WhiteDove you said, Sigh. I guess I shoulda listened to my mother...
-
Look pond, You said, "Tthe reason you keep NOT telling me has nothing to do with me..." Yes it does. If you thought for one minute that I ever said or insinuated that 'god gave Herod the worms' it is most certainly because you heard that in your own head because I never said it or implied it. You said, "it is all about the fact it is not written there at all." Duh. You said, "call me all the names you want..." I NEVER called you names. You said, ".. whatever you need to do to avoid putting it down yourself ..." Huh? You said, "it does NOT say that God gave Herod the worms at all ." Again, DUH. You said, "You just wish it did to avoid admiting your wrong,". Again, I didn't say it said that...YOU did. You said, "about your reference on how God kills people." OK, pond, if you think that, have a blast. Obviously it doesn't matter at all what anybody...God or otherwise...says in plain English...you're going to make things up in your head and go from there.

WD...puhleeze! Now you can nitpick all day about who Jesus was talking to here...the point is not who he was talking to, but what he was saying. LMAO!!! Sorry Dove...coming from a dyed-in-wool twit, I find this statement hilarious. After all...it's all about 'mathematical exactness'. Please, don't leave out the math on my part! I can do quadratic equations (and more) and I do teach mathematics. LMAO!!!! So why'd ya leave and turn to twi? Obviously you can't...otherwise you wouldn't give an ear to immoral teachers...which is what the truth instructs...and which is what you have not learned in all of your years 'benefiting' from the truth (which I think is a very telling choice of words, btw).

Helluva price for a weed.

Yeah. So true. Sigh. So I guess the issue isn't the Doctrinal Forum so much as why is my thread there? LOL

pond, WHAT is a person suppose to study? The bible. Right? HOW does one study the bible? By reading it, comparing verses with verses, context with context, words with words. Right? Or are you implying that there are other books one needs to be able to study the bible? And btw...if you can't understand simple english for yourself, I'm not going to interpret it for you...because I don't buy into that any longer. Re-read that scripture and see if you can figure out what it says. You've missed it twice already.
-
Charles Manson probably can add 1 and 1. I'll bet Charles Manson cannot do quadratic equations. So? Well, adding 1 and 1 is elementary and is probably the most math he'll ever need in life. BUT that doesn't mean Charles Manson has an understanding of mathematics...it just means he can count his fingers and toes. Quoting scripture is like adding 1 and 1...it's elementary and the most truth most people will ever need in life. BUT it doesn't mean that one has an understanding of the truth...it just means one can memorize scripture. The whole purpose of TEACHING is to impart understanding. If a teacher does not understand what he/she is teaching, then they are not teaching at all...they are simply imparting their own lack. How do Christians know if a bible teacher has an understanding of the bible? The teacher's fruit manifested in the teacher's life. If the fruit is bad, then one knows for a certainty that the teacher has no understanding of the truth...and should, therefore, not listen to a thing that teacher has to say. That's what the bible says, anyway.

pond, Your last sentence above says, "study the scripture to understand its many facets and all knowing truth". Your first sentence from your last post says, "that is why one can NOT just read the bible and get the understanding of Jesus heart and purpose or God love for His creation." Either you can read the bible and "understand its many facets and all knowing truth" or you can't "just read the bible and get the understanding". Which is it?
-
Everything else one says after a statement like that is suspect at best...beguiling at worst.
-
Because it is what we should strive for in our life. BUT it does not define truth as Oak recognized, it is a seperate issue. This is not hard to grasp - I'll say it again. Truth is truth it does not change based upon the morals of those speaking. It is not effected by their actions. 1+1 =2 will remain true if it is said by a teacher, a rapist, a priest, or a thief. Their morals have no bearing on the fact that it is true. Now if you will listen to them ,it may have bearing depending on your choice. But it does not change the truth in their statement. WD! I am surprised at you. Do you really believe that all the scriptures that instruct us to 'test the spirits', 'follow not those who', 'believe not those who', etc etc are there for no real reason? I mean, seriously, why have any part of the bible besides Romans 10:9 if all the rest of the 'instruction in righteousness' has no defining impact on truth?
-
There are many similar verses in the bible and I could do this all day...but I'd be told I lacked understanding, the bible didn't really mean what it said, etc. etc. Just like in pfal...

Tom...don't worry...there's plenty of furniture right here in this thread. Belle brought her own easy chair and dooj brought her own couch. Haul up yer fave lazy boy and have a relaxing sit-down! :D (Oh...people are bringing snacks and drinks, too...hint hint...hehehehe.)
-
So if we want people to know we're in chat...then are we gonna have to post in the Open forum that we're there? Many times I wait to see people show up in chat while I read the forums. If people don't know I'm there...or if I don't know people are there...they/I assume nobody is there and don't go in.
-
I'll second that! :) Yeah...my thread turned way too serious way too fast...which is fine...because there is a very serious issue in all of the funning...but the funning was fun... Hehehehe....
-
And Is all I can come up with... Which doesn't help my understanding at all! Oh! But in context it makes plenty of sense! Duh me!
-
So, WD, why does the bible make such a big deal about character, then? Especially the character of those who have/take authority over God's people?
-
OK...I'll give credit where credit is due. LOL My fave is: I literally believed myself into a state of unbelief just to prove the Law of Believing works [but now I don't believe it works] I won't snag that one because I think you should use it because it's yours. :D
-
Didn't I read somewhere that faith without works is dead?
-
Paw...please give me a day's notice so's I can get some Depends...since I'll be ROFLMAOPIMP. Hehehehe.
-
lindy, I got stuck playing on that first site and totally forgot everything else. LOL TYVM for the links! Too many ideas but oh so fun. :D My hubs says my project is probably going to cost an arm and a leg, but he thinks that it's going to be worth it once it's done...if it ever gets off the ground...because he despises the very idea of spending more than $25 on a kitchen sink setup... Sigh. But I'll let you know if it ever goes.
-
Nothing is ever off topic in my threads Mo...I just mess with people sometimes. :D
-
Oh Hey!!!! My hubs just came up with a great one... SIT is also a dog command.
-
T-bone!!!! These are mahvelous!!!! Are you claiming them all or can I snag a few?
-
You've described waybrain through and through, rascal. So much of twi focuses on, "Look at that wrong over there! Quick now! If you see that wrong over there, you can't possibly see my wrong I'm perpetrating against you, your wife, and your children. So quick look at that wrong over there!" Proof of this mentality is right here in this thread. That's how twi 'handled the word'. That's how vpw handled other people's research. That's how twi avoids admitting any wrong-doing at all. And people who perpetuate this mindset? Well, they are twice the wolves of their 'teachers'. IMO.
-
Well! Since this thread got moved to "Doctrinal" I guess my gig is up. Sigh. My 'experiment' was to show people exactly how twi taught folks how to 'handle the word'. This thread was not intended as a doctrinal discussion. Sigh. Well, it was fun while it lasted... And it did what I wanted it to do. Thanks, OM, for your participation. Too bad your 'brothers in arms', so to speak, left you high and dry here all by yourself. There are no contestant prizes, though. Except, maybe, an epiphany or two.
