  1. After the original "Night of the Living Dead" was "Dawn of the Dead," followed by "Day of the Dead." After Romero finished the 3rd, the parodies and remakes started.
  2. Here's how the names ran... Linda Richman Pat Arnold Donnie Shulzhoffer Linda Richman was SNL's host for "Coffee Talk." "Just tawk among yourselves." "Oh, it was like buttah!" Pat Arnold was one of SNL's "superfans"-obsessed fans of "Da Bears." Donnie Shulzhoffer was in "Mystery, Alaska." Stuart Rankin Kenneth Rhys-Evans/"Cucumber Jones" Guru Maurice Pitka Guru Maurice Pitka was "the Love Guru" in the film of the same name. On SNL, Kenneth Rhys-Evans was that old", stuffy British actor who also went by "Cucumber Jones", supposedly when he was doing adult films. On SNL, Stuart Rankin was the Scottish owner of the shop in the US, "All Things Scottish. Store motto: "If it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!!!!" Steve Rubell General Ed Fenech John Witney Steve Rubell was in "54". General Ed Fenech in "Inglorious Basterds," John Witney in "View from the Top." Charlie Mackenzie Tim Broderick Dieter Dieter was SNL's recurring character, the host of "Sprockets." They ALMOST made a movie around him-but Mike's sanity kicked in, and he vetoed up his own script. Charlie Mackenzie may have "Married an Axe Murderer." Tim Broderick was in "the Thin Pink Line." Mick Jagger Ron Wood Vladimir Lenin Danny Partridge John Wayne Bobbitt Barbra Streisand All SNL parodies of famous people-musicians, singer, actors, and so on.
  3. I was thinking that, but didn't have a chance to post when I did think that. Is this "Airport 77?"
  4. He seemed so certain, I thought he had it. How about "Independence Day of the Dead"??
  5. You're not counting anyone who played the same role with the same name-in a context parody. I think my next list of names will be several giveaways in succession.
  6. "Mars Attacks!" "Peaceful" aliens had just wiped out both Houses of Congress on national television. The President gave this response to his press flacks.

  8. Mrs Doubtfire Robin Williams Pierce Brosnan Mars Attacks!
  9. Apollo 13 Clint Howard Tango & Cash
  10. There's virtually nothing of this musical I'd recognize (a snippet off one song), but this is apparently "RENT." It's not a musical about an old, torn garment.
  11. Some actors feel differently about how seriously to take their performances. In LotR-the Two Towers, there's a moment where Aragorn thinks the hobbits were killed. He kicks a helmet in frustration, and screams in anger. When VM kicked the helmet, he fractured a toe-the scream was very authentic. Actors add a lot to their roles when they take a real injury-the reactions are authentic. In other news, this was "the Fugitive", as you know.
  12. "I didn't kill my wife!" "I don't care!"
  13. Forgot about this thread. When Episode 1 came out, I didn't see it in the theaters. I saw it on VHS first. So, I figured on seeing this on DVD first-which I did. And missed Episode 1. With Episode 1, I had TWO complaints, both George Lucas missteps. A) Jar-Jar Binks. A little of him is survivable. Lucas put him in quite a bit. B) Anakin Skywalker's age had about a decade dropped from it. Lucas said he wanted kids to be able to identify with it. I was a kid when Episode 4 came out and I had no problems identifying with it. (And now his back-story had lots of inconsistent timeline gaffes because he wanted to be clever.) With Episode 7, I hardly know where to start. My comments seem to be 2 categories: 1) Almost all of this recapitulated Episode 4. 2) A lot of the plot devices were used in the Expanded Universe-and were better in the books! The "it's a remake of Episode 4" was addressed fairly well here: http://www.supertreegnome.com/6-ways-the-force-awakens-is-a-worse-star-wars-movie-than-phantom-menace-censored.html
  14. Love Actually Martin Freeman the Hobbit-An Unexpected Journey
  15. Linda Richman Pat Arnold Donnie Shulzhoffer Stuart Rankin Kenneth Rhys-Evans/"Cucumber Jones" Maurice Pitka Steve Rubell Ed Fenech John Witney
  16. Right. Roles played, name the role-ee. Right. You're 2 for 2! Indicates one actor/actress either changed gender and kept acting, or one actor/actress played both male and female roles, like Robin Williams playing Mrs Doubtfire. Ok. It's one actor/actress who hasn't changed gender-they played at least 1 role that didn't match their gender.
  17. "Dogma"? No, Metatron said it ONCE, not TWICE, IIRC. Must be the original KK, with Miyagi and not Han.
  18. I smirked, and I may have snorted slightly-I was in a hurry when I read that.
  19. Linda Richman Pat Arnold Donnie Shulzhoffer Stuart Rankin Kenneth Rhys-Evans Maurice Pitka
  20. Since everyone's been so sharp lately on this thread, I was hoping for a moment of confusion. George thought the "Pat" I mentioned was "It's Pat", but that's a different Pat. Actually, I'm less a fan of THAT Pat as I am of this one (at least a little.) I'll add more names this evening. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves in the meantime.
