I thought so, too... Until I found out that many church goers are SHOCKED that quarterly financial statements were not sent out to all active twi participants. How twi does business is what's incredible. As for non-profit anything goes, it is just plain common decency to put out at least an annual financial statement/explanation package. Churches are no different when it comes to common decency...and, in fact, because churches operate solely on the donations and labors of their congregants, churches are typically far more forth-coming than other non-profits. Nearly 30 years of twi brain made me forget that when I was growing up, our family church (Nazarene) held annual meetings and handed out annual financial reports/statements. The United Methodist Church does this, too...and some of them even do it quarterly. In fact, the majority of mainstream churches practice the same. TWI was/is just a shady operation.

I started attending church again a few weeks ago. The very first thing the church encourages new folks to do is attend a 4 hour get-together (catered and paid for by the church) called, "Welcome To Harmony" (the church's name is Harmony Vineyard). My friend and I attended the get-together. Fully one whole hour was devoted to explaining the finances of the church...and putting forth an open invitation to ANYBODY who wished to review the church's books. Not only is my church far more honest in its business dealings than twi could ever even imagine... My church helps people come into a closer relationship with Jesus. TWI was just wrong, wrong, wrong on EVERY account of EVERYTHING they ever said, did, thought, taught, imagined, whatever. (I'm gonna do a post someday with all the WRONG DIVISION and PRIVATE INTERPRETATION twi put on the scriptures. TWI didn't just practice a few doctrinal differences, folks...TWI lead people away from God and away from Jesus...right into hell itself.)

So stay away from your relatives. LMAO!!!! No, this isn't what the thread is about...but I couldn't resist. :D--> This coming Monday is our 25th wedding anniversary. In all seriousness, I'm wondering if this a sign of good things... Or if it's a sign of total insanity. Really, folks, think about it. Marriage, raising kids, worrying about the grandkids...these things are INSANE most of the time. Everybody knows that kids are at their most cute behaviour WHEN THEY'RE SLEEPING...which is often less than 1/3 of the day. So, this means that for 2/3s of the day, KIDS SUCK. And GAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!! If my husband farts under the blankets and then covers my head JUST ONE MORE TIME...I SWEAR... Well, don't ask and I won't tell. And his frickin' 'mid-life crisis'...yeah...right...whistle in my other ear and tell me it's raining... But that was evened out by menopause...hehehehe...and he thinks it takes at least 15 years to fully go through menopause...I wonder what I'm going to do in 2013 for excuses to whap him upside the head. Sigh. And, honey, if you think my boobs are sagging, take a good look in the mirror when you're totally nude... No, you DO NOT have knobby knees... That's right... THOSE AIN'T YER KNEES, BUBBA. Speaking of bubbas... Blue Collar TV is not, has never been, and will never be my idea of a fun evening with you. Which brings me to this whole 25th wedding anniversary stuff again... A picnic in the backyard of folks we've known less than 3 years. Yep... Marriage is insanity. [Copyright 2005 by Me, Victoria Nicholson...this all came out of my brain in the middle of the night.)

--> Hiya {{{{{Roy}}}}}. Good to see you around again. Take rest, brother...so you'll be ready when called up for the next hard time. OK? Love you lots!

{{{{{{{{{{{LindaZ}}}}}}}}}}!!!!!! Thank you so very much!!!! The old hymns mean so much to me...remind me of my grandma and grandpa...and move me to tears every time I hear/sing them. Thank you! This hymn goes so well with today's lesson that it was the very first thing that came to my mind when I started the lesson this morning. Again, THANK YOU!!!!

All I remember of the lyrics is part of the chorus that goes, "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word!" Now if the title to the song can be figured out, I can find the rest of the lyrics. This is for a women's group I participate in at church...that meets on Friday afternoons...so if anybody has a clue as to the title, I'd love to have the lyrics for this Friday's meeting. Thanks all in advance! :D-->

Sigh...I suppose it's better than followers and/or taxpayers keeping him like a king...

Personally, I feel I earned a place here... ;)--> :P--> 27 years of my life was spent in twi or twi offshoots...or just in twi think...and even now not all of it has been surfaced. Each and every post here is, to me, a taking back of what I lost... because I know twi reads GSC... and I know that THEY are now putting in time, money, labor, etc. to follow me and all the other posters here... There's just something sweet about that knowledge. And on the other hand... GSC has proven to be a pretty kewl place for me to hang out.

They equally work death... The only difference is when.

So now it's down to degrees of sin? Sin is sin. It works death. Are there degrees of being dead? Some would say so. Just remember... Those who would say so are still alive to say so... And have NO CLUE as to whether or not there are degrees of being dead.

I had seen something about this cult awhile back...and maybe it was the thread here that got me looking at it...but there was also another TV thingy about it, too. Anyway, I remember thinking that twi was so very much like this group...only far more secretive about it all...but, in the end, effecting the same and/or similar results. Sigh.

I saw the last 5 minutes of the show...because I had fallen asleep waiting for the show to come on. Sigh. Can anything more be said? LOLOLOLOL! I think Oprah did a show on the same cult...or somebody did sometime awhile ago. What I got out of the last 5 minutes was Dr Phil telling the girls/women that they should expect to be able to always ask questions...and always want to ask questions...and always expect answers to their questions. That's pretty good advice...if one knows what questions to ask. Ya know?

There was a day when a thread like this would set me off on a tangential tirade of reactionary sanctimonium... Now I just go into giggle fits. Y'all are NUTS!!!!!!!!!! But that's exactly why I've come to love y'all so very much. {{{{{Everybody}}}}} (I'm watching the show tomorrow...and nobody's gonna make me feel bad about it! :P--> :P--> :P--> :P--> )

Belle, Hiya! I've been down with pneumonia these last few weeks. Just starting to get over it a little bit. It was scary!!!! Yeah...I fantasize about getting a whole bunch of folks on Dr Phil...or maybe even Jerry, tee hee...and it's such a satisfying fantasy!!!! :D--> Zshot... Johnny... Y'all are just tryin' to start trouble, arencha? :D--> Well, I for one say it's unAmerican and unPatriotic if you don't like/don't watch Dr Phil, Oprah and American Idol. :P--> Tee hee. ;)-->

I have gone from total rejection of modern day "christianity" a couple of years ago, to now considering life as a lay minister. As must be obvious, my spiritual journey has been interesting, to say the least. My original dumping of modern day "christianity" was based primarily upon the realization that what passes for "christianity" today has little to do with Jesus the Christ. Over the last couple of years, I have learned that knowing Jesus as he is presented in the gospels is just not enough. Jesus is a living being. Knowing him in the here and now, having a personal relationship with him on a daily basis...these things are more important than following the historical texts. Trying to know Jesus via the bible is like trying to know me via posts I wrote way back on trance.net: you would not recognize me today if you were trying to find me based upon those posts. So, too, I think of this question of WWJD... How can you know unless you know who Jesus is today? You need a one-on-one personal relationship with him to know the answer to this question. IMO. But it's still a wonderful question!

Thought I'd share this info with you all. I'm gonna try to watch it.

As soon as I read it was for 7th graders, I thought... Rod McKuen! What Is It? Cloud formations on a given day and wondering if you've seen them too are enough to make a morning pass for me. Was your day filled with wanting, or the needlepoint of knowing that I waited and that I wait for you? I did. I do. Swing safely home to me, come evening. Make room for me within your life and I'll make room for you within my arms. If you don't know algebra or Alice by the the fire, or even why some roses fail to climb the wall, ask the question of me. Never be afraid to say, What is it? ----From "Fields of Wonder" © 1970, 1971 by Rod McKuen Atlas Don't be afraid to fall asleep with gypsies or run with leopards. As travelers or highwaymen we should employ whatever kind of wheels it takes to make our lives go smoothly down the road. And if you love somebody tell them. Love's a better roadmap for trucking down the years than Rand McNally ever made. ---- from With Love © 1968, 1969, 1970 by Rod McKuen ----------------------------- 7th Grade love just isn't the same without Rod McKuen...sigh...

TY, Abi. Whatever is going on in public places with super bugs and E. coli, etc, it scares me to no end. Last October I ended up with sepsis when a UTI got out of control (yep...nearly the exact scenario that brought about the Pope's death). I hallucinated for 3 days, the pain was excruciating (and I had a constant morphine drip), I was not aware of talking with people on the phone, and I was doing my own version of the last rights. I am so susceptible, and things go very bad so quickly, that I get pretty freaked out about interacting too much in public places...and frequent washing is an absolute MUST in my life.
