Elvis And somebody else's favorite song"
  9. I missed the news reports on this one. Since this is an issue that effects a LOT of things legally, including where tax dollars go, this is an issue that affects everyone in that state. Was this placed on the ballot as a referendum and voted on by the people as a whole? Or was this something one or more judges decided by themselves?

  11. I can't be a rock-and-roll star, because I can't write deep lyrics like they do... "Woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head. Found my way downstairs and had a cup, And looking up, I noticed I was late. Found my coat, and grabbed my hat, Made the bus in seconds flat...." "A Day in the Life," by the Fab Four, those guys from Liverpool with the moptop hair. Ever listen to that last note until it ends? It goes on for more than 2 minutes unless interrupted!
  12. TLB, the LAST THREE IN A ROW were answered by you. We can overlook doing it ONCE, but you're DELIBERATELY not playing by the rules. And we don't have many rules. Basically, it's "don't look up the answer when you're trying to guess, and if you look it up, you can't answer", and "the person who gets it right posts the next one." All you have to do is pick a television show, and -from memory or from looking it up online- find some quotes from it, and post them, either longer quotes, or more shorter ones in sets, with later quotes being more obvious. If you're going to play, please play BY THE RULES like the rest of us. You can see the rules are pretty painless....
  13. "As you brush your shoes and stand before the mirror, And you comb your hair and grab your coat and hat"
  14. Douglas Adams is correct. And IMHO, Linux has since taken the top 10% of the market, or much of it. And wrote the Hitchhikers Guide series. The quote about the universe being a bad idea is from the first page.
  15. I think THIS was the reason it mattered to us, because I think it's at least PART of the reason it mattered to vpw.
  16. Not even close. "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family Anatidae on our hands." "So you can imagine what happens when a mainland species gets introduced to an island. It would be like introducing Al Capone, Genghis Khan and Rupert Murdoch into the Isle of Wight - the locals wouldn't stand a chance." "A learning experience is one of those things that say, 'You know that thing you just did? Don't do that.'" "The simple truth is that interstellar distances will not fit into the human imagination." "In the beginning the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move." "He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife." "Getting a movie made in Hollywood is like trying to grill a steak by having a succession of people coming into the room and breathing on it." "I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer." "I wrote an ad for Apple Computer: 'Macintosh - We might not get everything right, but at least we knew the century was going to end.'"
  17. "As you brush your shoes and stand before the mirror"
  18. To use air compression to run a car, you need to compress the air first. That's where the kinetic energy in the system comes from. That means you put the energy in the system in the first place. That works as well as rechargeable cars, and THOSE aren't the solution EITHER.
  19. I am unable to accept this as THE Answer, and not just one possibility, because it fails to answer ALL questions on the subject. Specifically, it offers no explanation for Genesis 3:22-24, and the Tree of Life, and living forever. If the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is one body part or sex act, then by the same reasoning, the Tree of Life would have to be another. If so, moving both people who committed the FIRST sex act/ interacted with the body part would have done nothing to prevent "eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" (under your answer, it would have done nothing to prevent it) and they're moved to prevent eating from the Tree of Life, and the mover (God) is at least as smart as I am, then moving them makes no sense, even if I don't know EXACTLY what the ToL is meant to refer to. It can't be another PERSON, since there WAS no other person. (You and I agree on this.) Sex act with an angel would enable them to live forever? Sorry, I can write it down, but it just sounds silly. Therefore, I await an INTERNALLY-CONSISTENT answer to all questions. No matter how you slice it, I classify the sin as "rebellion", and think "High Treason" is not incorrect no matter WHO said it-or relayed it. I can deal with "I don't know the SPECIFIC sin" since I don't NEED to know it. And since I don't actually know it.
  20. Hello, and welcome. You're welcome to read here all you want, and to post here as you wish. Please maintain good manners when posting. Most of us try to do the same. The freedom to disagree makes this a refreshing change from twi and all ex-twi movements I'm familiar with. The internet allows for a LOT of freedom of speech opportunities that twi survivors may not expect. The GSC is a logical extension of that. And a place a lot of us are very fond of. (I'm even free to end sentences with prepositions like that.) :) Enjoy your stay.
  21. Hello. When you're posting, the symbols for closing what you want the post to look like have to be at the END of what you're posting, so you have to move them there. I moved them there in this quote so you can see what that looks like, and because you wanted your post to look like it.
  22. Totally serious. One painting. lcm went from there to "the devil shaped himself into a woman, and had sex with Eve, then they had a threesome with Adam. To do this, lcm had to redefine a lot of words in Genesis 3, like a word for "look" , and redefine another word to "fountain", then redefine it from THERE.... By the time he was done, it made NO SENSE. So, the class is sitting there, thinking "that made no sense." lcm's reply-which is emblematic of his approach? "You don't see it? Too bad-I do." And, of course, lcm saw it, twi teaches it. When people asked about it, they were told some twi people were looking into it. When they later ASKED those people, they said they didn't bother- the board signed off on it, that was good enough. Some later live teachings include disclaimers of different types at this section. I SWEAR I'm not making this up. There's threads in the GSC. Let me know if you need help finding them.
