Sunesis, ((snickers)) Look who's talking, lady. Look who's talking. And many times you don't even see it. And the same arguments for supernatural occurances could be said re: other characters in the Bible. Or other characters in other religions, and the respective followers believe in them just as much as you do yours. Uuhhmmm, ... you don't? (For an example of why I voice my doubt about this, check out your posts re: Obama, ... then come back and lie to me again.) Tell ya what. You look at the critter you see in the mirror, and tell her exactly that, m-kay? Mark, ((here comes the onslaught, ... ;) )) You, no doubt, have read in that letter where Jefferson explains _why_ there is the 1st Amendment. So that it supports separation of church and state. And, (IMNSHO) for it to be effective, that wall must go _both_ ways. Has to, or else that 'wall' is a sham. And frankly, if your church (or any other) _needs_ the support of the government in order for it to carry out its doctrine, well, as Ben Franklin once said: Think about that one for a moment. How about _that_ as being a proper usage of said wall.

Can you name us _any_ theocracy that has never been a 'natural man theocracy'? ... Didn't think so. Oh by the way, naming the one where Christ comes back, is naming one that is in 'promise' only. Ie., according to your religious teaching. ... And its been around 2,000 years since the time of Christ. Maybe that's why we keep hearing of all these End Times prophecies of Christ's return being Just Around the Corner, again and again. People kinda get tired after waiting and waiting, and "He hasn't come back yet.", so they start to disperse from the teaching, only to have the preachers get their attention back by going "Ohh look! According to such-and-such Prophecy, He's coming back Real Soon Now!", and everybody comes back to church. Talk about your ultimate scams! <_<

(snif) ... Does that mean that Indianapolis has been ... cast out unto darkness?? I mean, the Lynn's and other Indy believers have been there like ... forever! Disclaimer: If you can't tell by now, I was just being facetious. <_<

Fine, so I'll leave out the screaming then. ... Satisfied?

... so are drug kingpins in South America and Mexico. What's your point? <_<
-
Roy, Just a question, if I may. ... What are you going to do if/when the calendar hits 2028, ... ... and you're still living? Just a question. ;)

Is it me, or is there a hidden Wayfer apologist coming along behind every one of you guy's posts, and flicking the negative red button? (BTW, I flicked all the green buttons by your names, so as to help negate such trolling behavior.)

Contrary to Calvinist and other fundy dogma, human nature does not equal evil nature. I dropped that outdated, outmoded, and downright controlling steaming pile of excrement a l-o-n-g time ago.

Uuummm, ... I believe that the card I signed was green. ... And that the most I got outta my first class was watching the tape reel go round and around ... and around ... and around ... and around ... and around ... Oh yeah, and that the designer of those skinny black ties should be strung up and *shot*! Outside of that, ... Nope. Nuthin'.

Roy, Apparently 'God' Obama (<-- please notice the sarcasm there, ok? It's deserved. <_< ) is endeavoring to answer questions re: the topics people are getting all upset about, like the following website. ... Disclaimer: The following site comes from that 'den of deception' itself: The White House. But since you _are_ concerned with how 'God' Obama is or should be addressing the issue, well my good man, its only fair that such a source be considered in your concerns. ... Beware! You've been advised. Oh by the way, getting upset at speakers who are trying to explain why 'God' Obama's health care reform package will work, to the point of drowning them out, ... is NOT 'God' Obama's fault. It's the fault of the shouters. And furthermore, trying to portray 'God' Obama as some sort of censor against The First Amendment because he and others are against this sort of Incitement to Riot (which is _not_ covered by the First Amendment by the way -- sorry) is totally retarded. (And I don't use the word retarded in its clinical sense either! <_< )

Hhmmm, talk about being low down, ... or is it down low? ;)

Rascal, How about when fundy groups tell you: 1) if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are lost and damned for all eternity? (That's a helluva lot more dire situation than being a greasespot by midnight, wouldn't you say?) 2) that you should not be supportive of homosexuals or homosexual rights, such as same sex marriage? (And we all know what Craigger's spewed re: homosexuals, hmmm?) 3) (often) tell you that being a political/cultural liberal is going against God's Laws or some other such claptrap? (Yes Virginia, we all have seen one form or another of this _controlling_ and _abusive_ behavior from a lot of fundies. Try reading Politicks and Tacks or other political boards if you don't believe me.) Or how about when someone decides to leave the church, give up the gospel, or (((shudders))) becomes an atheist? (OMG OMG OMG) I could show you account after account of those who walked away from God/Christianity, and they are: 1) treated like a pariah by their own families, and even kicked out (talk about being Marked and Avoided, hmmmm? And how is that approach compatible with keeping families together? WTF is up with that? ), 2) even run the risk of losing their jobs (especially at some companies that are 'run on Christian principles'. Yes Virginia, that happens also) I could name a lot of other situations like this, but my main point here is there is a helluva lot more kinds of 'cult-like' behavior and abuse being practiced by fundamentalist, and even more mainstream churches, and many people don't take notice of this. Practices (that I've mentioned here) that if practiced by TWI and other 'cults', would readily be added as evidence of why those groups are 'mind control cults'. Ie., what's sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander.

Hhmmmm, good point. ... ... kinda like when I voted for Dubya the first time, I was unaware of _his_ true nature as well. ;)

"Nobody joins a cult" Errmm, ... yes we did. (At the risk of sounding like Oldiesman, ... which upon further investigation, I do not) we all joined. We all accepted and believed in Piffle and Co., we all thought that we were on "God's Army" (from a Way kids song), and even with the fear motivation and controlling crap that _was_ hurled in our direction, we all joined, and later left (or were thrown out of) TWI. Sorry guys, I know that I'm singing the same old, same old, but our TWI experience is a lot more like some of these fundamentalist churches/religions (along with their fear motivating/controlling/intimidating tactics relevant to their doctrines) than many of us realize/dare to admit to. I could take a lot of what 'mind control cults' are accused of, and rightfully attribute them to a sizable majority of fundy, and even moderate churches. Hell the core of the Christian Gospel of "Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, ... or be damned for all eternity" (in all of its variations) has many attributes of a 'mind control cult'. It's that nobody realizes that or would have the guts to admit it. P.S., my main difference with Oldies is I don't abide by the "Get over it" song-and-dance, nor do I attribute the blame for what VPW and Co. did to the followers. Nor do I say that "It's your fault" for taking part in TWI, because they did lie to us, intimidated and brow beat us, and treated those who thought for themselves like crap. But (speaking for myself anyway) I did join. ... And I did leave.

I would view these creationists as a total laughable _joke_, if they just limited themselves to these themeparks and their (losing) battles with the IRS. But that they want to inject their pathetic insanity into the public schools, and all in the name of professional science?

Woodstock baby! (See shoutout box)

That last pic, ... is he doing a rendition of The Flying Nun? :B)

I didn't say you did now, did I? Plus I was responding to Tzaia's post. Thank you.

"These points are the hallmark of nearly every religious organization." Bingo! And the line of demarcation between 'cults' and religious organizations are a LOT blurrier than most people realize, particularly if said characteristics happen within your own church/denomination. That's when the 'whitewashing' of one's own organization begins, I have noticed. <_<

Yeah to what Brainfixed said. One aspect of a free and open forum and society is that it often ain't no garden party. Where people are just s-o-o-o 'polite' and likeminded all the time. ... You know. ... Boring to tears. Feh! If you think that _this_ board is rough, there are some political leaning message boards that will nearly burn your hide off -- proverbially speaking. I prefer open forums like that, as they allow for the most freedom. FAR more than TWI has ever given.

10 will get your one the thread starter doesn't show up here again. Typical drive-by poster. ... Hit and run! <_<
