The inspector says the title in his lines- not that most people noticed or could make it out! -"Tail piece" is how one non-translated word would be rendered in English- but it isn't a word at all in the language in which it was spoken. (Unless, say, it got added due to this movie.) -He did NOT say a dirty word! The cinematographer/ film expert was initially told to shoot in a style- but he SHOULD have been told to EVOKE the style and not actually COPY it. He was supposed to render it BRIGHTER- which he did, once he was told to.

T-Bone, that's the only way I've ever done it. I didn't know the other way to get the thread! In answer to the original poster, what I know offhand isn't much. I know that he started "his ministry" while on the denomination's dime. While taking his paycheck for work as their pastor, he was quietly looking for enough material and enough people to make it alone as a separate church organization. (I thought of that while reading the Pillai links above- looks like Pillai- or whatever his real name was- was one of several people making up a sound-alike organization that sounded like an existing, respected church group. vpw might have copied him.) While vpw was doing that, he was trying to make contacts and connections. When he first set up "his ministry" called "The Way Inc" , his correspondence reflected both an ecumenical perspective as well as a Trinitarian one. The ecumenical one made sense to me whether he was sincere or not. If he was sincere, he might have considered an eclectic approach to Christianity. (When we thought he was legit, he resembled this to me.) If he was not sincere, it served him well to claim ecumenism as his ticket to enter where other Christians were. So, he either claimed to be a Trinitarian at the time, or he thought he was one at the time. vpw could always be counted upon to follow odd or idiosyncratic positions. Some of the time, I think it was because he could fake knowing esoteric things if he could spit back something esoteric that someone else said. Some of the time, I think it was because he thought obscure things were more marketable. I think the change in vpw's position was after his exposure to one of B.G. Leonard's books, "The Godhead, or The Water in the Bottle". It doesn't look like the same thing vpw taught, but it probably got him thinking. The exact position he arrived at was not the same as Leonard, Stiles, Kenyon, or Bullinger claimed to hold, so I don't know where he got it. He was so famously UNoriginal that it's my opinion he picked it up SOMEWHERE rather than actually arriving at it himself.

Police scientist makes me think of The Flash and Bulletman (both ballistics experts, IIRC.) Was this Carter Nash/"Captain Nice"? I remember hearing OF him on one of these threads. (His "CN" belt buckle suggested his hero-name.)

The Super-Friends had Wonder Woman, and Wendy Harris, and the rest of the starters were white males- Superman, Batman, Robin, Aquaman. When they brought in help, it was Plastic Man or Flash. (All white males.) The attempts at diversity gave us some new tokens- Black Vulcan (a Black Lightning expy), El Dorado, Apache Chief, and Samurai. For those last 3, I suspect little thought was given to coming up with a costume or code-name that would have been authentic or reflective of their supposed culture.

vpw is now known for both lying a lot, and telling different things to different people. He contradicted himself based on what he wanted to say at the time, which was often based on his audience at the time. He also may not have had a very good memory. Stan Lee (the Marvel Comics guy) has told contradicting stories down the years about some events decades ago (other comics people have done the same) and I don't think he was trying to impress people. In the case of Stan, I think that he often INNOCENTLY recounted tales in a more interesting way because he REWROTE THEM IN HIS HEAD and didn't realize he'd done it. In the case of vpw, he either knew he was rewriting stuff or really didn't care if what he told now was the absolute truth. In the mouths of some people, the truth or stories in general grow an extra leg.

It's the 70s. Let's diversify the cast. Right now, we have 2 white females, and the rest of the people are white males. Ok, you want to diversify the cast? Let's diversify the cast, then- we'll add an African-American, a Mexican, a Native American, and a Japanese.

We're just happy that at least ONE of the shows isn't angsty. We're following Flash and LoT right now, DC-wise. Star Girl might be lighter, but we'll have to wait and see. (The last one we saw of LoT was the one you mentioned.) Yes, in fairness, a lot of teenage guys would have gone a different direction there. In HIS case, he was SUCH an outsider that what he wanted most of all, deep down, was to fit in, maybe get some respect by his peers, and have good memories of his prom- especially with a girl he'd thought about before, not just one arriving now. Besides, Nora looked significantly older than him, so that might have made a big difference to him. There's been NSFW responses to that sort of thing where some guy got that type of question and gave that type of answer, but it didn't fit this show.

It IS "The Archies". There were several sequels, "United States of Archie", "Archie TV Funnies". "Archies Weird Mysteries", etc. "Riverdale" is its live-action show. The forgotten character who got her own TV show was "SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH". Forgot she was an Archie character, I'm sure. They've had a bunch of comic books, and at least one hit single- "Sugar Sugar." The "Riverdale" show included another MLJ character- their version of " the Black Hood."

According to twi, twi is inherently Christian, and superior to other Christian groups in practice and understanding of Christian matters. The disconnect between their "do as I say" and their own doings SHOULD provoke outrage among their "followers".
