  1. That's what I was going for. Apparently, I didn't think the clue through enough, since it COULD have referred to some of the other guesses. This really is not my thread. Ok, Raf, take it away.
  2. "I don't know what she sees in him." "She must be into fungus." "What makes you so sensitive? She's never been anything but nice to you." "Yeah she even used to me to make what's-his-name jealous." "She doesn't even LIKE what's-his-name!" "Yeah I couldn't really tell, by the way their faces we're stuck together at that country club." "Oh, that's right. You didn't stick around for the um... exciting conclusion." "Oh what was that- his hand on her @$$?" "Her right hook, you think she sprained her wrists doing her nails?" "She hit him?" "An understatement."
  3. No. Although now it's been mentioned, I suppose "Over The Hedge" might be considered a correct answer. If nobody gets the one I meant, I'll pass it to George.
  4. Never actually saw the movie, so I have no opinion on that. Ok, next movie... Forced to move, they end up trying life in the big city.
  5. *laughs* Damn dirty simians! I think this is "Planet of the Apes." And I actually have one for this thread if I'm right!
  6. Ok, now that we have properly separated quotes we can read, I'll answer. This one's "Yellow Submarine." Those were quotes regarding the Sea of Time.
  7. Well, ok, there WERE those people, too. For the most part, vpw isolated his lies from the GENERAL public. The people who heard his lies were generally already in twi at least a few years, and less likely to even CONSIDER he was lying. However, some DID catch him. In TW:LiL, we see him documented telling the lie about the Tulsa blizzard that never happened. When a twi researcher went to document the blizzard, they discovered the only "evidence" of one was vpw saying so. When that was brought to his attention, he didn't say "check again, I was there, there was a blizzard, look harder at the weather reports, check your dates", etc. IMMEDIATELY, he jumped to "Well, angels must have been telling me there was one, so I thought there was one because I had angels lying to me." Might as well ask why no one confronted him on that. They did, he just made up a bigger lie to cover the first one. That's vpw's criminal MO. When caught, make up a bigger lie. That's why he molested and raped women and spread the big lie that God was ok with it, and actually WANTED it.
  8. *laughs* We've/you've been at this since the 1990s, and NOW you're finally looking at the issue "Was vpw a doctor or not?" At this rate, an honest look at the Doctrinal problems won't be approached until after you're in your 90s. Ok, let's answer this, since you asked. 1) He wasn't a REAL doctor. He had a "doctorate" from an unaccredited institution. It has all the authority of MY "doctorates". (I asked for mine specifically because of this issue.) Since I have 3 "doctorates" from unaccredited institutions, I, apparently, am triple the "doctor" that vpw is- but not ONCE have you ever addressed ME as "Doctor WordWolf" despite that. However, like REAL PhD holders, I usually just use my name and not any title, even when checking into hotels or signing my name or being introduced as a guest speaker. If you consider vpw "a real doctor", then in fairness, you have to consider EVERYONE who has an unaccredited PhD to be every bit the "doctor" he was. Frankly, the people who put in the time at the ACCREDITED institutions (we have a few posting here NOW at the GSC, for example) are much MORE Drs than us fakes. You may note that they don't insist on being called "Dr" either. 2) "He had tons of enemies when he was alive." According to vpw, he needed armed bodyguards around him because there were people who were trying to kill him. As early as TW:LiL (and IN that book), he said they'd tried to kill him TWICE- then immediately changed the subject and refused to provide even the slightest details. After a conversational bombshell like that, the most obvious reason to change the subject is if you're lying through your teeth. ANYONE would want to know more once that was said. When he was alive, most people had never HEARD of him. twi'ers had heard of him, as had ex-twi'ers. Most of the people who opposed him fell into a few categories. A) Ex-twi'ers who wanted to get on with their lives. They mostly tried to ignore him. B) Family members and loved ones of the women he molested and/or raped. Those that existed, he did his best to subvert by making the women out to be liars and destroy their selves so they were shattered wrecks who were in no condition to TELL their loved ones. He succeeded very well in that endeavor most vile. C) Christians with contrary doctrine. Most Christians had never HEARD of him. When a Christian DID hear of him, what they heard was there was this crackpot who teaches against the Trinity and against soul-sleep, but isn't a Jehovah's Witness. They all focused entirely on that. The flatly ridiculous claims were never looked at. They were looking at a man teaching doctrine they didn't like, so the addressed the DOCTRINE. Lacking the internet, few even THOUGHT to question his credentials. If he claimed to be a "doctor", some school presumably gave him a PhD, which was a lesser matter to them. For that matter, with internet access, it's not hard to expose his imaginary snowstorm in Tulsa as a complete fabrication. However, most people thought of him as a doctrinal heretic, and approached him accordingly. If they'd known he was an ecclesiastical fraud, they would have approached him differently. D) Deprogrammers. They just wanted cash, and focused on his doctrine also. So, that's why they "didn't use that more." twi, as an organization, operated fairly underground, off the radar. twi's books never appeared in libraries- unless a twi'er donated any. Christian bookstores were never given the chance to CARRY twi books even if they wanted to. "I really don't care what might have been at stake that he was or wasn't a doctor." I call "shenanigans" on that. You still CALL him "Doctor", even though his only "doctorate" was granted by an organization with no more authority to grant a "doctorate" than YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET. And real "doctors" rarely insist on their title, unlike the FAKE who insisted on it all the time- while denigrating the educational institutions that grant degrees in Religious Studies. The net result is that he's granted a title he didn't earn and given the appearance of an authority figure- and all people who actually EARNED one don't count. I mean, DON earned a real PhD from an ACCREDITED institution. However, whenever he heard "Doctor Wierwille" said around him, it was NEVER about HIM and ALWAYS about the man who never EARNED the real thing. vpw was exposed as a fraud over a decade ago, in front of you at the GSC, and you STILL call him "Doctor." You darn well DO care. At least be honest with us even if you're going to lie to yourself. The evidence is conclusive that he was never a REAL "doctor." Anyone who says "he was a real doctor", anyone who says "maybe he was a real doctor, maybe he wasn't", and anyone who says "I don't care if he was a real doctor" who still calls him "Doctor Wierwille" in any context is hiding from the truth, lying to themselves and others, and probably delusional.
  9. Yeah, those 24-hour days would get to me too...can't blame time.
  10. I think the word "pathetic" is a bit overly harsh. I would agree that it's "tragic" or "sad." Then again, we can't affect what reminds you of what, no matter how tragic or sad it is that you're making unconnected connections in your head. Confusing disrespect to a sitting US President-but still being grammatically correct- is nothing like people freaking out because a man with an unaccredited degree isn't addressed by his unofficial degree. It IS grammatically correct to refer to both as "Mister", and is not incorrect. It is NOT required to insist on a title for either, and unaccredited, unofficial titles don't count for most people in just about ANY context. In fact, most LEGITIMATE PhDs are not pedantic about using their titles. In my high school, all or almost all the teachers had PhDs, and only ONE out of the entire SCHOOL went around calling himself "DOCTOR." And I remember another teacher pointedly referring to him as "Mister." (Actually, there WAS a second, but he was retired, worked as a substitute teacher, and seemed a touch senile.)
  11. *thinks* Ok, Jbarrax has it- he said "Death Race", which is the name of the current movie. It was thought of as a sort-of prequel or a sequel to the original Death Race 2000, depending on who you ask. Carradine's voice was used at the beginning of this one for Frankenstein before his fatal crash- which was a reference to the previous flick. So, it's his turn now. (Jbarrax, not Carradine.)
  12. Possibly you guys can put together what you DO know, and maybe someone will get the title. Some of you might have seen it, others might have seen the "original" a few decades before. I mean, any movie with a Carradine in it is hardly THAT obscure...
  13. vpw was granted a doctorate from an UNACCREDITED INSTITUTION. To paraphrase Al Franken on this subject, "They have as much authority to grant a degree as Schlotsky's Deli does!" Legally, they were ALLOWED to do so. And the title is worth the breath it takes to pronounce it. legally, ANYONE can issue a Doctorate which is equally worthless. That's why I have THREE Doctorates, all of which are equally worthless to vpw's, which, possibly, makes me triple the "doctor" he ever was. (For those who missed it some time ago, "Doctor WordWolf" has been granted Doctorates in the fields of Theology, Bible Truths, and Using Boldface Type To Make His Posts Easier To Read. That was all done at the GSC. And it's all just as legal as vpw's "doctorate" with no less legal authority than his had.) vpw himself made a big deal if anyone called him "MISTER wierwille" despite that being legally correct and proper. I heard others typically call him "Doctor" as if that was his name, with no reference as to which "Doctor", as if there's only one. It's like saying "Elvis" and expecting everyone else to know you meant "Presley" and not, say, "Costello". I called him "Doc" typically (which still supposed he had a PhD), and it seemed to offend and shock QUITE a number of people.
  14. A bit over 5 years ago it was about 3000 including children. twi tries very hard to hide their LACK of numbers and how many members they have hemorrhaged over the last 2 decades or so. Since they were at 3000, they have remained at "negative population growth." That means that the numbers keep going down. They continue to have members die off (they can't help that) and leave (they would have fewer if they were a respectable organization) while very few people join (word gets around your group is no good) and kids that grow up in twi often leave (some do, some don't.) The handful of kids who remain are hardly equal to the numbers who leave or die, and the members can't AFFORD to have large numbers of children to replace the numbers. Of course, twi has actively DISCOURAGED followers from having children. The time and money spent raising a child is time and money twi won't see, so they say not to do it..... then they wonder why they don't have a lot of kids growing up to be members. Only the top cadre are encouraged to have kids- kids who are supported through excellent schools while they tell the followers to send their kids to the cheapest schools (if they HAD kids) and to try to get family members who never joined twi to PAY for it. So, somewhere less than 3000, and falling. And the numbers will NEVER turn UP again. twi's cadre is just delaying action while they siphon off all the money and comfort they can from twi WHILE they can.
  15. "Man, what is this supposed to be?" "Oatmeal... I think." "Man, how do you f*** up oatmeal?" "Someone once asked me if I was the best future for my little girl. I've thought about this for long time, and here's what I've decided: No one in this world is perfect. Heaven knows I'm not. But I love her more than anyone else possibly could. In the end, that's all that matters." "Now that's entertainment." "Cash or check?" Better make it cash. Three hundred dollars? I've worked a hundred and twenty hours in the last two weeks." "Cash fee. Next!" "Cash fee?" "You wanted cash, there's a fee. You want a check instead?" "Seeing as how the company's out of business, not exactly." "What does little Piper want? Do you want a story? You know you won't understand it, but it'll be good practice for me." "So what are you in for?" "They say I killed a cop." "Did you do it?" "Yeah." "Bad cop?" "Good cop... lousy husband." "14K. First generation Chinese-American, tenth generation Triad. His father sent him to business school, and he's the only man in here who holds a degree from MIT. He's killed four men off the track..." "That we know of." "...another seven on it." "Hector Grimm, the Grimm Reaper. The man's a master. Clinical psychopath. Three time consecutive life sentences. He's killed six men off the track, another twelve on it." "You've already met the local chapter of the Brotherhood. Their driver, Pachenko, has killed nine men on the track. Nobody knows how many off." "Don't talk to the other drivers. Frank never did. Part of the mystique. Let the mask do the work." "You wanted a monster? Well, you've got one." "This prison is the home to murderers, rapists, and violent offenders of every kind. The United States Penal System sends me the worst of the worst. But the men you've provoked, well, let's just say Mr. Ames that the life term you've joined us for may be a lot shorter than you think." "This is a race! You don't go backwards! And you don't get out of the car!" "Release the Dreadnought." "A man so disfigured by crashes that he's forced to wear a mask. His return to the track is highly anticipated, and therein lies my problem. No one knows yet, but poor Frank died on an operating table not long after his last race. Anyone can wear the mask, but not just anyone can drive the car. You have the skills required to keep the legend alive. I want you to become Frankenstein." "No thanks. He's dead. Why don't you just tell the truth?" "The audience wants to see Frank again. He moves them. Inspires them. And in this world that's not easy to come by." "What makes you think for a second I would risk my life doing this for you?" "Win five races, you go free. Those are the rules, and Frank has won four. Win one more, you walk. Call it intuition, but I don't think you belong in here with the rest of these animals." "I might surprise you." "The race is Friday, and I need your decision. You're a skilled driver. You're chances are good. I'm offering you your freedom, Mr. Ames. If it's not worth risking your life for, what is?" "You sure are lucky a driver like me just happened to turn up in your prison when I did." "Oh, I'm more than lucky. I'm blessed. Sometimes it's like the right hand of God is sitting on my shoulder."
  16. "Man, what is this supposed to be?" "Oatmeal... I think." "Man, how do you f*** up oatmeal?" "Someone once asked me if I was the best future for my little girl. 19. So, vpw set up the only formal training as (sometimes) who ran the LEAD program (Christian leaders with no counseling skills, but they could climb rocks and hitch-hike) but not always (some LEAD groups were lead by woefully unprepared people, which is why at least 1 group went up a mountain in freezing, unsafe weather, which was the direct cause of one of them losing a toe, and that's not counting the rapes and deaths resulting from the hitch-hiking... or the training done by the Dale Carnegie organization- but run for free by one of their trainers at vpw's request, thus robbing them of their proper tuition for their formal program, year after year. Again, I say, vpw sure knew how to run a scam....
  20. In the end, that's all that matters." "Now that's entertainment."
  21. Ok, let's see.... Currently in theaters (probably) World War II references, Hitler references A project to produce a super-soldier.. to fight the Nazis and Hitler. Sounds like "Project:Rebirth." When Captain America throws his mighty shield, All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield! If he’s led to a fight and a duel is due, Then the red and white and the blue’ll come through When Captain America throws his mighty shield!
  22. Actually, there's not that much on the GSC regarding this. I've looked around and found little when I attempted to make a timeline. vpw found that his first attempt to do the way corps was not subservient enough for him, near as I could determine. As was his usual style, he savaged their reputation and tried to hide their existence. He claimed they "never got it together" and a few WEEKS into the program "I gave them the privilege of leaving." (Per TW:LIL.) The fact that his first attempt was a consistent FAILURE should have told a lot. After all, vpw himself had ZERO training in programs, neither as a manager nor as a participant. He claimed he wanted to model it after the military-despite having ZERO experience with the military. So, basically, he wanted the OBEDIENCE seen in army movies or whatever without providing the corresponding BENEFITS to the soldier (which vpw knew nothing about, any way.) He claimed that model a number of times and places. At others, he claimed to model it after the Book of Acts- which it in no way resembles. vpw was fond of saying THIS to one person and THAT to another and lying to both at the same time if it suited his purposes. What he WANTED was the OBEDIENCE, and he kept trying until he got it. Anywhere the people actually CARED would have stopped everything and disassembled the program after an initial "failure" and completely re-engineered it with improvements across the board. With twi, that was never an option- just get more obedience to vpw. Later, the corps were taught to enforce vpw's will across twi, and they got formal training-in SALES from the Dale Carnegie organization. It's obvious what vpw thought was important. As for real training Christian leaders could need, there was none- nothing on COUNSELING or anything on relating to people. People are supposed to JUMP when told to, as vpw sees it and as he tried to teach the corps (succeeding at times.) He also had no QUALITY CONTROL as to who joined- his only rule seems to be the one lcm HIMSELF faced- "YOU CAN STAY AS LONG AS YOUR MONEY HOLDS." vpw cared about money and obedience, and the rest of the corps was filler...except when they were called upon to do manual labor around the farm. The students not only worked for FREE, they PAID TUITION to work around the farm. Did vpw know how to work a scam or what? ==================== I forgot to mention- just as he kid their existence by numbering others "the FIRST" who came later, twi followed that example and hid the others who came later. After EVERYONE from the "FIRST" (second, after the "zero" corps) all left twi, twi had none left to show. So, they went around to all the old-timers who were never corps, and said "congratulations- you are now the First Corps" and claimed they had "First Corps" around twi still. When it comes to twi, vpw established that lying was just fine as long as you don't get caught, and that's still policy at twi.
  23. DING! We have a winner! Here's how the quotes went... "You're lucky he didn't kill you, too. Or rape you, then kill you. Or kill you, then rape you." When Ben Richards was being taken by the show staff and the contract was being read. It's a line I've heard quoted since then. "I warn you I get sick. Car sick, air sick. And I'm going to throw up all over *you*." "Go for it. Won't show on this shirt..." I thought this was the best line when it was said. Ben Richards was trying to escape to Hawaii, with Amber as his hostage. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. "Me and my big mouth. We should have taken the trip to Hawaii." "I had the shirt for it, but you f***ed it up." I don't remember this exchange, but it's on the Imdb page, so whatever. "Mr. Spock, you have the com." "Who is Mr. Spock?" "Mick" (Mick Fleetwood) to one of the kids when they were taking over the network feed. "Hi, cutie pie. You know one of us is in deep trouble. You know who I am?" "I've seen you before. You're the @$$hole on TV." "That's funny. I was going to say the same thing about you." Damon Killian and Ben Richards, the first time they spoke. (The last time they spoke, Richards began by repeating Killian's initial comment. "Hi, cutie pie. One of us is in deep trouble.") "You bastard! Drop dead!" "I don't do requests." Killian and Richards at their last meeting. "Don't touch that dial!" Dweezil Zappa got to say that line when taking over the studio. "The Justice Department's calling every ten minutes." "Just give them an evasive answer. Tell them to go f* themselves." Killian's aide and Killian- which nicely summed up what Killian was like.
  24. We first HEARD of Yoda on Hoth when Luke was freezing and Obi-Wan spoke to him. We first SAW Yoda on Dagobah. Hoth and Dagobah first appear in "Empire." In SW, we had Tattooine, the Death Star, a Star Destroyer, and Yavin 4. But this one IS "Dune."
