Wow Evan! So basically any valid complaints raised against Momentus are to be casually dismissed as that made by neurotic people in need of help of mental health professionals, and those who 'just return to their previous lives without making changes'? "My observation is that few people put wheels on what they learn there." Well hell, some folks could say (and have said) the same thing about TWI and VPW. For a brief second there, your post was almost like reading a Oldiesman-like defense if VeePee. I guess if you take an abusive situation/class, and as long as it has the appearance of living the Christian life and repentence of your sins, its ok by you? -->

Nothing hid that shall not be revealed...ready?

All-ll *right*! ... Yet Another Goosestepping Whitewasher for his Teacher and Man of God in the world! You'd think that they would learn by now, and mature out of their doe-eyed, mindless, "What shall we do now O Master", adulance of that kraut, and *grow up*! But nnooooo! ... And this is basically what their 'more than abundant life' leads to? --> -
Doncha really like those form letters that says "I love you"? So personal and so touching, ..... NOT!! -->

Chuck, A point I would like to deal with you here (Yes here, my man; for one thing since you posted here). Hey! So I guess that means that Mahatma Ghandi ought to be the prime rib special of the day to you, ehh? Christmas! What is this about the testosterone routine about seeing who is man enough to going to another board just to fend off personal attacks against them? ... Like the insulting parties can't just get a job instead and do something *constructive* with their lives. --> Also keep in mind that, while we live in the U.S.A. with all of our Constitutional rights and all, guess what else is a Constitutional right? ... The right to forbid/throw out people out of one's private home/board/chat room/whatever. A-yup. Paw, Constitutionally speaking, cold throw our butts out if we don't praise the THE threads. Otherwise, be cool, dude. -

Just downloaded Firefox, and so far I'm impressed. Yes, it is quite a bit faster, and I like the tabbed browsing (which is becoming standard on new browsers nowadays). Now whether it totally replaces IE still remains to be seen, but I think that browsers like this, as well as that government agency recommendation that IE be replaced, should act as a big kick in the butt for Micro$oft to get up off its complacency, put some work into their security problems, and quit hiding behind the 'innovation' term as a catch-all excuse as to why it is still sucky in a lot of areas.

Why I reject belief in the Bible

So you are 'showing your respect for me' by using that same brush here in that statement? Try again. -
Why I reject belief in the Bible
GarthP2000 replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
Def59, Damn, I just LOVE this. :D--> Why is it that when those we are opposed to (for any reason) act hypocritically, we jump all over them as tho' their hypocrisy is the key element that proves them to be wrong. YET, when those who we agree with/side with, act hypocritically, it then becomes excuse making time? "Well, we are ALL hypocritical at some point or another. Aren't YOU?" And its interesting that since we all have hypocrisy from time to time, you wold have hypocrisy too, right? ..... Yet you 'shoot from the hip' just as much as I do (yes, you do), in pointing out others flaws and hypocrisies. Its all part of voicing our opinions in what we find flawed in other people and things. Here's something else on my end, too. No ....! Just ask those who find an 'ally' in Rev. Sung Yung Moon (sp?) and his Washington Times newspaper re: different conservative causes. :P Even with Moon's rather controversial views regarding why Jews died in the Holocaust, and other issues: (Gotten from Salon.com's article "Bad Moon on the Rise") Moral allies. Why I reject belief in the Bible
GarthP2000 replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
Really? Now, let's stop, and connect all the dots ok? Folks who rant agaist Mormonism are largely Christian in the traditional and orthodox sense right? I mean, that is a fair and solid presumption to make, right? So, you take those folks, how many are conservatives/Republicans, more or less? Hell, I'll even throw some relgious/conservative Democrats in the mix to suit ya. Now take that, and figure out how many are supportive/in agreement w/ Orrin Hatch in his politics/viewpoints/morals/etc? Now, from what you know of conservatives/Christians, and their overall political makeup, is this illustration that I've demonstrated really that far off, hmmm? Notice how focused that 'brush' now becomes. -

... Probably would shock her even less to find out that many of these same Christians (especially if they are in the Republican Party) have no problem 'approving' of the politics, legislation, and even the 'Christian moral standing' of one such Mormon, Utah's Senator Orrin Hatch. Amazing how folks can be so 'tolerant' at select times when it suits them, hmmmm? --> -

Good one, Exy! :)--> ... Interesting concept, us wimpy, weakling humans who are no more than 'pots of clay', as it were, being the ones to protect their Almighty, Sovereign GOD! ... --> I'm sorry, but something is not quite right with that picture. Why I reject belief in the Bible
GarthP2000 replied to Refiner's topic in Atheism, nontheism, skepticism: Questioning Faith
Good point that they weren't little kids, but why is it that that their families were into Baal worship was a justification as to why it r-e-a-l-l-y wasn't that bad for Elisha to sick the bears on them? And calling the prophet 'baldy' being the moral equivelant of blasphemy? (Its just the cultural sign of the times no doubt?) --> ...... Nahhhhh. Sorry guy, but that is as lame as it gets in the excuse category. Especially coming from someone who has *left* TWI on account of similar attitudes in TWI re: their leadership and the near worshipping respect that was 'due' them? Basically, the reasons that a lot of atheists/agnostics give for their not accepting the Christian/theist doctrine/story ain't as simple as "they want a puff cream god that will be their genie inna bottle" or "they are just mad because they have to answer to a higher power" scenarios as perhaps a lot of folks here would really like to have it. Some atheists indeed are a-holes in that category, and unfortunately there are some die-hard atheists who would really like to abolish all religion. But from my experience with them (and no I'm not one; I bet you and Zix thought that I might be, ehh? ;)-->), for every anal-retentive 'kill all the religionists' atheist out there, I would place odds that there are at least 5-10 who are opposed to that stupid behavior. For one thing, it definitely puts them on the hard defensive and makes them look bad to the rest of society, a place that they can ill afford to be, as they aren't in a very good position in the first place. Plus many of them are for the same freedoms you and I are for. As for their 'less-than-honest' reasoning as to why they don't believe in God, have you ever talked to many atheists? Read of any of their accounts of either why they never believed or used to be Christians/Muslims but left? I have, and it blew away this simplistic myth that I used to have regarding atheists being hateful, immoral, anti-American, blah-blah-blah. Ie., they are people just like us, and I've seen not a few atheists behaving in a very moral way. ... Oh, here's a little tidbit for you. How many atheists are on death row? How many of them, per capita, are in prison, hmmm? Now, if I really wanted to be an arse, I *could* use that info to portray this idea that religious people are more apt to commit crimes than atheists. BUT, I won't, as you know and I know, that there is a lot more information to be considered that blows that myth away. Same principle applies just as strongly as to what/why/how in the reasoning that atheists use in not accepting God or any part therein. -

Yo' Al, I can't speak for refinier, but where in the hell did you get this stupid idea that I was conveying that there was no standard for truth? --> Next time, set aside this practice of reading INTO what I said, and actually read what is actually written, and think about what you read. 'Cause I know you didn't this time around.
