  1. What am I saying by this: "Why can't many people, when they are being s-o-o-o patriotic, avoid shutting their brains OFF while they are 'saluting the flag'?" Ie., why can't people leave their brains ON (ie., thinking for themselves) when patriotic sounding propaganda gets trumpeted? For example, in this thread, it was illustrated (and _presumed_) that the media spends as little coverage as possible on the folks that fight, and die, for our country. I mean, consider this line: Gives that kind of impression, doesn't it? Shame on the media that doesn't (supposedly) seem to give a rats azz about our fighting men and women. And how many times has that crap been thrown at the media, and people automatically swallow it up, and without one ounce of independent thought, hmmmm? ... That is but one example what I mean by "Why can't many people, when they are being s-o-o-o patriotic, avoid shutting their brains OFF while they are 'saluting the flag'?" I'll tell you this. I believe that if we didn't have the kind of media that we do, even as flawed as it plainly is, ..... why, we might instead have an actual State run media system (ohh, like Tass under the old Soviet Union). Now THERE was a media type to loathe, I tell you.
  2. Why is it that the media gets slammed for following after Micheal Jackson's every point surrounding his death, particularly since that's what the vast majority of the American populace wants, _including_ those who consider themselves patriotic wants? ... How about the death of celebrities like Farrah Fawcett? That got _nowhere_ the amount of coverage that Jacko got. Oh by the way, what about the hundreds of other soldiers who died for their country who's deaths and burial and honor _were_ covered by that dasterdly, UnAmurican, and leftist media, ..... hhmmmm? Why can't many people, when they are being s-o-o-o patriotic, avoid shutting their brains OFF while they are 'saluting the flag'? <_<
  3. P-Mosh, I think that Rascal was referring to Obama when she said "His beginnings were as humble as most of ours." And then she contrasted him with Lush when she said "He didn`t start out as a golf playing cigar smoking rich guy from fla." Just for your info. :)
  4. Darrell, Have you ever known a guy in the 6th Corp by the name of Seth Weiss? He had a deformed right arm, and (pretty much) had a humorous and 'glad-to-know-ya' demeanor about him. He was my W.O.W. branch leader when I was out WOW during 76-77, and I heard some rumors that he didn't complete the Corps program? Can you fill in the blanks as much as you can for me please? Thanks! :)
  5. How about it's sister method, ... B.L.O.W. Me?

    Caption Contest

I'm not even gonna touch _that_ one with a 'seven incher'. ;)
  7. Good one, Jeff! Good one. You're right too, as I have NEVER heard about someone 'hearing' God telling them what he did NOT say to them, things that they attribute to God anyway.

    Shout Box

Speaking of the Shout Box, ....... ....... where is it? Or the Chat room for that matter? :( Post Update: Ok, NOW I see the thread titled 'Post Upgrade Issues' detailing these very gripes. Or, as the Saturday Night Lady would say, .... "Never mind!"
  9. Uhhh, ... how about being concerned with both, and in their respective contexts. 1) TWI, while MUCH smaller than Islam, has affected just about everybody here in a lot more ways and intensity than Islam has overall. 2) While Islam reaches and has affected a lot more people overall, including many who have never heard of TWI. So, as you can see, each group has affected (hurt) different people in different contexts, so it really doesn't have to be a one or other situation. By the way, very nice redesign of the board, Paw; altho' the smiley interface still needs some work. ;)
  10. The Cos' gives an alternative view as far as God talking to people: RIGHT!! :B)
  11. Huh! I saw this on his twitter page: "Training a new hire on the best collection method I have ever seen. " Oh really, Harve? And what would that be, I wonder? ... pass the 'Horn O' Plenty' and give them Martindale's tirade about either they give the 'abundant sharing' to the collection agency, ... or God won't spit in their direction? :P
  12. Hey. Hey! HEY! I happen to _like_ low rent. ... I can't afford that high rent, ya know.
  13. Another note to Socks: Make sure that the the charge of a person being 'wrong' is based upon verifiable fact, rather than just on the belief that they are wrong. ... I mean, two people can honestly believe that they are right or have two different opinions they believe in that they each have arrived at honestly. ;)
  14. Socks, GS standards aren't any worse than society's at large, or even worse than many other boards that I have seen. As a matter of fact, I've seen Paw be more strict here than a lot of other places elsewhere. And really, given what I honestly feel about Weirwille (as well as most people around here), I've gone as far as I'm going to go in the 'civilized' direction. (Remember what I said re: Churchill? Look up some of his comments, particularly where he is talking about the people whom he had no respect for, or even some of his political opponents! ... You gonna consider him a 'bottom feeder' too? Gotta be consistent here now.) And say 'Hi!' to Oldies for me, ok? ;)
  15. ((this post revised after thinking thru my initial rezounding zinger using my oft used 'diplomatic manner' ;) that, hell, I think I ought to copyright © :D )) Ok folks. How about this Revision 2, 'politically correct', non-specific group offending, alternative Title for VPW: True, it is indeed quite a mouthful, but hey, at least it isn't a swipe at a race/class/nationality of people. Unless you think that sexually abusive, tyrannical, malevolent, arrogant, NeoNazis who have one helluva drinking problem constitutes a class. Then, I'm afraid I just can't help ya. Then I'll have to go back to my rezounding zingers using my oft used 'diplomatic manner'. ;) How's that for all of you?
  16. Bluze, Hehehe, look who's talking. ... only if he does the same things Wierwille did. Then yeah, I'd call him that, ... in a heartbeat, ... then would give him a severe re-enactment of D-Day on his a** if he tried to 'kick my teeth in'. ... Remember, _we_ beat _them_ back in '45. Go read again what I posted earlier on why I use that term against Wierwille, and think about what you read. If I were using that term against Germans in general, _then_ you'd have a good point. Also, if you'll remember your WWI and WWII history, we used that term against German soldiers of the German nation. Specifically. Rather than (in most cases) the entire German people. (Well, during WWI, the prejudice was more broad in that many Germans during that period were discriminated against.) But I'll bet if you ask any WWII vet what he called the German enemy back then, he'd say 'kraut', and (mostly) he wouldn't apologize about it. Keep in mind that you can't compare the German people and say, the Blacks, and that for the reason I gave before. And German culture helps to color them that way too; having authority strongly engrained in their culture and all that. (Feh! Weirwille's germanic origins and cultural influence reflecting all that has been mentioned many a time on this board, and not _once_ have you whined about slurs/cultural stereotyping then. Huh?? What gives on that? <_< ) No, not in this case, and not in how I specifically and _exclusively_ used it against Wierwille. And if your Germanic cousin-in-law can't stand me referring to Wierwille alone as a kraut, for all the reasons that I gave, ... tough. And since (I am going to presume) he is not the same kind of sexually abusive, tyrannical, malvolent, arrogant, NeoNazi that Wierwille was, ... he shouldn't have any problem with it. I stand by what I say. ... Hell, Wierwille is getting off easy. P.S., here's one way of looking at it. Think of 'kraut' as meaning a 'slimeball of a German'. Wierwille _was_ of German stock, and he _was_ a slimeball. ... Problem solved. Socks, There are and have been a lot of people of intelligence (and thank you for the compliment, BTW) who let fly with scathing remarks and 'slurs' when they honestly felt the target was deserving of such. Ever listen to some of Winston Churchill's remarks against those he had no respect for? ... And for good reason? ... Ohhh, like the terms he used against Hitler maybe? ... Miss Manners he was _not_! And I seriously doubt that he viewed himself as being brought down because of it. Sometimes you got to hammer the scum for what they are. Perfect and appropriate for VPW. Well, I tell ya. If they allowed for the same kind of abusive and malevolent crap that VPW allowed for, I'd be calling them a bunch of krauts too on that conference call. ... And without apology either.
  17. Socks, You know why your argument, skillfully argued be it that, ... fails? Because the German people, as a whole, didn't go thru centuries of enslavement, and being depicted as a 'scientifically' and 'biblically' inferior race. The Black race did. And that ain't PC either; that's historical fact. Ie., if Wierwille was black, I would not have used the N word, mainly for that reason. And as per someone who might want to 'kick my head in' because I am referring to Wierwille as the aforementioned 'kraut' term, I say ... "Go for it!" ... I have a nasty habit of kicking back.
  18. Usually browsers have their version number listed when you click the menu item 'Help', then 'About ...'. A dialog box will then appear showing you the info you're looking for.
  19. Bluze and Linda, My insult was specifically aimed at Wierwille. And ONLY Wierwille. And no other German (or anyone else for that matter) BUT Wierwille. So I think that the rest of the German populace can survive and thrive despite my 'small mindedness'. You'll live. And that is all I have to say about the matter.
  20. ... Ie., he was a kraut. Now when I hear from the National Association for the Advancement of Germanic Peoples (NAAGP) complaining that I have committed a Hate Crime against Der Fatherland by such heinous verbiage, ... ... I'll still call him ... a kraut. P.S., besides, think of all the dogs who would be insulted because I would have made a derogatory remark about their butts, and the pimples thereon, by comparing them to VPW, ... hhmmm? :P
  21. Sorry Bluze, but VPW deserves that term, ... at the very *least*! After what he's done to people. And he deserves worse terms, but Paw would ban me for usage of said terms. ... Why don't you ask Excathedera if what I say about VPW is inappropriate. <_< So kraut will have to do for the time being.
