... Kinda answers the question as to why he lived to be almost 900 years old, hmmm?
-
Then again, you see videos of soldiers actually doing the goosestep variety of marching, and they seem to live with it. Or of people actually preferring to live in Muslim religious dictatorships, that they actually go rabid at the thought of not living that way. ... Go figure. --> Perhaps the rigid strictness gave a clue as to how immoral they actually were. The strictness only served to quell any dissent. Seems to me that in the religious world, the quality of what you get doesn't coincide with what you pay out, ... if ever. :(-->

Man, is that a blast from the past. What ever happened to them anyway?
-
Gotten from the book "Pale Blue Dot" by Carl Sagan, no doubt? Great book to read, as are all of his books.
-
Because he didn't go very far on the football team when he was going to Kansas State (or Univ.), apparently he is not a talented football player either.

Sweetpea, Here's a tip for you in your new window cleaning business: When working on windows on a tall building, ..... don't look down.

Wierwille you want these chairs string-lined up at? :D-->

Frankly Johniam, when folks here are saying that Martindale is insane, irrevocably or otherwise, I think that its just a matter of common sense not to take it so seriously to the clinical level. I know that nobody here is making that kind of professional judgement, and when YOU stop to think about it, you'd know that too. Groucho, Perhaps it was his own impotent way of attempting to deal with his wife's 'friendships'. He knows he can't do anything about Donna/Rosalie, so what does he do? Show the world that he still has the 'brass ones' by taking his anti-homosexual anger/frustrations out on those who he is able to afflict. All in all, sad. Very sad. :(-->
-
Here is another potential problem that I imagine asexuals have to deal with, and it could be potentially dangerous as well Being presumed homosexual when people don't see you coupled with someone of the opposite sex, and at least some of those people doing the presuming wind up being homophobic.
-
Johniam, now just stop and think how silly that sounds, ok? Because basically it would mean that if someone *were* professionally qualified to judge/diagnose LCM 'irrevocably insane' (i.e., a professional clinical psychologist/psychiatrist, for example), then that would mean that those same psychological/medical professionals can sit 'in God's judgement seat', as per your rendering. Stop and think about that, and see if you can't now see what's wrong with that picture, hmmm? And I got the photo from Googling for his pic, and uhh, ... took some creative liberties with it. :D--> Bad Garth. Bad, bad Garth!

Johniwas, The only thing missing that clearly showed that Loy Boy was 12 cans shy of a 6-pack was a glowing red neon sign on the front of his Herman Munster-sized forehead that flashes "CLINICALLY INSANE!" "This is your mind totally fried on drugs--even without the drugs. Any questions?"

"Mama! Where'd I put my Thanksgiving carving knife? ... The BIG one!" :D-->

:D--> LMAO!! Good one Outofdafog. Oughta be a David Letterman's Top 10 List. :D-->

Cool, If not any degrees of sin, then tell me please: Is there a degree between simply snapping at someone and committing mass murder? Which one has more death?
-
and Now just stop and think about the contradiction that Loy was spouting. Either A) you shouldn't go to college, or B) you shouldn't save up/get a loan for the money to go to college. Ummm, can't be both, ... right? From what I see here is that Loy was playing the "bleed the world for the money to go to college, and don't pay for it yourself, and make DAMN sure that you don't get a loan for it!" card, rather than the avoidance of college point blank. By the way, I also remember him teaching in times past (and not too distant either) that "believers need to be in the top professional positions in the world." It was part of his 'integrate, assimilate, *dominate*' (I think there was another word, but I forgot what it was, but what I have here is a general feel for what he taught) plan for 'getting the Word out'. Uhh, why else do you think that they were still running Word in Business conferences up until a few years ago?

Shellon, Nobody is saying that the stuff that you experienced in TWI 'never happened', but how what happened in TWI compares to what that other group did. Also keep in mind that just because you 'experienced it', doesn't make you the default expert, because there are others who also 'experienced' TWI like you did, and they come away with different interpretations/conclusions as to what it was, what was involved, and what they were able to do or not do (including going to college). And from what I've read in people's accounts here re: TWI, even during the 90s, leadership was looking for at least some of its members to attend college, because at least they could then get more high-earning members involved, those who could then pay a higher abundant sharing. So yeah, have a Bud, ... on me. :P-->
-
Okay, okay, never mind.
-
Now, now, no need to go ape, Shellon. Just take a deep breath, pop open a Bud Lite (or your preference of beer), relax, and just keep telling yourself, "It's just a thread on a message board. ... It's just a thread on a message board. ... It's just a thread on a message board. ..."
-
P-mosh, Now where did I say that TWI wasn't controlling, hmmm? What I did point out was the levels of control, and the differences between the two groups. Altho' I left in late 1985, even reading about the current accounts still leaves a significant gap between TWI and this other group.
-
Shellon, Sorry but I agree with MJ here. I mean, look at the differences here between the two groups, and yes, there are differences. Big ones. I know that there are quite a number of people here that wants to make TWI sound as bad and as 'cultish' as they possibly can (and yes, TWI has brought a lot of that on themselves via the abuses), but lets be clear as to what they are and are not guilty of. As well as to what a 'mind control cult' is, and as to what we think it ought to be. ... Because that's where the hype and emotion often lies.

Got a hot date tonight doncha, Cool ;)--> Oh, and you know what's missing from that little Singing in the Rain diddly? A lightening bolt ripping down and **frying** that frog. Roasted frogs legs, ..... mmmmmmm yummy!! :P--> :D-->

Galen (and others of you who are opposed to homosexuality), Got a question for you, and I'd like for you folks to think about this question really good before you answer, and please spare me the vague song-and-dance of "Well, God still wants us to love everybody." non-answer, OK? The phrase "in your face". I've seen it bandied about (like a lot of other generalities are) like its something that an intrusive act that homosexuals do to you, yet it's never really clearly defined what the hell it means. So tell me, in it's meaning, does "in your face" include them publically standing up for their rights and for equal protection under the law? Does it include them trying to get society to acknowledge that they exist/they are equal human beings too, rather than to be entities to be swept under the rug as something to be ashamed of and despised? That they won't go for that? Is all that included in the term "in your face"? ... Hmmmm? Oh what the hell, I've got Yet Another Question? What if it were Christians being treated in such manner by society/law? (You know, as illustrated in the oft-used refrain about Christians being 'persecuted by the world!', ... right?) And what if Christians took a challenging response to that in standing up for their rights, that other people (ya know, the unbelievers? ;)--> *booo* *hiss*) might interpret as ... 'getting in your face'? Kinda like: "Hey look, I can live with those Christians, if they didn't take an *in your face* attitude about having their religion portrayed in public, where other people can see them!" How about that? Hmmm? Doesn't this remind anybody about that old phrase back in the 60's, "Hey! Some of my best friends are black! (insert nervous laughter here) ... Just don't really want them living in our neighborhood, ... would you? Property values, doncha know. ;)-->" (Makes a note to self: Rent "Look Who's Coming to Dinner!" this weekend.
