  1. OK, game shows again. Name any to take the round, name more than one for bragging rights. A) WIth one game show, the key was to find connections between one word and another, and get from one word to a completely unrelated word- by going through all the unrelated words in-between, with each word connected both to the word preceding it and the word following it. B) One of the features of this game show was, if you accidentally answered a trivia question in the form of a question, they passed you a dunce-cap to wear for the rest of the round. In the final round, one of the hosts usually offered the contestant the hope that he'd beat his opponent thoroughly in the final "best of 10". That's because his opponent was not another contestant! C) I've now put three shows up for guessing. At least 2 game shows took place in supermarkets. Concerning this one, it's primarily a cooking competition. (What are you waiting for? The clock started!) This one starts with 4 cooks, either amateur or professional, who have a timed cooking challenge. Generally, there's a theme they have to adhere to for the round, as well as limitations on what can be used. In each case, the contestant begins by moving through the supermarket to get their ingredients before they can start cooking. All of that's on the same timer, and ingredients are subject to availability, so a popular ingredient that round could actually run out. Challenges could include a limited number of ingredients, a limited number of aisles to get ingredients, or a limited budget for the prices (that round included a cashier and a handout of sales.) D) This show has been described as being like having "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" take place in the back of a taxi. It was usually hosted by comedian Ben Bailey. Once you requested a destination in the taxi, he revealed you were on a game show. He would ask questions all the way to your destination. If you answered them all, you won the money. If you got stuck, you could use two shout-outs, pulling over and asking a single pedestrian, or phoning a single person. If you missed three questions, he pulled over wherever he was and let you out without the money (but not having paid for the partial ride in a yellow taxi.) Finally, if you made it to your destination without striking out, he offered you the chance to go double-or-nothing on a single question with a video clip. If you got it right, you doubled your winnings, if you got it wrong, you only won the free ride. (It was optional and not everyone took it.)
  2. "They can't stop us. We're on a mission from God."
  3. *checks* Human without the Bean is being generous with me. In the newer "Casino Royale", Bond was asked if he wanted his martini "shaken or stirred." His reply was "Do I look like I give a damn?" I thought the drink was offered "shaken not stirred". Apparently, H w/o Bean judged it close enough to count, which was nice of him. On the other hand, now it's my turn again, let's see....
  4. The Moody Blues, "Question." (I remember the band first, then this song's name.)
  5. If that's not it, is it "Dennis the Menace???"
  6. "You here to make fun of me too? " No, ma'am. We at the FBI do not have a sense of humor we're aware of. May we come in? "Sure." "Did he say anything to you? "Yeah, that the world is coming to an end." "Did he say when?" "You chose me... so you recognized the skills, so I don't want nobody calling me son or kid or sport or nothing like that, cool?" "Gentlemen, congratulations. You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training. Now please step this way, as we provide you with our final test: an eye exam..."

  8. For a time, the Powers That Be for the state of New Jersey examined Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." Why?
  9. aka Bruce Springsteen. Correct.

  11. You guys are showing your ages; this was a big hit. "In the day, we sweat it out on the streets Of a runaway American dream. At night, we ride through mansions of glory In suicide machines. Sprung from cages out on Highway 9. Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin' out over the line. Oh, baby this town rips the bones from your back, It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap. We gotta get out while we're young." "Wendy let me in, I wanna be your friend,I want to guard your dreams and visions. Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims, and strap your hands across my engines. Together we could break this trap. We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back. Oh, will you walk with me out on the wire? 'cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider. But I gotta know how it feels. I want to know if love is wild, babe. I want to know if love is real. Oh, can you show me?" "Beyond the palace, hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard. The girls comb their hair in rear-view mirrors and the boys try to look so hard. The amusement park rises bold and stark, kids are huddled on the beach in a mist. I wanna die with you, Wendy, on the streets tonight in an everlasting kiss. The highways jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive. Everybody's out on the run tonight but there's no place left to hide. Together, Wendy, we can live with the sadness, I'll love you with all the madness in my soul. Oh, someday girl, I don't know when, We're gonna get to that place where we really want to go, and we'll walk in the sun."
  12. *checks* Joe Kubert's superhero work was mostly before I was born. Ross Andru DID do "World's Finest", but, technically, that didn't address the question. When I think of the Teen Titans, I usually think of the "New Teen Titans", the 80s, popular version done by Marv Wolfman and George Perez (often with Romeo Tangal.) The previous version had a more limited distribution, and was hard to find on newsstands. I should have said BOTH Ross Andru and Curt Swan for Superman/Action, which WAS correct, but I second-guessed myself based on the form of the question. I can't blame Mark Sekowsky for the bad stories, he wasn't writing them. DC tried to be hip and current, and mixed Mrs Peel/Diana Rigg with the "mod" movement for a socially-relevant superhero who was up with the latest fashions and issues. The problem there, IMHO, wasn't that they did that, but that they didn't introduce a new character to do that. The outcry wasn't so much about what I mentioned, but that they had to de-power Wonder Woman to do that. Among some women activists, it was seen as if they'd de-powered Superman. (I mean, for an extended period, they had actually done that BRIEFLY before. Interestingly enough, I-Ching was involved BOTH times, when Superman AND when WW were de-powered; he trained WW and he tried to use some mystic healing to return Superman's powers. He also went down like a punk- shocking considering all his other appearances and his black-belt status.)
  13. I occasionally confuse Bonanza for GUNSMOKE since I wasn't a big viewer of either.
  14. "I owe everything to George Bailey. Help him, Dear Father." "Bert! Ernie!"
  15. Definitely Jim Aparo as the quintessential Batman artist for old-school Batman. IIRC, Ross Andru did "World's Finest", (Superman/Batman), but I'm not sure.
  16. How sure are you that "Keeping the Faith" was in "Men in Black"?
