I suppose I kind of strayed off the subject there. Sorry. Hope I didn't kill this thread. Isn't it amazing the some of the things we swallowed that are in direct contradiction to some plain and simple scriptures though?

Appeciate that JB... Yes....faith as a grain of mustard seed. The wall has been broken down between God and man. Man and all his self.... God, there now, as always, within... Above all, through all and in you all... Loosing yourself to find it... Love energizes faith... Looking beyond ourselves, our knowledge... A different look-a different perspective... Yet there remains intact ourselves, our loves.. Christ who is our life... Built upon the word of life in our souls. As some one told me once- Take your faith and smash it against the wall and see what sticks. God is love...it is love that gets us there. Faith...just a little is all it takes... Dear Lord, that's about all I can come up with... Take me by the hand and lead me to it. One God, One Spirit, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One Father. Not addition-but One. Many with different backgrounds and upbringing have found it. Narrow is the road, so we can't get too big to enter. But wide is the love...

Good point, Greek2me, God does not change. So what was the point of what Jesus accomplished? Many things... The vail of the temple was rent in twain... The temple-not made with hands. The mind. The vail was upon the heart. The holy of holies open to those looking for it. 2 Corinthians3:14But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. So what did happen to the first Adam? Death of what? He did actually die... the second one did too... but is that the meaning? The first did not eat of the tree of life. "Turn to the Lord" it says... Before Abraham-I was...said Jesus the Christ. Spirit upon, in, in the spirit... Has always been there...waiting...willing...

Just to be clear... If I say Spirit or spirit, it's that one and selfsame Spirit I'm talking about.
-
i don't buy the upper/lower case doctrine either either it's 1 Spirit or it's not... ephesians says one-1 and not one plus one plus one 1 period.
-
Yeah..... 1 per customer.... Which is in opposition to- Ephesians 4:4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Then you have the factor of "receiving the gift of holy spirit" to deal with. What does that mean? Of course it's a gift. And I believe it is not separate from God. "Receiving".....from where? From within or from without. It takes more then a concordance to see it imo.

Non-Canonical Books: How Do You Decide?
CM replied to Oakspear's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
All I really know is the King James. But knowing that there are other spiritual writings out there is not unusual to me. And it seems to me that it is only right that there should be other things to consider. These "church fathers" as they are called, whoever they were, were only men like you and me. I'll bet Paul had no idea that there would be such controversy over the "bible" as he penned his letters. Or any of the other writers of the bible. And I would say Paul wrote more than what we have on record today, as well as others who wrote as they were moved by the holy spirit. The Word was for then and for our learning now, those who speak now carry just as much weight as those who spoke then, imo. Cause the Word spoken now by the living is alive when there is believing behind it, and therefore carries with it the power of it's God. Comparing spiritual things with spiritual things is a matter of personal growth and the ability to see beyond that of the one writing and consider what was written. Rather then taking someone's word for it that they are speaking by the Spirit of God. But it will on it's own manifest itself to the reader or the one hearing, wether or not it's the word of life. -
sorry. wrong button pushed

Biblical/Scriptural/Doctrinal Prejudices and Racisms
CM replied to sirguessalot's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
As you know I've sworn off greasespot for a while, but my heart lies in the pages as Vertical Limit and CM, and with those who post here and lurk, should one care to search out my posts. I guess one would have to include the e-mails we've had between each other. And see my spiritual journey. For it's here that I've defeated pfal and the devil out of my life and my oldest son's life (who follows in my footsteps) and my family, forever. With the help of those who can See. Biblical Racism is real. Why can't we pick up some of the fruit of other religions and spiritual writings and see maybe for the first time that God has made humankind his habitation, his dwelling place and not limited to one religion or way of believing. For it's within humankind and their many religions that we can pick up some of the fruit of their beliefs and finally find some answers. And so here I am again putting my heart on these pages.......and my words are from the depth of my soul. A part of me here and now, like many who post here. So I get a little insecure or nervous about them. That they might be misread or my meaning be lost. I feel a little like David sometimes. Complaining to God in one Psalm and in the next, praising Him for His Goodness. Or Solomon who said what's the freaking point of it all anyway. As always, Love Forever, -
Thanks tomtuttle, I needed that! :)--> :)--> :)-->

Biblical/Scriptural/Doctrinal Prejudices and Racisms
CM replied to sirguessalot's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Ok, sirg man, "as specific as you wish" (hang on to your bibles you scripture gurus) Jesus' baptism...the first death...and Life. The second one yet to come. And the first shall be last and the last shall be first. And the dead in Christ shall rise first (for he is Lord of both the dead and the living), Then we which are alive and remain shall join them. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. One way or another, all will pass through the fire... One day as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Even so Lord, come.... -
Sorry tomtuttle, I've misread your meaning. Thanks ex, sometimes the brain skips and misses. I get these insecure feelings popping up from time to time too. Just human I guess....
-
Ok ex..... Seems I'm missing it! :D-->

Rehashing, smashing the same old stuff can help kill it off ya know, and help others too.

Tom-is there something bothering you about this place or what people say here? Seems like it. Just wondering, maybe someone here can help clear it up for you. Peace :)-->

Biblical/Scriptural/Doctrinal Prejudices and Racisms
CM replied to sirguessalot's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Racism in general is the "I'm superior and your inferior because" of many things; I know more then you I'm born again, you are not I'm a man you are a woman I'm a woman you are a man I'm body/soul/spirit, you are just body/soul. ....(which is bullsh!t by the way)... I'm a disciple of this person, you are not. The list is longer... Notice the many "I"s!! Loosen yourself from yourself and find yourself. -

"A black and white (and often painfully red) version of the universe is all that the ole beast within us is able to see. But the "mind of Christ" can distinguish the value of every color in the spectrum. Same universe, a different set of eyes = a new heaven and earth...coming together in harmony. Try it, you might even find a rebirth. Yes, there is a lake of fire in life, and all heresy, selfish control, selfish judgement, and self deception has gotta take a dip one way or another. Its for this reason, it seems, that for most, Jesus' baptism is Hell. And so no wonder The Way is called "narrow" and "small" is known to make "grown" men cry (cuz they know they aint gonna try it). A way in which our shadows and our pains and hatred reveals our own personal edges, not to mention a real good reason to do crazy stuff like fast, meditate and go off by yourself in the wilderness for long periods of time til you see your devils and dragons..." yep, been there...gotta go again though...and enjoy the warmth of it too... -

hmmmm....I actually do have those crazy non-canonical grandparents to draw upon. And I do see the fingerprints of those crazy non-canonical grandparents that are hiding in plain sight. And they do beat up against the floorboards or the ceiling or the walls.... sheesh-just resting and breathing can do wonders for soul/spirit. -

Biblical/Scriptural/Doctrinal Prejudices and Racisms
CM replied to sirguessalot's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
You guys are going to have to glide in a little slower and closer for some of us simple folk who don't have the education or those crazy non-canonical grandparents to draw upon. Perhaps that's what def means when he said put it in plain english. :)--> -
I see your point tomtuttle, but this is also a place for many to unload all that crap, and rehash it till it gets out of their system. And it can take some time to do that, months, even years to purge themselves and rid themselves of the effect of the abuse that they suffered. To dwell on it, to search it out, to rid themselves of that slavery and bondage and abuse by talking it out. Yes freedom to speak here and now finally at last in this little ole corner of the world called greasespotcafe.

If you didn't say what you said, I wouldn't have said what I said. Both are counseling, imo. gotta get some shut eye time now. talk more soon...

Proverbs 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. Speaking of water, this is what you just did Garth. It's a working together thing not against each other.
