A scientist explains it and shows how it was made Scientist explains and what I know from working at a factory where they made the missile stages and rings they had pictures taken in the daytime from the side of good test launches and ones where there was a problem... the missile actually rotates like a football spiraling through the air when there is a problem and most errors create a gas plume in a pinwheel... during the daylight it is not anything like as awe inspiring as this one. Thought I would add these test missiles were tiny little ones compared to this one in Norway.

I actually am sending out more but I was never a good card sender.. but who I send to verses who my mom sent to is quite different... (she sent out cards to everyone she knew)...I send to very close friends and close family... I do keep in contact via email and face book a lot now and have reconnected with a few cousins I haven't seen for years so my list admittedly has grown longer.. I think of Christmas cards as a way to send something fun... not so much as a way to keep connected... I usually look for a fun interesting card and if they are someone I do not have internet connections with they do get a letter in the card too.

Hey Roy, Hang in there I am praying for you. God Bless sweetie!

Be-Leaving not to be confused with Be-coming. These two words are opposites and as we all know finding them together in a sentence gives extra emphasis to the usage of these verbs. Therfore this usage has been throughly and thoroughly amplified by this statement I was be-coming a total TWI Tool but now will be-leaving TWI as quickly as i can!

Thanks guys but we have a two fold issue... our soil is pretty much solid clay as in you can dig it out and fire it into tiles with out having to clean it, and their little baby roots drowned in the winter.... and then there is the Gopher issue, which I suspect is the bigger problem... the gophers eat the new tender roots and dig around and disturb.. and i suspect they are the ultimate culprit... Where we live both of these plants have to be planted where they are mostly in shade or morning sunlight only.. We are just too hot in the summer. But I have a place that is protected from gophers and I may try to amend the soil and put a camillia in there... and maybe a few azaleas. I will have to see how it goes this summer LOL

Struggling With Basic Reading, Writing & Grammar
leafytwiglet replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
Well since I am currently learning Spanish.. Let me just add a little bit of my experience... you really do have to have an excellent grasp of the grammatical rules in your own language, to learn to properly speak a second language. You may be able to read it with relative cognizance, but there are always, in any language, subtle nuances that take years to learn.. and reading it .. is different than speaking it... and writing in it, is even more difficult. Yes, you can put little baby sentences together with relative ease, but properly writing the more complicated sentences, is not so easy.. and translation is just that much more difficult and I would venture to say that, to really understand a language that you did not grow up speaking, you need to be able to do all three before you can really say you understand the language.. Yes, you can get the gist of what is being written but when you try to write in the language yourself, you don't always make sentences that are easily understood. VP portrayed himself as a greek/hebrew scholar... but Just because a person can say a few words, doesn't make them proficient in a language... I can read Spanish, I can hear a few words, and recognize them, and I can write baby sentences in Spanish. but I am barely literate in the language. VP and many of those who were in charge had the barest grasp of the language, and touted themselves as knowledgeable.. Interestingly the people in TWI who did have the talent and know how, were quiet and you rarely knew of them.. Unless you were in Corps or at HQ. edited because I am still l earning where to put commas in sentences Snicker! -
I was gonna ask if you were on the left coast like me but you are down south LOL My Mother in law's Camellias are having a spectacular year... I am not sure what it is about our soil in our yard but so far I have never been able to get a camillia to survive more than one year.. it may be a gopher thing..the same with azaleas.. they do not like my yard LOL NO matter there are plenty of plants that love it.. although this winter I am trying a couple of new locations where the soil is a bit better. Regarding the sage.. be sure to add some of the ornamental sages which are real work horses in the garden.

This will be my second Christmas free from TWI doctrin.. cracks me up a bit as well I have been out for a long time.... I will be getting out my manger scene and putting it up Year TWo And I have pulled out my angels... I love Christmas... I always have but I stupidly took on the guilt trip about it that TWI sold.. For me Christmas is special... a time to walk away from the cares of work and money and being selfish... A time to share your love for family and friends.. not that I don't do that all through the year but it is a time to focus on it... and remember what the really important things in life are about...(no not shopping and getting presents, although that is fun)... That we are alive that we have family and friends .. for me that God sent his son. and that sharing with some one in need is an important part of a happy life.

What was the smartest thing LCM ever said?

Thanks OldSkool I never read the whole thing before just bits and pieces on here. -
Outward bound that was the original programs name and it sounds like they copied it and renamed it Total Fitness Institute. Outward Bound I can't find a link for the other but I didn't hunt very hare either.
-
I hope others come in and answer you better than me but I believe TWI ripped off a program that was popular in businesses and for troubled teens.. it was copied by TWI and of cousrse in Typical TWI fashion they took it up and over the top... I believe all Corps were required to participate at one time... In the beginning I think it was voluntary but that did not last long. as you can see by the thread here also no it would not have been Tony Robbins He would have been a young teen at that time. I am trying to dreg it up from the depths of my memory and it had a different name..(The original program) I just cant seem to remember it. Edited to add by original program I mean the secular one TWI's program was always called L.E.A.D.

Brainy... this is my curretn issue... LOL you said what I was trying to put into words.. but I really do need to head to work now.. catch you later on line and Hugs.

Waves Jeff you sweet sweet Man, just finally saw this thread.. yes I am slow to get through them all.. but I wanted to say how delighted I am that you are here and made your way back and hopefully have resolved $$$ issues as they do make things tuff.. I do enjoy your posts and am glad you are here!

There are different degrees of friendship... there is the acquaintance that you just met.. the person you know slightly but the people in my life that are true friends are the ones who I have known for a long time... who Know my good and bad points and whose good and bad points I know and in spit of all this we are still close .. enjoy each others company and would help each other out in a pinch... This kind of friendship takes years to build. Fellowship is different it is being with someone and doing the same activity together.. not as close of a relationship, you may not know them as well as your best friend.. although I have to say I have made some great friends at the Gym and we mostly spend the time sharing tips about diet and different exercise plans we have run onto, what is happening in our life.. I think of fellowship more as a collaboration between people with a like interest.. and fellowship in regards to the Bible or faith in Christ is just that much sweeter. As to how people are using it on here hmmm I would have to really dig deeper but for me the part of TWI i miss is being with my friends studying the bible or just plain horsing around having fun! I get that now from my current friends .. I do miss the bible aspect of it.. but I have not found a group I am comfortable with where I live. I did have one where we lived before. I suspect eventually I will find one here too. Edited to add Excellent Topic by the way... I need to think more about this...

Thanks Cheranne... Beautiful...

What was the smartest thing LCM ever said?

a quick synopsis... Martindale was caught not only having an affair but forcing an employee to have an affair in order to keep her job.. they do not convict on those kinds of things unless there is more evidence than he said she said.. and there was not only evidence but corroborating statements by other BOD members and there were plenty of other incidents of it besides the one in the lawsuit. -
IT was a rude comment .. The term has NEVER been a term of endearment throughout history ... and has always been used in a derogatory fashion. Usually it is meant to signify the person has no say in anything and is worthless....Which is how you used it. For now I will assume you used it in the heat of the moment and because THE media has tried to dress it up in pretty clothes and tried to make it seem not as bad as it is... and you are still young. DO continue to come here, but come to learn about TWI's past and about Head quarters today. I am not sure where you live but if you live far away from headquarters, you probably do not have a clear picture of the true nature of TWI... I was like that, I lived out west... My judgement of TWI was based on the believers from my area and the leadership there.... and a bit of luck as to who I was with.... My few encounters with HQ were almost unanimously not good. but I continued in my faith in the teachings and the intent much like you, basing it on the fact that no one denomination was perfect. I was sadly wrong ... I did see enough stuff, and hear enough things to make me begin to question it... long before the lawsuits happened and the Martindale years of control and evilness. A dear friend who was in the Corps told me of his disgust with the whole Corps program and Headquarters... He left because of the Idolatry that was so prevalent there and within the program itself. I believe that you are here for a reason perhaps not the one you envisioned when you stumbled into the site... Or maybe exactly for that reason... You should probably understand a few things ...There are people from all walks of life here... Aged 20's and up.. From all different parts of the country... from all different periods in TWI.. Some are even still involved for various reasons. This site is here to tell about what was wrong with TWI.. Many of us will also talk about the good times we had with fellow believers because the believers are what got people to stay, and many times what got them involved in the first place. But we will also tell you what was wrong with it... DO know this... people are not lying on here...They are not making stuff up. They have come here and told what they saw .. what happened to them.. the good and the bad... and many times some very ugly stuff...and been surprised to find out that they were not the only one who was having this experience and it was happening all over the country. The sad thing about the bad stuff is it was at the hands of Head quarters or leadership in TWI.. not from some one who was outside of TWI.. In fact in all my time in TWI ... only one time was I ever treated badly by some one outside of TWI. I saw stuff happen to other believers and I sat Mutely by... and for that I have asked God for forgiveness.... So I hope the rest of your time here is spent more productively than arguing with people....and making rude comments to them or about the owner of this website. But then that is up to you. But you should understand... though you are of the opinion that the things that were wrong with TWI were changed... and you are taking them at their word... perhaps you should do some reading on here and seeing what the beginning of TWI was about .. That will really show you what is changed or what is the same... and maybe show you where the errors are in the doctrine. and now... sorry for the length of this post.. but I think we all need to start over with a new cup of coffee and a new cinnamon roll.. Welcome to the Grease Spot Cafe .. where we share about our EXPERIENCES in TWI.. and what we have learned along the way. Perhaps you will share yours.. edited for grammatical errors and a spelling error
-
\\\Exactly Tazia... I sometimes think we were kept busy hoping from subject to subject just to blind us to the real truth.. not to mention being discouraged from reading the word on our own... I can't tell you how many times I was told to go read the blue book again, rather than reading on my own.
-
Thanks Goey and Penworks I am often surprised on here to see the difference in what the Bible says versus what we were taught in PFAL . All that jumping from verse to verse and no real reading of the actual book seems to have created a lot of errors.
-
God calls on us to be an example to the world in our deeds in our words..In our lives. Christ was the living example of this while he was on earth. They will know you by your love! Edited to add By the way I am glad to hear that as always the individual believers outshine Headquarters.

I do not think of it as buying people as I am taking what I have that is extra and am giving to some one in need. IT is freely given with no strings attached. Okay what about caring for widows and orphans within the ministry.. or those who have sustained injuries or lost their job and need a hand up for a while. DO they have anything like that in place now? What about care for the elderly believers? Would you ask?
-
If they have mended their ways then do you mind listing off what charitable actions they support. For instance many churches have soup kitchens or programs to help in the community.Projects to help feed the poor, assist the elderly. Many churches have also have programs to help the poor in other countries. Some of them support Heifer International which is an amazing organization that helps people in other countries by giving them livestock so they can not just eat today but can sustain them selves in the future. I am not trying to be snide... When I was with TWI they did none of this... they did collect Abundant Sharing and the teaching at the time was that the barest minimum you should be giving to the ministry(Them) was 10% IF you wanted to give to other charities well it would have to be after your 10% to them.... So are you aware of any programs they are doing now to help people in the community.. Also have they set anything in place now to help Widows. Or women needing to escape abuse They had nothing like that when I was in. Has it changed to include these types of programs now. What about Children's fellowship.. Do they have a fully functioning program now.. Like Sunday school.. They didn't before. I hope they have done something about this.. Will you share what you know?

I am just gonna throw this out there because I am curious, how does he get from I wish that Ye all spake in tongues which sounds like Paul's Wish is that they all spoke in tongues To GOd's Commandment is that everyone of them speak in tongues.. to clarify in case the question makes no sense.. how does desire or a wish turn into a commandment is there some translation issue there or just THE teacher jiggering the bible to say what they want it to say. Sorry if I sound like I am nit picking but...well, I guess I am. I understand the part about changing I from Paul to God.. but is it just a natural direction in light of that change that they also go from wish to commandment. edited for sentence structure.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name.
leafytwiglet replied to TheHeckler's topic in New Members
Well Heckler, I did say welcome to you, and I see by your posts that you live up to your name, it signals along with your posts your intent. So maybe we will cross paths again in the threads, or perhaps this is your little drive by. Either way you are welcome here. If you should decide to share what is being taught in this supposedly new foundational class I will be most intrigued to hear it. -
Well that is it. I picked the last of the garrden some tomatoes and a bunch of peppers. IT is raining right now ans supposed to get down to 32 tonight but the big freeze is supposed to be tomorrow night when we hit 25. so I picked what was left as it will just get ruined tomorrow night if i didn't And I finished covering the flower garden in leaves. So sad when it turns winter and so much of everything is dormant. Now that we are having the rain the ground should be softened up so I can transplant daffodil bulbs and some lilies. I am really excited for my flower garden this spring, it is going to be beautiful. I finally have a good under planting of sage and other plants, and will fill the rest of it in this summer with painted daisies and a couple other plants that seem to be gopher proof and drought tolerant.
