I get mad...a lot...as I'm sure that most of you know...but that doesn't mean I hate somebody. Why do people think that it does? Or that it should? (This is mostly about my personal life...nothing really to do with anything on the boards here...I've just never understood the mentality...so I thought I'd find out if anybody else gets it. Thanks.)

It takes a devil spirit to murder?
CoolWaters replied to CoolWaters's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Ah grasshopper! You are wise beyond your years. :) Actually, the bible is very clear that these things are 'works of the flesh'....Galatians 5. -
It takes a devil spirit to murder?
CoolWaters replied to CoolWaters's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
just loafing...yeah...I hear ya! Mark, of course that is the ultimate answer. But the bible is very clear on these things...and I just wondered how many people know what the bible actually says. -
What's 'devilish'? What's not? Think you really know? And I can't edit the poll to correct my spelling...sigh...sorry 'bout that.

Don't like it, don't look...change the channel...ignore the billboards...turn the page of the mag/paper...but stop lying about having anything shoved in your face. All you homophobes, all you self-righteous mouths of GAWD AWMIGHTY, all you closet queens got lots to say 'bout cowboys being sacred and not being depicted as homos 'cause that's BAD... But wtf... Depict cowboys as murdering, raping, pillaging, plundering and decimating women, children and whole races, well, gee, then that's GAWD'S WILL doncha know. Hypocrites the lot of ya.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!! And remarkably poignant.

OK...satori channeling lcm made me look... ;) So I went to the site ( http://www.brokebackmountain.com/home.html ) and read the review from The Kansas City Star (one of my local newspapers)...which I chose because I'm in the heart of the Bible Belt and figured if it is all what some folks here say it is...well, the Star would say so. I also watched the trailer. Here is the link to the review I read: http://www.brokebackmountain.com/reviewsTe...hp?iReviewID=23 I'm shocked! Stunned! Stupefied! Disappointed even! It's nothing more...nor less...than a tragic love story. Having been there, done that (twice married to a gay man struggling within himself), I feel cheated that all this brouhaha was over nothing but reality. Ignorance, in this case, has been fleshed out to be stupidity...imo.

:( This is hard enough to comprehend with any child...but with special ed children? It is correct that quite noticeable changes in behavior occur...and quite immediately. It is good your son is doing good. I'm sorry that this happened.

No, it is not exclusive to cults. The point, for me, of bringing the cult experience into the discussion is a)this is an ex-cult site where it is hoped to examine the cult experience and how it influenced our lives, and, b)to look at what came first, the cult or the mentality that made one susceptible to the cult. Good to 'see' you, too. I never go far or for long...just far enough not to be smelled and long enough to be missed. ;) LOL Well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. I watch a whole lot of TV and movies, am on the internet a whole lot, get a whole lot of mail, read a bunch of newspapers and get around town sometimes...and I have no clue about the movie or the promotions of which you speak. Oh sheesh...it seems that wherever I turned it was some billboard, some headline, some commercial, some talk show (radio and TV) or some preacher nattering on and on about the movie. Maybe there's a level of perception going on here...?

Well, Ron, there are many people who feel the same way about The Passion of the Christ. Who is right and who is wrong?

The Word of God is the Will of God
CoolWaters replied to Belle's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
:) TY CM and Outin88 It is amazing how easily it is to separate God and Jesus in one's mind. For example, even when we were taught in twi that the bible from Genesis 3 (if I remember correctly) on was all about Jesus, twi turned around and taught us that Jesus was absent. Another example is the topic of this thread...twi NEVER pointed us to Jesus, but pointed us to a golden bible idol. The most important doctrinal understanding that changed for me concerning twi was when my eyes were opened to the fact that the bible says that Jesus is the Word of God, not the book called the bible. Once I realized that, much of the twi false doctrines began to come off of my mind the way dust comes off one's body when one bathes in cool water. :) -
Mark, IMO, a person who has been in a cult is a person who has had experience with closed-mindedness and knows the end results...with which a person is usually not happy. Cause and effect understanding is something that I expect would come out of such an experience. In this case the point, for me, is that the cause is closed-mindedness and the effect is non-thinking bigotry. It is one thing for someone to 'walk the straight and narrow' in their own lives...quite another for one to impose one's understanding of 'the straight and narrow' onto another's life. Which is the basis of any good cult, btw.

The Word of God is the Will of God
CoolWaters replied to Belle's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Biblically speaking, the Word of God is Jesus. What is God's will? To try and contain it in a book that was 'written' with no particular point because it was never a book to begin with, but a collection of letters and opinions and recountings, is like trying to contain the ocean in cupped hands. IMO. Great thread Thelma Darlene, my dear. :D -
Do you remember the first time you decided to turn off your brain?
CoolWaters replied to tonto's topic in About The Way
The very first time I decided to turn off my brain for twi... I was 16yo...my twig leader and his 'wife' (later found out they were married, but not to each other) wanted a 3some...and explained to me how I would understand 'brotherly love' far better if I would participate. After that, any thinking on my part was suspect...because of what I did to that poor couple. Sigh. -
Black/white tunnel vision thinking...the very thing that made the cult attractive in the first place... Not to mention the inability to take control of one's life and change the channel... What blows my mind is how much complaining is done about how twi was always in one's business and damning anybody for anything that wasn't up to twi snuff... Then along come the anti homo threads, the anti wiccan threads, the anti welfare threads, the anti this and anti that threads. You can take the person out of the cult, but can you take the cult out of the person? My point? WTF does it matter? Gay people have always existed and always will exist. Same as poor people, pagan people, fat people, 'ugly' people, etc, etc. Declaring such people as 'ungodly' or 'unAmerican' or somehow otherwise 'unworthy' leads only to violence. Didn't we learn that in the cult? And how damn stupid can a person get if their minds are so closed that they REFUSE to consider the views, feelings, artistic talents, etc of someone/something they don't agree with? I mean, with that kind of thinking our maps would show us the edge of the world and our religions would be centered around how to keep from falling off or how to fall off correctly. Duh people. First do no harm. If one can accomplish that, then maybe one will have enough time to tackle one's inferiors. And those who think that they are soooooooooo smart applying such logic to lcm, murderers, rapists, etc... Take a few courses in logic. (Yes...I'm in a mood...and I'm tired of shutting up just to avoid conflict. If I offended somebody...Good! Maybe they'll look at themselves in a mirror sometime and figure they've got enough to worry about.)

Well hey there Edi! Good to see you around again. We moved to KCK about 18 months ago. I'm pretty sure I've gotten over my fear of riding around town with an extwi person...so maybe we can try to get to know one another again? I mean, all in all, if there was a demon or a curse involved, I think it's gone now. :D My email is in my profile.

So then I get to be... COOL Dove. :D

I saw about 1/2 of the show...and the 1/2 I saw I thought he handled very well. He specifically steered away from making any judgments concerning religious beliefs/understandings...but he did keep making fun of psychics. That backfired on him when he asked one of the guests if what he said to her made any sense. She replied, "What you said to me was exactly what the psychic said to me." Dr Phil was stumped. LOL! The president, or vp or something, of one of Dr Phil's BOD is a psychiatrist that has extensive training in not only psychiatry, but also in how religions come into play concerning psychiatry. He is also one of the after-show therapists that Dr Phil uses in difficult/extreme cases. Anyway, this man was on the 'possession' show and spoke eloquently about learning the difference between what is spiritual and, therefore, out of one's control, and what is terrestrial and, therefore, can be dealt with 'in this realm', so to speak. He didn't say it just like that, but that is the gist I got...especially since his experience with Shaman around the world was cited by Dr Phil during the show. Anyway, much of what I do when I'm working with people with similar issues is to help them 'peel back the layers' and find out the original trigger incident...and that's pretty much the upshot of the show. IMO. :D

It will be my 26th wedding anniversary. :D Hiya Roy...good to see you. :)

OMG!!!! I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants! My favorite: Q: Why do men whistle when they are sitting on the toilet? A: It helps them remember which end they need to wipe. LMAO!!!!!

Great word, shaz! Really great because one can get close to its meaning by figuring out the word itself. Unlike that word above. Sheesh! LOL And I am on ISC every day for at least two hours. My handle was CoolWaters until I was getting bugged to death by a couple of folks who kept changing their handles so my 'no play' list couldn't filter them out. Now my handle is ForFun. I think we've been trying to hook up and play some Scrabble there for a long, long time...haven't we? LOL

LMAO!!!! These are great! It's always been awkward to me to let a guy know...and even more awkward to not let him know. Sigh. Some I've used: XYZ (examine your zipper...something I learned in kindergarten and still use with my son, my hubs, my dad, my brother, my brother-in-law, my sons-in-law...but nobody else because nobody else knows what I'm trying to tell them lol) I see London, I see France, I see something hanging out of your pants (junior high slam) I see you are/are not possibly Jewish (high school suave...or so we thought...lol) Don't stick that thing out unless you plan to use it! (college flirt/insult)
