I know that I for one would have never gone that far with TWI, not by a long shot. Heck, I know of a good many folks in TWI back then who wouldn't have gone that far either.

That 'Image hosted by Angelfire' logo is usually what you see instead of the picture when you host your images with them, and you try to link to the pic from another site. <_<

Is man REALLY born dead, spiritually?
GarthP2000 replied to Ham's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Allan, And your scientific and verifiable source(s) for this is ..... ? And spare us the so-called Creationist 'authorities' like Kent Hovind please. It's folks like him that also give us the spew that light has been slowing down over the last 6000 years, thus making the stars look far older than they really are, ... and then try to palm off that stuff as 'genuine science'. Some of us don't have a strong stomach for that sort of thing, thank you. -
... all of which can lead to a rather dangerous situation, ... and a potential lawsuit. You might want to mention this to the frugal boss, lest he forget that hiring attorneys to deal with situations like this ain't exactly frugal, ... if ya know what I mean. This is one reason (I believe) why cheap bosses/companies like this, despite their pinching pennies and shortchanging their employees/customers, never become thriving & successful companies like Microsoft or HP? And the thing is, they haven't got a clue as to this.

No sweat Hammeroni. B) And I hope I didn't tick you off by my (rather poor) attempt at a little humor. Peace?

Uh ohh! Looks like Smikeol has pushed someone over the edge at last.

VPW's Source for the Law of Believing
GarthP2000 replied to Bob's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Does ... does ... this mean that Smikeol is just about ready to post his own "I'm leaving Greasespot for *good* 'cuz nobody wants to hear my precioussssss God Breathed PFAL any more!!" post/thread?? Huh? Huh? (GarthP readies his own "Don't let the door hit you on your preciousssss on your way out" post if and when that happens.) :D Smikeol leaving Gresespot. ((snif)) -
Likeaeagle, No, I don't think that it would be tacky at all, providing that its professionally written and the layout works well with the site's design. If you are referring to what place to host your website, places like Google and Yahoo are (usually) for beginner and personal web sites. Its usually not a good idea for a business to utilize such sites. Ask your neice (or some other knowledgeable person that you know) if she/they know of a good web hosting firm that has decent rates and good tech support to host your site. Also, I suggest you get your own domain name for your site, as domain names (like www.loanofficer.com) are more professional looking than (www.google.com/~loanofficer/index.html). Hope this helps.

Ie., first shake hands, then come out fighting. :) It does kinda puts the civil (altho' shallow) tone to the conflict, ehh? ... Maybe that's what they needed for all those religious-based wars that they had in Europe centuries ago.

Jerry, I just *cannot* believe that you used The Bible Code as an example of solid prophecy. Heck man, why don't you use the New York Times crossword puzzle? That's basically how the Bible Code uses the Bible -- a freekin' crossword puzzle used for interpretation.

VPW's Source for the Law of Believing
GarthP2000 replied to Bob's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
So apparently the first 10 pages aren't God Breathed, ehh? What, did VPW have to have a running start to get that in tune with God first? -
Apparently Igotout never saw that scene from Wayne's World where Wayne and Garth fell down at Alice Cooper's feet exclaiming "We're not worthy!! We're not worthy!!" :D

Mark, You bring up various valid responses and rebuttals, as well as those that might not be so valid. One of my questions for you is, how much of this defense is based on 1) actual facts, irrelevent to who looks good (or not so good) by said facts, as opposed to 2) defense based on loyalty and obligation to the Church that you are now a member of? Heck, you even don't have to answer; just think about the question if you want. But keep in mind that defenses based on loyalty to the organization/group does little, if any, to address the actual facts related to the topic. Another question I have for you is that even while the Church was reading the scriptures to the congregations through the years, what about encouraging the individual members of the congregations to read (and interpret) the scriptures for themselves, as well as teaching the members how to read (particularly during the Middle Ages, when the illiteracy rate was so damn high) as well as providing them with a good education? I mean, you consider the overall excellence of Catholic schools in education nowadays, why wasn't that pursued back then? If you would be so kind as to deal with these questions.

..... And? :D -
Well now, we all know why Smikeol is miffed this morning now, don't we? And I daresay it isn't over Pirate's joke either. (Hint. It might be related to our non-acceptance of the 'god breathed piffle'. ;))

Actually we were thinking along the lines of the golem with his preciouuusssss. (Scrounging around for that Smikeol pic again) Somehow Mike, if I were in Thomas' place, I wouldn't feel that sure and secure. But hey, that's me. I mean, you _did_ kinda go off the emotional diving board several posts back from your usual jovial self. (And what was it with the red font that you aimed in my direction a post or so back, hmmm? Was that a warning of some kind? :o ... ;)) And face it Mike, you weren't 'dragged' into any of the threads here. You (as usual) just jump right in and go to town, so your supposed appearance of 'reluctance' just doesn't wash. Dave, I believe its spelled 'elitism'. :) Enjoy! -
... which would be even more of a dangerous blowhard than the tropical storm. :D

Apparently honest, probing, and challenging questions that ask for a straightforward answer instead of a dodge doesn't fit the definition of 'civil questions' for you Mike. -

      WHOOOOO HOOOOO!!! Hoooo hahahhahaha! Oh this is rich! ..... This coming from the same guy who refuses to consider *any* possibility that his take on PFAL could ever be wrong. Ever!! Nyuk nyuk nyuk! ... Good one, Smikeol, good one. Gonna have to wipe the coffee off of my screen now. -
Hhhmmmmmm, ... and usually you get the standard exemption excuse (read 'song-and-dance') from a lot of 'cult experts' of "Well, it doesn't matter what one's religious beliefs are when it comes to defining a dangerous, mind controlling cult", yet how many times does adherance to orthodoxy/mainstream doctrines come into play when defining the aforementioned 'dangerous cults', particularly when the term 'mind control' is thrown in to really stir up the fear factor. We get this same kind of shoddy work of definition/understanding in Wierwille's 'research', and we rightfully nail it as garbage. (Well most of us do anyway). ... Why not apply that same standard here?
-
Hhmmmmm, and yet this belief system, with all of its enigmas (that supposedly portray God's wisdom of 'confounding the wise with the foolish', so to speak), is one where, if someone does not accept said enigma'd belief system, they wind up in the flames of hell. Never mind whatever reasonable and valid complaints about the aforementioned enigmas might be made by the unbelievers when they don't join. "Join my group of flawed, controlling, browbeat---err, uhm, 'emigmatic' church ... or burn, infidel!" Yah! I can see THAT on a (ahem) 'green card'. Indeed I can.
