  1. Bless Patrol did not enforce it, but in the 6th Corps, there was definitely a weekly flossing chart drawn up and posted on the bathroom doors on the women's floor in Vollmer (Uncle Harry) Hall, and you had to check off every day you flossed.
  2. Nope. Not a grand. Hate to break it to you, but this one has been on eBay before. Heart mags do go for a few bucks, but not anywhere near a thousand dollars. Around ten maybe. It depends. Availability matters, age matters, and condition matters. Not to mention who may be trolling the site looking for it. If there's not much demand, someone may offer a dollar or so. If several folks show up who all want it desperately, a bidding war ensues and the price can go up astronomically.
  3. I'm the one she talked to when she came back from that walk around the pond when RixK Pxnyard tried to get in her pants. I was shocked. I knew Rick. I told her to go talk to LCM immediately and tell him what happened. When she told me what he said, I was shocked that he would give such an answer. I chalked it up to maybe she misunderstood him. Not anymore. Her story also fits with some of the depressive behavior I witnessed in her in residence.
  4. Probably right. Or at least the courage to finally face the truth.
  5. I can verify. M was my 6th Corps roomie So do you think all the sacrifices these women and others were forced to make, were worth your "blessing"? That's pretty damn selfish, knowing their lives were sacrificed so VP could sell you on a pack of lies, which you obviously STILL BELIEVE
  6. Look it up. It's yesterday's post you made at 8:53 p.m.
  7. Um, Deciderator-- In the above post, you pulled out a quote from Shazdancer and attributed it to me. Not that I've got a problem with Shaz :) I just don't like someone elses words put in my mouth. Careful on the quotes.
  8. Who buys the stuff? You'd be surprised. Cult recovery groups, colleges, people who collect religious books in general and/or cult books in particular, people with fond memories, people with bad memories, people with "an appetite for anything Way-flavored," as mentioned above. I sold my stuff, my sister's stuff, and my parent's stuff. I made enough from my stuff to pay off some medical bills. My parents were able to do the same, plus buy a nice desk to hold their computer & files. My sister gave me a lot of what she had, and it bought me a new stove when mine died. In all, I'd say several thousand dollars worth of stuff I sold for family on ebay. Still have some odds and ends left over, but too busy to list it. P.S.-- eBay is easy to learn. Just log on to the site and explore it. There are tutorials right on the site for everything you need to know how to buy & sell.
  9. Come to think of it, that's also how we got on the Sh!t list in Chicago after we got back from HQ in '83........... And on the Sh!t list at HQ in '82.............
  10. Let me define "shield" or "protect." at least in my case. That meant not implementing the policies and procedures which we felt harmful in my area. It did not mean we didn't tell them what we knew was going on. We not only told our twigs and area what we felt about it, we also told our overseers what we felt. I think that's how we got on the $h!t list in Ohio.....
  11. WTF, WTH Just stop by Walgreens.... there's a drive thru... take a bottle of water with you so you can take them right there in the car. You'll begin to feel better by the time you get home, I promise.....
  12. Note to WTH Walgreens called and said ALL your prescriptions are overdue for pickup..............
  13. I have a suggestion to the recipe that may help: Ditch the Lipton Soup mix, it adds unneeded sodium. Add to the soup three to four baked or roasted skinless boneless chicken breasts, cut up. Or add the meat from an entire rotisserie chicken MINUS THE SKIN. You just have to have more veggies in the soup than meat, but you must have meat. This adds much needed protein to the soup, which is lacking. Add some spices-- a little thyme, a little chili powder, some garlic. You could lessen up on the cabbage, maybe. Add some beef or chicken stock, and green beans. Add carrots, onions, celery, zuchinni & yellow squash, whatever you want, just no starchy veggies like peas, corn, beans, or potatoes. This is still a low calorie, low fat soup, good to incorporate into a low-fat diet. I don't know about using the prescribed 7 day program along with this, but I have used this kind of soup mixture for years in order to lose and maintain my weight loss. You have to be smart about breakfast. Don't skip that meal. Try some sliced mixed fruit with 1/3 cup of cottage cheese, and a slice of raisin toast with margarine. Just be sure to have only one serving of bread at that meal, or any other meal. A HALF of a bagel with margarine, no cream cheese. The soup can be served over 1/3 cup of cooked rice, but no more than that. By adding the chicken, you can still eat as much of the soup as you want, because they are all low-carbohydrate vegetables, but this way you are not compromising your protein and causing a cascade of problems you have to do other things to compensate for, which is what the rest of that 7 day program does. Now, I'm gonna tell you what you don't want to hear. I don't like it, either, but it is a fact of life: There is no way of getting around the following basics and understanding and accepting that you have to do the following things for life: Exercise every day. Do something. Move your body: Walk, swim, bike, jog, something to get your heart rate up. Add weight bearing exercise to build muscle, because muscle helps burn fat. Watch what you eat. Your intake cannot be more than your exercise output. You have to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight. Identify and deal with problem foods, problem emotions, and problem people. Identify what foods you can't handle. Manage your environment to keep them out of your reach in order to limit your access to them. Learn what is eating you, before you eat something. Get to the bottom of what you might be medicating with food, and chart out alternative ways of coping. Finally, what people are toxic to you? Do you have people close to you who sabotage you? Who push your buttons? If you can, limit their access to you. If you can't afford a psychologist, you must be one for yourself. Be your own best friend. Love yourself, learn to put yourself first when it comes to your weight and what it takes to keep it in balance. Accept that this is a lifelong battle, which must be fought every day. You will lose the battle some days, and that is ok, as long as you get right back up the next day and carry on. Don't get down and stay down or your weight will bounce back up, and go higher.
  14. Not all of us who were leading God's people knew of the "adultery" (the word is rape), drunkenness, and lies. If I had KNOWN that was going on, I would have LEFT after warning as many people as I could, and most certainly would NEVER have hung around and continued to lead people to the organization. I would wager to say that those who "protected" folks underneath them, for the most part, probably didn't know all the gory details of what was going on behind closed doors, but like us, thought, for example, they were simply fighting politics among old farts who should be retired. I was able to connect those dots only after I left and was able to compare notes on WayDale with others. Then the "partial pieces" of the puzzle I had, could be put together with the "partial pieces" of others, and the big picture then emerged. So there are many of us who don't fit into your picture of a person who is deluded into thinking the "adulteries, drunkenness and lies aren't really all that bad," who as "accomplices", knowingly lead God's flock to a wolf in sheeps clothing, deserving the millstone around their necks. I think that description would be reserved for those who were in on such activities, such as VP and LCM's pimps, and especially those people who, after the exposure of Martindale's crimes were made public, covered his actions, lied to the followers of TWI, labeled it adultery between consensual parties and denied it was rape, and did their level best to keep the flock captive in the organization, and lead more people to it. NOT people who were unaware of the depth of the evil that was really going on, who were trying to protect the people God had entrusted to their care, while fighting to change the organization, until they realized it was a fruitless endeavor.
  15. I would have to agree with this statement. Basically our entire limb was somewhat shielded, and our LC was very laid back and truly believed in the term "self-governing." This did actually allow for some sweet fellowship, but it was only a matter of time before things fell apart. When we were asked to move to Cleveland, right after moving I kept telling people that coming to Ohio was exactly like stepping into the Twilight Zone. Rather than sweet fellowship and a unity of the spirit, we found bizarre paranoia and suspicion. No unity, no trust, only suspicion and an immense fear pervaded the fellowships. Then, when checking on our folks in the old area, we found that they were disappointed in the poor quality of the new leadership, and the folks back home were experiencing pressures from above. Shielding each other from the worst policies, and then our move, coincided with TWI's ratcheting up the pressure when the Corps went full time. This made for a huge jolt to not only us, but those we left behind in our old assignment. None of us were ready for that shock. A fair number of us left for good shortly after that.
  16. Oh, man, that's just nasty...............
  17. I can't speak for whoever made that statement originally, but I'll give you my point of view on what is probably behind that statement. While we coordinated various areas over the years and had been handed some pretty unagreeable stuff to do, we attributed it to, among other things, stupidity and politics, which we felt we were obligated to fight against within the organization. Some of it was initially done passive/aggressively. When it persisted, we were more openly rebellious and agressively confrontational. We ignored, b.s'd, and eventually outright refused to carry out directives from TWI which we felt were stupid, inefficient, unnecessary, invasive, and downright malicious toward people we felt God had entrusted to our care. Refusing to carry out directives from TWI which one feels would be harmful to another person in ones care, is protective of that person. I'm pretty sure other people in our position did the same thing, especially if you were coordinating a geographically isolated fellowship, branch, or area. This all took place at varying degrees, while at the same time we were actively confronting people on up the line at HQ, in our effort to correct what we saw as wrong practice and procedures being implemented from above. I know we are not the only ones who at some point felt we had to do whatever we could at the time to "save God's ministry" as we saw it. After a while, we saw it couldn't be saved, was hopelessly corrupt, and decided to leave. After leaving, and putting the pieces together with a lot of other people, we saw it hadn't been "God's ministry" for a very long time. After even more time, some of us wonder if it was ever "God's ministry" at all. Escaping TWI's grasp has to be done by disentangling and pulling off one tentacle at a time

    Is This Your Cat?

I don't know about anyone else, but I speak from about 55 years of experience with felines. The cats who are most connected with me and my family have always been able to tell when we are sick, or are emotionally upset, and will seek out our companionship. They can be found curling up next to us and purring, or sitting and gazing directly into our eyes. One of them will actually push his head under our hand, to get us to stroke his head. Several of my cats have also been sensitive to barometric pressure. I could always tell when a storm was approaching several hours ahead of time, because of their behavior. I think cats are far more perceptive than we give them credit for.
  19. Oh, yeah. In the 6th Corps. we had a poster on the women's shower room in the dorm with all our names on it and we had to put a check mark by our name when we had flossed!
  20. I don't know... camphor is listed later on as another ingredient. I sometimes have trouble reading the script. The ink is faded, and it is a very old-fashioned script using letters I don't easily recognize. The "f" in canfipah looks somewhat like a slim "s" that goes below the line. I thought it might be a "p", but it doesn't look like the letter "p" used elsewhere in the recipe. So I'm kinda stumped. Maybe it's "cansipah"? The other illegible word looks like "simch" or "smck" oil. Possibly sumack?
  21. VP & TWI seemed to have reduced God down to a couple of magic formulas in order to explain God and explain life in general: Believing equals receiving Giving equals receiving. God can't be reduced to a couple of formulas. He is BIGGER than that. But VP always wanted to put God in a box for us, via his pre-packaged, plagiarized, reformulated, and regurgitated class.
  22. Disclaimer: Some of these ingredients are controlled now or downright illegal, and God only knows how it would affect you-- but it's kind of fun to imagine how bad this stuff would taste and burn going down: Magic Relief 1 pint alcohol 2 drachms oil of cinnamon 2 drachms oil of wintergreen 2 drachms oil of organium 1 drachm oil of sassafras 1 drachm oil of cloves 1 drachm oil of canfipuh (?) 1 oz. tincture of opium 1/2 oz. tincture of myrrh 1/2 oz. tincture of cayenne 1 drachm sulphate of ether 2 drachms camphor 1/2 oz. ammonia To use externally add 1/3 (illegible) oil To use internally 10 drops as a dose Rheumatic remedy
  23. I collect antique cookbooks, and have one from my husband's family that predates the Cvil War. It has some really weird recipes handwritten into its covers, including *a pudding recipe titled with an ethnic slur referring to the hair of said ethnic group ("n-word head pudding") Back then, everything was made from scratch; not only food, but soaps, syrups, and medicines. In between the handwritten heirloom recipes for cakes, pies, and cookies, this antique cookbook has several handwritten recipes for *hop bitters *cancer salve *pulmonic syrup *Jayne's expectorant *Cure for Croup *Prescription for Diptheria And, something called *Magic Relief Magic relief calls for several substances which are now controlled, including tincture of opium. I showed it to Dr. Rawlins once and asked her what it would do to a person. She said, "That'll may you fly!"
  24. ROA 71--Way Int'l HQ ROA 72--Shelby County Fairgrounds, Sidney, OH ROA 73--Shelby County Fairgrounds, Sidney, OH ROA 74--Shelby County Fairgrounds, Sidney, OH ROA 75--Lima County Fairgrounds, Lima, OH ROA 76--Shelby County Fairgrounds, Sidney, OH ROA 77--Shelby County Fairgrounds, Sidney, OH ROA 78 thru 95--Way Int'l HQ I believe TWI's security predates ROA. I believe Bob Ed Wierwille was THE security force in the early days. Any of you old timers remember? Socks? p.s. I think I remember ROA 73 it was simply called "security." I think after that they came up with the name "Bless Patrol?"

    Scott Eide

I went to high school with Scott, we were in the same art class together and I later witnessed to him and got him into TWI. He was briefly in the 8th Corps, and I lost track of him after that. The last I heard of Scott Eide, he was living in Bloomington, IN, and unfortunately suffered some severe burns in a house fire. That was several years ago. That's all I know. Anyone else know anything?
