Basil Rathbone also rather famously played villains when someone needed to do a fencing scene in a movie, and made the hero look good after a crash-course in movie fencing. And, old-school fans of Sherlock Holmes remember him as the detective, opposite a somewhat bumbling Watson. Playing fairly is a LOT more fun than cheating, of course.

You should have gone with your temptation. Actually, in the UK, they changed the name of the more recent movie for the release. ("Marvel's Avengers Assemble" "Marvel Avengers Assemble" "Avengers Assemble") since "Avengers" there implies the Steed/Peel team.

Basil Rathbone made a career as an actor and a fencer who acted... but for one movie, he was unable to keep up with the blazing-fast blade-work of the novice he was facing off against...so for part of their fight sequence, Basil Rathbone had a stunt double performing the dueling scenes for him. Granted, Rathbone was 63 at the time, but he was still quite surprised how the other actor was such a natural-and so fast. It was especially shocking considering the late actor's extensive reputation always was-and is- for his many COMEDIC talents, and it's hard to picture him doing action-hero stuff with no double- yet, that's what happened.

This one is tricky. This movie is about stopping an attempt by aliens to conquer the Earth by weaponizing the weather. They are opposed by agents sent by the UK and US.

It's great that she loves them, but does she consider them "chick flicks"? Mrs Wolf loves car chase movies, but never considers them "chick flicks".... "Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb." (That's the next quote, BTW.)

I have yet to meet anyone who would consider ANY "CONAN" movie to be a chick-flick. (Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, Conan the Comedian...)

I don't think there's another person on this board who saw that movie. I skip a movie I quite like for the same reason- obscurity no matter how good the movie was.

You phrased it as a question? That's it. Check YouTube to find the single frame where Waldo's corpse is piled with the other dead. I'm annoyed he had the nerve to do that in the theatrical release but not the DVD. (I'm sure sales of the DVD would have gone up.) They also have the trailer which has a frame of Gibson hanging out with the costumed cast.

Sometimes it seems that the controversy around a movie can make the movie secondary or less. Sometimes it seems the director is so crazy he starts controversy by accident or on purpose. In the case of this movie, the trailer had a frame of the director on-set with the characters all in costume, and the theatrical release (but not the DVD release) included a single frame of a dead WALDO (of Where's Waldo/Wally fame) corpse in-shot with the other corpses. There would have been plenty of controversy without that, starting with filming entirely in Maya with English subtitles (or other subtitles for releases elsewhere, I would imagine.) It was set in Guatemala. As often happens, people disagreed as to the meaning of the ending. The director pointed out it had a revealing. That should come as no great shock to anyone who knows what the movie's title means. It was shot in Mexico, without CGI. It was an action-drama.

No. It was an action-drama. Yes. You may suspect it was in Spanish all you wish (or "Castellano" for the pedantic), but that was not the language of the movie. (Except, I'd expect, in subtitles for Spanish-speaking countries where it appeared in theaters, of course.) BTW, there's a perfectly good reason why I describe this movie, and you keep picturing "Passion of the Christ" despite no connection of setting, timeframe, focus, format, or actors.
