Hey- it sounds like the GSC did its job, then! Part of it is to inform strangers so they never step into twi's trap. Part of it is to show twi'ers that there's life outside twi-and it's better than in twi. Part of it is to show twi escapees that there's life outside twi-and it's better than in twi. If you're having a good life free of twi, then hey, I'm all for that!

No, it has to be "The Last Temptation of Christ."

I don't know if he was telling one of his frequent lies at the time. However, vpw was once caught on tape telling the following, perhaps at an ROA: " 'Give a dog a good name and he'll live up to it. Give a dog a bad name and he'll live down to it.' That's why I named one dog 'Tick', the other, 'Triff.' It's from the German word 'trefan', meaning 'to hit the mark.' I want that dog to hit the mark. I don't want him missing it when I'm hunting those birds." I still don't know why "Tick" would be a GOOD name, but he claimed he himself named the dog and that it was "a good name."

BTW, for an event that supposedly was the second most important day in his life, he can't keep the simplest detail straight. The account in TWLIL said the sky was suddenly in a WHITEOUT condition. The other account before the book (Mrs W documented it in her book) has him saying the sky was BLACK with snow. Surely, for a significant day, if the sky is filled, you can remember if it's all white or all black... unless you made the whole thing up. Significant moments for me as a Christian- I can often recite the MINOR details decades later.

There's a LOT we've discussed. I CAN remember some of it, which is why I find it and link. Others contribute in ways I can't. BTW, we discussed the more general subject in the "Foolhardy behavior" thread. I think there might be yet ANOTHER thread more directly related, but I haven't found it yet.

Bumping this thread to join its friend "The LEAD accident-what happened?"

Got it. Your turn.

I would have recognized "for real" and "vampire movie" as "Welcome to Fright Night....for real." (IMHO, best and most memorable line of the movie.) I thought the original was interesting. Peter O'Toole as Peter Vincent, IIRC. There was even a werewolf knockoff I haven't seen, with Kevin Sorbo. I had no idea they'd done a remake-and when I googled out of curiousity, I concluded that ANY use of Google had excluded me from guessing. (I can be a harsh critic of myself.) But I have no idea of the current one.

Ok, let's see. Didn't see the movie. But it had to have Toby in it as the title character. And I can't name anyone else from the one non-Spider movie I know he was in. Who else had to be in- oh, right, Mary Jane Watson! So, I'll go Kirsten Dunst Interview with the Vampire Brad Pitt (I could probably do a better link if I ever actually see THAT movie, instead of a few minutes here or there.) (Raf, I of course got your message. I just never sent a pm and posting the sole reply would have been a bit obvious. :) )

A boss settles an old grudge with an old enemy- and starts by going after his kids. Good thing the other guy has friends. This results in a day of victory for the little guys- and the little lady.

Indeed. Go.

For those who'd want to read it with less discussion, HCW redid the account in "MyStory", with the same name for the new thread.

They banned all posts from people not currently twi members. Presuming there's anyone IN twi who want to post, all people who DO post have all their posts SCRUTINIZED by twi staff. Any wonder why there's lack of activity?

His last one was "West Side Story", which made it my turn. So I posted a clue.

Obviously Bob Dylan on "Highway 61."

This show's first and last episodes book-ended the series nicely- one scene in the finale mirrored one in the pilot. The final episode also featured a lot of characters who had been introduced throughout the series. Including Johnny Cochran playing himself.

Ok, the story.... I was taking a plane somewhere, for the first time in memory. (I'd traveled by plane as a VERY small child, but had no memory of it.) I was a touch nervous and traveling alone. While I sat in the plane, we had a slight delay before takeoff. I had a Walkman on and was listening to NYC's rock station, 102.7, WNEW. (It existed at the time.) They announced they were going to premiere the new Pink Floyd album soon. I figured I'd miss it and be out of broadcast range soon. As it turns out, just as we were beginning to taxi out, the DJ announced they were now playing the world premiere of the first single, "Learning To Fly." As I watched us approach the clouds and pass through them, I was listening to the lyrics for the first time. =========================================================== Into the distance, a ribbon of black Stretched to the point of no turning back. A flight of fancy on a windswept field Standing alone my senses reeled. A fatal attraction is holding me fast- How can I escape this irresistible grasp? Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies. Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I Ice is forming on the tips of my wings. Unheeded warnings- I thought I'd thought of everything. No navigator to find my way home. Unladened, empty and turned to stone. A soul in tension that's learning to fly. Condition grounded- but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I Above the planet on a wing and a prayer, My grubby halo, a vapor trail in the empty air, Across the clouds I see my shadow fly Out of the corner of my watering eye. A dream unthreatened by the morning light Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night There's no sensation to compare with this Suspended animation, a state of bliss Can't keep my mind from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I -
Probably "West Side Story".

I'll take a guess. "American Bandstand"?

"Learning To Fly", by Pink Floyd. (Off of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason".) I have a most remarkable personal story about when that song premiered.
