  1. T-Bone, Most of the atheists/agnostics I've talked to who were once religious haven't left Christianity/religion because of it was less focused on God and more on themselves, but on what they regard as the nonsensical concepts of the belief system that they just couldn't accept, or the strict demands to believe in the doctrine (or else burn in hell), or even whatever psychological/other forms of abuse they endured while they were in the religious stages of their lives. The things one finds out and the misconceptions that one gets cleared up when one _actually talks to and gets to know_ where the unbelievers are really coming from re: this kind of topic, hmmm? That's what I've come to learn. <_<
  2. That is the one big reason for many, many people, Belle. And frankly, its a reason that many religious leaders use to the max to keep people in line. Much like VPW and LCM. Now how in the dickens that kind of fear driven motivation can be regarded as 'godly' is beyond me. Thankfully, its a motivation that no longer has any control over yours truly. ... Perhaps there are others here that can take a good long look at that kind of motivation as well.
  3. ... wasn't there a 'spirit of forgetfulness' too? I ferget.
  4. Allan, Doesn't look to me like she was the one throwing the stones here. <_<
  5. Protecting a democracy from being exterminated by a bunch of Islamo-facists who have no sense of the values of freedom or democracy whatsoever? Yeah, I think that's valuable to protect. Now I don't go along with the 'biblical end times' reason for protecting Isreal, but I do go along with the reason I just gave. Like it being the same reason why we fought Nazi Germany, the Empire of Japan, etc. And they cost us billions too. ... And I think that the results are obvious, don't you? And keep in mind, that the number of U.S. lives lost to protecting Isreal aren't near the amount that you seem to think it is. Nowhere near at all.
  6. Moony, Unless you changed the color of your hair the last time I saw ya, you aren't blond, but a brunette. And a pretty one at that. :)
  7. ... and that lady is out driving these days. That scares me! I can imagine that the Onstar guy was sooooooo tempted to ridicule her right there on the spot too. .... I know I would.
  8. So why is it 'a bad thing' that we, because of a defense treaty that we signed with Isreal, who is regarded by many, both Republican and Democrat, to be a very good friend of the United States, should defend Isreal? Any more than we would defend Great Britian, or Japan, or any other of the countries that are allied with the United States? ... That's what friends do, Oldiesman. Go to the defense of those whom we regard as our friends when they are attacked. Or doesn't the Word have something to say about that? Your answer was NOT reasonable, any more than VPW's or LCMs disregard for Isreal.
  9. (Damn! Caught on the window size situation. I'll just go into my Dubya look like the one he had when he was notified of the attack while he was reading that kindergarten book :D) Uhhh uhhhh, .... the intelligence information that I got about Live Chat was flawed. Yeah! Yeah! That's it! ..... Ummm, Live Chat is still a threat to our democracy and way of life. .... Al Gore claimed that he invented Live Chat, like he did the internet. ....... Damn, my communications box hidden in my suit just fizzed out. ..... Oh well, there's always 2008.

    Cat farts

Bird farts ehh? So what do they sound like? ... Squeeks?
  11. As head of the Flash Chat for Prez Campaign Committee, I *urge* all faithful and patriotic GSers to vote for Flash Chat. Why, you may ask? Well in short ... Live Chat SUX! I mean really, Flash chat has a bigger screen, more goodies, custom made color schemes (why you can even have one in red, white and blue!), etc., And what does Live Chat offer? It loads slower, smaller screen, and overall, its feel is more difficult and constraining. Plus, from the techie side of things, Flash makes better applets than Java does. So come on, get out and vote Flash Chat!
  12. Dave, I seconds that motion! The guy (Geer) is two words: in sane. His 'thoughts' (term loosely used here) even beats the 'theory' I once heard in TWI back in 1985 about since light is coming from the monitor, that it means that the computer has its own form of life, thus making it devilish. Uhhh, for one thing, the light is coming from the monitor, not the computer. And that isn't the only thing wrong with that swill. Amazing, as I look back and consider what I used to think was spouted off as science!
  13. Young children raised under the Nazi regime in 1930s Germany were often 'well behaved' and 'bright' too. Children who were/are raised in any kind of authoritarian/totalitarian setting are often the same way. It remains to be seen how much they can adapt to the real world, even in a university setting, what with all of its undisciplined chaos and freedom. See how 'bright' and 'well behaved' they remain then. <_<
  14. So when is the voting going to conclude? Will there be a run off? And will there be any hanging chads to count, and will Raf count them? Inquiring minds wanna know!

    Cat farts

ROFLMAO!! Ron, have you tried lighting them? The farts that is. Maybe it won't do much for your cat (except scare the beejesus out of it , maybe send it zooming off like a bottle rocket), but you just might get a good laugh ... or you could just cork it. ... the cat, that is. I have 2 cats myself, and I think that, after they saw me type this, they ran off and hid.
  16. Didn't I see that chair for sale on Ebay once? Anywho, I never could see how someone could sit comfortably in a chair like that. Give me a E-Z-Boy recliner instead. Now THERE is a chair of honor for you. ... That, and a wide screen digital TV, 4 large pizzas, and a keg o' beer. Fit for THE king.

    Forum Question

Ya know, Dmiller, we ought to make you the Grande Gatekeeper of the Hallowed Doctrinal Halls. Charge everybody $5.00 per post. Great way to determine their 'spurchiality'. Weed out the common, polemic infidels. (looks about and whistles innocently ) Make sure however, that the proceeds go to the Research and Movement of THE's Word.

    Forum Question

Not me. I have more class than that. My sources of scrawl are your more mainstream authority: old billboards and neon signs. :D
  19. Oldies, And since when was it specifically and biblically noted that it had to be a present danger, hmmm? And keep in mind that there are plenty of past examples of bad behavior that we can keep mindful of. Or does 'The Word' prohibit us from doing just that? <_<
  20. T-Bone, No worries. I was just focusing on the man made characteristic of it, thus putting a more realistic perspective on what doctrine and dogma and related items are and always have been. And as a result, shows why it's not, and never has been, some heniously offensive and immoral thing to question, publically challenge, and even to walk away from a doctrine that one no longer accepts.
  21. American Idol is a lot like the show that precedded it about 15-20 years ago: Star Search, in that its nothing more than an overglorified (and quite desperate, or so it seems) Want Ads for Hollywood.
  22. Very revealing and brutally honest depiction of the concept of dogma and doctrine, T-Bone. Unfortunately over the many years, there were, and still are some who seem to forget that depiction, and go to treat dogma/doctrine as far more than what it really is, and give it the undue regard/reverence that it doesn't deserve. Which goes a long way towards explaining why religious persecution often rears its ugly head, and why many have been murdered for it over the centuries. <_<
  23. One positive thing about threads like this, is it shows the classic textbook case (Smikeol) of what delusion really is. Somebody ought to submit all of his PFAL-is-God-breathed related threads to the American Psychiatric Association for distribution to various medical colleges & universities for educational purposes.
  24. ... that every now and then, I see some thread about "Would you ever go back to TWI?" or "What would tempt you? (to work at TWI)" or some such related topic. I just have to laugh when I see these threads, as it ought to be obvious to even the most brain dead that TWI has lost whatever ((cough)) 'godliness' it (might) have had, and that too bad, so sad, it ain't never gonna go back, even back to the "good ol' days". <_< As Bones would say on Star Trek, "He's dead, Jim!". TWI, as we once knew it as a place of fun and happiness (where ever that ever was) is gone. Dead. Kaput! Anybody who still has some threads of hope that the golden days will somehow return is in serious need of professional help. ... Like there aren't other alternatives that are even a lot better than TWI ever was?? Hokey Smokes!
  25. That's why I 'waste' all my time and money on THE.
