"You know the Rules of Acquisition?" "I am a graduate of Starfleet Academy. I know many things." "That's one." "I believe she was killed by a remat detonator -- a device programmed to scramble a transporter beam during rematerialization. They're typically no more than two cubic millimeters in size, so it may have been hidden in her clothes or even injected under her skin." "That device is typically used by the Romulans. However, they're also sold on the black market." "She was always so afraid... afraid that she'd be caught and executed. But she never stopped. I once told her I thought she was braver than the rest of us, because she had to live with fear every day." "That's two." "That's three." "It doesn't sound natural." "No kidding." "I mean, I know they're using some kind of scrambler to disguise the voice, but there's something else the rhythms don't sound natural... more like a composite of words from different speeches put together." "You can tell that through all the distortion? "It's the lobes. The intonation and phrasing are just slightly off." "I make it a policy never to argue with someone's lobes." "Okay... let's say these are composite messages. Does that help us?" "Maybe. Since the first word in all three messages is the same, let's assume that it's simply been copied three times. That gives me a reference to begin screening out the electronic interference."

"I'm glad I have someone looking out for me." "I'm looking out for ME. You punch really hard during those bad dreams." "What happens to these people in their last moments, it really matters." "Have you ever heard of a antique-related emergency?" "Um, uh, no." "You run an antique shop in Grandview, isn't that right?" "Yes." "And you're an amateur psychiatrist in your off hours?" "I'm beginning to feel like a travel agent who's never been on a plane." "Was that a date?" "Did it feel like a date?" "Well, she left before dinner arrived, so, roughly, I'd say yes." "I've seen them weep for joy, I've felt their peace. You just have to have a little faith, it's that simple. You're not alone, and all of this was meant to be and the only thing I know for sure is that there is love there, love like you have never known here and you can't just turn away from that." "What if she doesn't remember me?" "I've never given birth but from what I've heard it's not something you forget." "I feel like I'm living in a John Carpenter film."

No. Not even close. (Neither were George's guesses, for that matter.)

No. Looks like I was right.

In ONE respect, the KJV has an advantage- the italics indicate where the translators admit they added words. In other respects, the KJV has disadvantages- despite it being updated since 1611, it's not based on any of the documents uncovered in the 20th century, which many versions ARE. Also, the phraseology, the wording, is not only ARCHAIC, it's INCONSISTENT. The New King James Version is a slight improvement over the KJV, and I recommend it be used in place of the KJV, period. Furthermore, the New American Standard Bible (version) is more modern than either (is based on more recent documents), is not archaic, and is more CONSISTENT in its translation (word "A" usually translates into word "1" and not words "1" or "2" or "3" or "4" depending on the occurrences. Therefore, the NASB, as I see it, is the Bible of choice for those who are serious about their translations, AND like the italics. Sadly, other than the Watchtower Society's version, they're the only ones with any kind of marker like that. The NIV isn't bad. It offers the modern language and the later documents, but doesn't have the italics. That makes it a toss-up against the KJV. (If it had the italics, it would be superior beyond argument.) However, vpw often based things on the phraseology of the KJV in ENGLISH rather than going back to the older languages- even when it was obvious with a little work that his claims were WRONG. Then again, try and correct vpw or claim he was sloppy to twi'ers and see how far you get...

It is not. I am positing that this one- despite NOT being obscure- will be a little tough for the current guessers.

He actually said they weren't approaching "nerds?" What an idiot! Who did he think would be running the country? The current US President is an unquestionable nerd! twi would have given a great deal, say, to get Bill Gates or Steve Wozniak on board. Between being able to leverage their credibility (twi did that with pro athletes a number of times) and tap them for lots and lots of money, it would have been their dream come true. Then again, nerds THINK FOR THEMSELVES and aren't afraid to go "left" when the herd is all going "right". twi was SCARED to recruit new people who could THINK FOR THEMSELVES and see what a fragile house of cards they had. "We don't want the nerds, we want the people with money." Only those as stupid as twi management could so easily dismiss the nerds with money as nonexistent. twi wanted to pretend it was more "godly" to recruit only the people who looked good on a recruiting poster- but did Jesus Christ come only for the photogenic? The outcasts and the oddballs have a long, proud tradition across the Bible, from left-handed commandos to poets and musicians, to the people nobody expected much of because they were "least in their father's households", to too short, to tax collectors and lawyers, and even mothers-in-law.

I'm not convinced it was ALL bogus. I think some of it was legitimate. (Mostly when coupled with interpretations in some times I can recall, but there's other stuff I won't get into.) On the other hand, vpw seemed to fake it a lot- every single public time he claimed to SIT, it was the SAME SYLLABLES. "Lo shanta mala ka sito la SHONTA." Either God is incredibly repetitive, or vpw was a fake and an unimaginative one. I have other proof of the later, so.....

The really inane thing about it is that "present truth" appears as a phrase in the KJV Bible, but they've applied what they refer to as "private interpretation" to it! 2 Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. This isn't talking about truth NOW, since truth is truth, and does not change with opinion. It's talking about the truth that's HERE- the truth is PRESENT! You don't need to hunt for it- here it is! (One of our posters pointed this out YEARS AGO. Naturally, they're still teaching it INCORRECTLY rather than admit a mistake.) But lcm (who was made "head of the research dept") did something vpw was fond of doing- focusing on King James Version English, then forming a teaching or doctrine around something without ever seeing if the Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic/Syriac matched what he said. Here's the same verse in different versions. The New International Version. 2 Peter 1:12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. New American Standard. 2 Peter 1:12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. Contemporary English Version. 2 Peter 1:12 You are holding firmly to the truth that you were given. But I am still going to remind you of these things. English Standard Version. 2 Peter 1:12 Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have.

Remember the audience has shrunk for the games. A lot fewer people log in nowadays. -
I knew they weren't quotes from TNG or DS9. I figured they were PROBABLY TOS (which they were.) Then I saw "drill thrall" and "train." So, there's training for combat. TOS didn't have a "hot war", so that would be training but not for a war- meaning someone's private combat. That made the most likely candidate "Gamemasters of Triskelion."

TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa business has been flooded with hateful e-mails and phone calls after a misleading story aired on a cable news network. The story outraged viewers across the country, claiming religious activities had been banned from Tulsa's government housing complexes. The company being blamed for a ban on the words God or Christ says it's not true. "It was just a big misunderstanding," said Youth At Heart Director Jocelyn McCarver. Employees at Tulsa's "Youth at Heart" say misunderstanding or not, they're now dealing with hateful e-mails and phone calls. A story that aired on Fox News Channel said Youth at Heart, who provides recreational activities for Tulsa Housing Authority properties, wouldn't allow religious activities there. That got lots of folks riled up. "Well, most of the emails have been from people out of state. So, I guess they're looking at Fox News. So, they're not supporting us anyways," said Youth At Heart Director Jocelyn McCarver. But, religious activities are allowed on the properties. They just have to be scheduled through the residents themselves, not through the housing authority or its subcontractors. A statement from the Tulsa Housing Authority shows it's a federally funded agency and therefore does not directly sponsor religious activities on its sites. They refer religious organizations to schedule those with resident associations. "We're not banning Child Evangelism. We're not banning the use of the name of Jesus or God," said Youth At Heart Director Jocelyn McCarver. Fox News Channel picked the story up after a religious group, Child Evangelism Fellowship, talked to the Tulsa Beacon newspaper. "First of all we were quite shocked because we've been going to these housing complexes with this group for 20 plus years," said Larry Koehn with Child Evangelism Fellowship. It wasn't until after the story hit the national airwaves and after millions of Americans were outraged they discovered they were wrong and that the whole issue was a simple misunderstanding. "I need to be sure I know all my facts before I start talking to the news media and that I keep control of the situation for the sake of our ministry and for everyone involved," said Larry Koehn with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Child Evangelism Fellowship will continue to provide its religious activities at Tulsa Housing Authority properties.

A search just now on this story still shows 2 sources. 1) Fox News. 2) http://www.kxmc.com/News/Nation/387998.asp "Disclaimer: This article is a blog post and does not represent the views or opinions of Reiten Television, KXNet.com, its staff and associates and is wholly owned by the user who posted this content.
